It is currently Thursday, April 29th. I made a reservation using U-haul's website for a U-Haul April 20th, for the 21st. The 21st date came and went seemingly without much issue (vehicle picked up at 9am, returned at approximately 3pm for a six hour window). My card was taken twice, but apparently that day I was only charged for boxes and tape which I also purchased. Fast forward to Monday, I receive an e-mail invoice from U-haul stating that I need to pay (wait, didn't I already do that? How many times do they need my credit card) an amount that is approximately $50 more than what I was told I was charged on the 21st. I use uhaul.com/payment in the email and enter in my information and no information on my account comes up. So, I call their 1-800 number, after speaking with someone on the phone I am told that the information has not yet been posted to their system, so they can't accept payment (even though, they can e-mail me and threaten me with a $30 late fee?). Regardless, I am told to wait a couple of days and try again. So Wednesday the 28th comes around, now a full week after I have already rented and returned the truck. I go to uhaul.com/payment enter in my information, and am presented with a payment form, I ONCE AGAIN enter in my credit card information, take a screenshot of the payment received and confirmation number because at this point all trust has been annihilated and low and behold, the next day: Thursday, April 29th, 2021 I now have another email in my inbox claiming that $227.27 is due from email@example.com? I replied to them with the previous day's confirmation number, screenshots from U-haul's website as well as my credit card account showing a deduction from 2021-04-28, and told them to expect the worst possible review. email, websites, and credit card processing are 20th century technologies. To claim that in 2021, U-haul still doesn't have this figured out is beyond infuriating, it seems as if they are pulling a scam. I will do everything in my power to never use them again. The Monterey location staff at Airport Road Self Storage seemed friendly and helpful, I don't intend this review to be a reflection of them. This is squarely upon U-Haul's follow up and clearly attempting to charge me more than was owed with outright threats.Christian D.

Rented a box van Sunday, dropped it off before 5pm. Monday morning I get a call from the rude lady asking where I had put the key. I was never instructed to the night key drop. The plastic key chain said â€œspare keyâ€ on it so I put the key above the sun visor. Rude lady proceeded to tell me that she's going to call a lock smith and that she was going to stick me with the bill. I told her yea right. Rude rude sad lady.DANE D.

My rental experience overall was poor. The truck was great. No problems. But I rented to go from Monterey to Arcata and back. It's about 400 miles one way. I was told I'd have a little over 800 miles. My contract was totally botched in that the scheduler had to put in that I was going from San Jose to Arcata to get me a better deal apparently. Of course UHaul then charged me almost 70$ extra for the additional miles twice between Monterey and San Jose. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. One star as this cost me an hour of time at time of rental to work out that I was returning to Monterey and not San Jose. And then the added 67$ for â€œextraâ€ miles which were not extra at all. They just had the wrong start/endpoint.Andrew J.
The truck smelled like smoke when we got in. Also, the key drop off process was miserable. It needs to be more streamlined. I had to run back and forth from my car to the truck 3 times before I could drop the keys off.Bryan L.

The man working was great. Uhaul's ridiculous price gouging was ridiculous. The online system failed and the man was unable to print me a receipt. The people that helped me throughout this experience were great, but Uhaul's awful website and online interface was so terrible I will be seeking an alternative next time I need to rent a moving truck.Grace M.

The guy that helped me out was super friendly! But I've been trying to get something squared away with my receipt now for almost two weeks with minimal help from the staff. I was charged for the extra insurance ($30) when I never requested it. Both in the office and online I explicitly stated I did not want the extra charge, but noticed it was added into my final bill... Rob was friendly and helpful. However, the 20ft I reserved was not at the store at 0830 and I got a phone call just minutes before 830 while I was on the way there about the truck not being there. I was told that it will be at Greenfield, CA not Montetey, CA at 10AM not 0830AM. This infuriated me due to the fact that I even spoke to the customer center the day before to confirm that I got my 20' truck for my move then this happened. Thankfully, Rob rented me a 15footer and i literally made it work. A complaint was filed by Edward for me over the phone ref. #2150104 an update would be great on that.kim M.

1. Difficult to locate and no parking available for drop off while we had to sit and wait for person to come back from lunch 2. We gave back more gas than we received at time of pick up - and yet your company charged us $1.17 extra for going over our mileage - which probably occurred while we were trying to locate this property and find a place to park the truck while we waited.tom N.
