We got a call that he didn't have the trailer. After I told the person on the phone he said he would, they sent us to Des Moines anyways....80 minutes away to a place that didn't have the trailer and we ended up getting the trailer in the original location!!! The man in Junction was great, people on the phone at uhual didn't even call him to verify the information after I talked to them and reassured them that he said he would have it. People on the phone and the central service system need redone. Your service sucks. Your phone operators even went as far as basically calling me a liar for saying he had a shuttle. They need to be retrained to realize the difference between saying you couldn't have to...he shouldn't have.....the only reason uhual is still in business is because you have a monopoly on the trailer business

The requested truck was not available where I wanted to pick it up so I had to soend my time and money to get to a place that had the truck I needed. Very disappointed in that situation.

The auto hauler we rented was to be ready in Boone, Iowa - I WAS TOLD. We drove 373 miles from Illinois to pick up a car, then were told SUNDAY by Montique that the location was to be Grand Junction, 20 miles From the car & OUT OF OUR WAY. No GPS available out there, could not find the place. Would have been worse if CHRIS at Higgins had not helped us. The Motorsports employee at Boone Told me the hauler would be in Boone. It was not. Nobody at Des Moines Regional Office cared (Montique) or contacted anyone at Motorsports to go get the hauler & bring it to Boone for us on Monday morning. THIS ADDED ONE AND ONE HALF HOURS to our trip home, we arrived & had to unload after dark, and my husband had to go to work with very little sleep. BECAUSE THE AUTO HAULER WAS NOT WHERE WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE. Pretty sad that we made a trip of over 750 miles in 2 days, and the only piece of the business we took care of that wasn't dependable was U-HAUL. Chris at Grand Junction was the only one there, & had 2 auto haulers. One of the employees from the Boone location could have left Monday morning & went over there to bring one back to the Boone location, which was where our car was located. I mentioned this to Montique on Sunday. I told her we were from out of state and didn't know the area. NO EFFORT WAS MADE TO GET US THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE NEEDED. Both of us are seniors, and knew it was going to be a challenging trip. The U-Haul fiasco made the project MUCH HARDER. Chris at Higgins, however, was very helpful. ONCE WE GOT THERE. It was not Chris's fault. I blame the Regional Office in DesMoines because even after I explained to Montique what a HARDSHIP it would be to go 20 miles in the opposite direction to pick up the hauler in Grand Junction, there was NO EFFORT MADE for anyone from the Boone location to bring the auto hauler to the location we were told it would be waiting for us, in Boone. And I told Montique that we wouldn't need it until 11:30 AM on Monday. But she wasn't willing to even call the Boone location and ask them to do that. And I KNOW it can be done, and has been done, when we have rented other equipment from U-Haul.

This guy was above and beyond professional. The COMPANY NOT HIM screwed up my split contract. It took me almost 2 hours of my time to get the transporter because nobody at the Iowa office would pick upntheir phone. The Des Moines office split the contract and gave me extra miles to get to the transporter. I had to drive to get the transporter because the dolly that I rented on line wouldnâ€™t work. I only found this out at the truck pick up site after their computer wouldnâ€™t allow me to use the reserved car dolly because it said my car wouldnâ€™t work despite putting in everything correctly on my online reservation. The location that I drove to to pick up the transporter isnâ€™t reachable using GPS. This dealer was more than accommodating and explained how to get to him despite traveling to where the GPS sent me to incorrectly. This dealer finally allowed me to pay cash for the transporter because the computer reservation just wouldnâ€™t work despite him calling and being forwarded to out of state call centers that couldnâ€™t help him because they didnâ€™t do the split reservation. He even had to call his regional Manager who couldnâ€™t do anything to help. He spent and hour of his time even after his official close time to try to make the reservation work. He wrote me out a handwritten reservation and allowed me to pay with exact cash just to get me back on the road. This time cost me valuable time. I was u able to get all of the contents out of my home as I had a strict meeting time with my new landlords. I now have to spend the time and money to travel 4.5 hours to finish retrieving my personal items and I will have to pay for another small uhaul to do it, lose my time and gas money to accomplish what could have been done if the reservation was completed correctly on uhaulâ€™s end. To top all of that frustration( which I wouldnâ€™t have even said a word about), the drop off point charged me for going over mileage by 1.6 miles. The trailer was nicely unhooked from the trailer and parked next to the others as was the truck as a courtesy. So finding a charge for a mere 67 cents on my account prompted me to enlighten your company to the complete hell I went through in this move and the huge added expense of the fuel that I hadnâ€™t planned on for pulling a transporter and the travel and truck rental that will now be needed because I lost well Over 2 valuable hours of time and have to make a return trip to retrieve the remainder of my items. Iâ€™ve never had ANY problems with Uhaul and have used you many, many times. This may have just caused me to rethink using your company again in the future.

I am highly disappointed in the way Uhaul runs. I reserved a 20' truck for Grand Junction, IA to be picked up Saturday the 24th. When I arrived there was another customer finishing their paperwork and took the last 20' truck. The manager got right on the phone and found out our truck had been double booked. The only truck he had available was a 10' truck. My debit card was charged for the first day and we were told we would get a $50 credit and $.69 for each mile. My wife and I are disabled and had hired a crew to help us move but because of the truck size we were only able to make 3 loads on the 1st day and got drenched on that third load. I then had to find a crew to help on Sunday and pay them as well. It took 2 trips the 2nd day. Instead of 2 trips with a big truck and 1 crew that would have taken no more than 40 miles; it took 5 trips, 2 work crews, and 106 miles. I was charged the first day for $63.10 and when I returned the truck Monday morning I was charged $151.09 plus put $20 in gas which gave the truck a little more than when I started with it. I have been triple charged, had to pay 2 moving crews, and put too many miles on, and took and extra day because my reservation was not handled professionally. I AM VERY UPSET AND DISCOURAGED THAT IF I AM NOT COMPENSATED BY WEDNESDAY I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PAY A BILL ON TIME AND BE CHARGED AN OVERDRAFT FEE OF $34. IT WAS NEVER TOLD TO ME THAT THE CREDIT WOULD NOT COME OFF MY BILL AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT. I have used uhaul in the past and never had this kind of problem. I would like to get it settled as soon as possible. If this situation is not handled appropriately and in a timely manner you will losing a repeat customer who will not recommend your services anymore.

The young man helping me was very quick , and was a pleasure to work with. ASA food mart , however, did not have another person tending to other store business. This made him apologize to me numerous times for the constant "interruptions" of other customers.

The "office" was dirty, as was the attendant. But Jefferson is a small town, and since it was the only truck rental place available, we had no other choice.The trailer was well-worn, and we were concerned that the tires would not withstand the trip. They did, however, so I guess our fears were unfounded--but I don't think there are too many more trips left on them! Also, the hitch is very old, and not at all user-friendly.

I was not thrilled at all having to drive 80+ miles to pick up the truck. I just happened to check on my reservation the day before pick up and saw that the location had drastically changed. No one contacted me about this. It would have been a major issue had I waited for the call that was supposed to happen!

I was offered a small trailer in addition to the truck I rented. This was due to the fact I wasn't given the truck that I asked for (I ended up with a smaller truck). I didn't use the trailer and I understand that there is no refund for that. I did buy the insurance collision-damage waiver on the trailer and I would like that refunded.
