I made a reservation for a 26 foot truck on May 6, and you guys without asking me set the pick-up time at 10:00 a.m. which is a bit too late for my schedule. So I call the Slaughter Lane U-Haul and asked for an adjustment to 8:00 in the morning, and the gentleman who answered me said "Yes, no problem." Then on May 4 I was notified that my reservation was "updated" and the pick-up location was changed to 7400 S FM 969 at 9:30, which is 16,7 miles away from my place. So I called U-Haul (Sobia) and asked what happened - that only 30 minutes earlier and the pick-up location is far away. She gave me 15 miles extra for the trip. Then on May 6, I went to the location with my son and asked people about U-Haul truck. It was a tire replacement center, and those people there said they didn't anything about the truck. We had to spend about an hour there calling people. It was already an exhausting experience. When I tried to return the truck to the location Sobia told me to, we came to know that the return/drop location was also changed....Anyway, I could finally come back to my place around 9:30 p.m., after we drop the truck to the location we newly received. What an experience!!!!
Jason J.Everything was smooth and perfect except for whatever API you use to scan the back of IDs. It sucks. From the surface level it seems it takes my OSs camera (which is digitally altering photos naturally) and was unable to scan because it wasn't clear enough. Not sure if that's what actually happened but it doesn't work at all and it's my second time using it.
Colton C.When I arrived at the location (a tire shop) there were no uHaul representatives. A tire shop employee told me to "just go grab it (the trailer) from around back" so I did. As I was leaving, I asked if what I needed to do to "check out." They didn't have an answer so I left with the trailer. On my way home I received a call from a uHaul rep who told me that she had gone home early but could check me in over the phone. I had to text this person pictures of the trailer and of my drivers license. This person told me that the tire shop would be closed at my drop-off time and to just leave the trailer outside the gate and they'd take care of it in the morning. This is exactly what I did. Then, 2 days later, I am billed for 3 total days of rental, vs the 24 hours I had requested. I was told by the same representative that "I told you to self check-in the trailer when you dropped it off" which was not the case, nor did I receive any communication from uHaul on how to do that or that it was necessary. After submitting a complaint, I was refunded for the 2 extra days but charged $20 for "not doing the self check-in" because uHaul can't help but be petty about the whole situation. I'd be angry if it wasn't so hilariously bad. Honestly it all felt like a huge scam to get more money out of me, which I guess was successful considering they got an extra $20. I won't be renting from uHaul again and I suggest others do the same.
