We went 12 miles. No paperwork was signed when my husband went to get the keys, they just looked at his drivers license and gave him the key. The Uhaul was on E, we added gas. we drove 12 miles and they claimed we drove 144! we were charged $244.72 for something that probably should have only been about $50. When my husband called they said the tank wasn't filled enough and so we got an extra charge. I am currently waiting on a manager to come in to rectify the situation. So far I have been told that I WILL get my money back but this is ridiculous and it should not have happened in the first place.

The UHaul Van had about an 1/8th of a tank of gas in it, had to immediately get gas for it before making any trips. The Left Rear tire had low air pressure, the warning light was even on and was not taken care of. Additionally, the back of the Van was not swept or cleaned. There was bits of drywall and screws all over the back. Not the quality of service I was expecting.

Dirty truck, received on empty, they didn’t have correct mileage or fuel level. Seatbelt buzzer stayed on with seatbelt engaged...they corrected mileage and fuel - charged appropriately.

Pickup location was in Chicago. Old trailer in a lot. Scheduled a 26-foot truck one week in advance. Preferred location was changed the day before pickup. When we arrived at the next location they didn't have any trucks. Had to drive into Chicago to pick up truck/ trailer combination since they didn't have a 26-foot truck. When it was billed the added trailer was more than a 26-foot truck. Location said they couldn't do anything. We were caught in rush hour traffic delaying our move 3 hours from the traffic and distance. Scheduled movers which had to add people at our expense to get our by 12:30 at night. Up all day and into the night driving till we got to our billed hotel at 4:30 in the morning. Had to leave at 11 in the morning leaving us with little sleep. The entire move cost us in gas, time, money for a move that was not last minute. Our movers said this has happened many times to them. For a large older company, this entire event is unacceptable. I doubt we will ever use Uhaul again and spread our story on social media.

Truck was empty when picked up. Location was busy with several other customers at the scheduled time of pickup. U-Haul rep was helpful but could use some additional help there.

-location wasn’t open at my pickup time, with a number of confused customers waiting for help -truck interior was dirty with empty beverage containers -staff was rude when I returned the vehicle, publicly arguing with another customer whose receipt was WAY off -another customer left the trailer and warned me to double check my receipt

I could not get the truck out of the lot and no one was around to assist me since I rented through the app and the facility was not yet open. I wrote to you that I would not be charged for the truck since it was blocked in at the facility and I could not get it out nor could I get any assistance. Yet, UHaul moved forward with charging me. I've contacted my bank. This charge will be getting reversed.

Just got AUTO charged for extra addons I didn't request along with some random fee; when dropping off the vehicle in the evening entire staff were smoking pot in the parking lot. What a garbage service along with broken down equipment! DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!

The attendant was not helpful, gave no instructions on drop off, when I asked if I could drop it closer he said just drop wherever. I was then told I would see an email receipt which I never did. I drove the truck 32 miles, 2 over the 30 in the contract and the next day I was charged for 96 miles.

There was a person sleeping in the truck that we were assigned to when we arrived at 8:30am to pick it up. The key for the truck was not in the lock box like it was supposed to be and the man in the truck did not have the key either. We were unable to pick up the truck at the time needed and had people waiting at our house to help us load. I had to send my brother to pick up a truck later in the morning because we had to get to our home closing and could not wait for customer service to figure it out. There was no one on site to help us either, even though it was supposed to open at 8:30. I'd like someone to call me ASAP about this experience as it was pretty terrible.

Had to wait 2 hours for a truck that was 2 sizes smaller than the one I put in a reservation for. Employees seemed to not care about anyone that was in the shop.

TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING!! Reserved a van online. Picking it up was easy enough after a short wait. There was a line but it’s the end of the month so that’s to be expected. One of the guys that works there went out and pulled up the van while the other checked me in. I was told the vehicle had a full tank of gas and to bring it back with a full tank. They gave me the keys and told me the vans out front. I inspected the vehicle by myself. It was clean enough but not washed. Upon entering the vehicle I noticed the smell of cannabis along with ash and shredded lettuce on the floor of the drivers compartment. When I started the vehicle the fuel level was just over a half tank. I made a video showing both the mileage, fuel level, ash and lettuce. As I did not want to be charged for smoking in the vehicle or the extra fuel. I went back into the office and they checked some scratch paper, told me it only has half a tank and advised me to bring it back with a half a tank. I was done with the vehicle early so I filled up the fuel to over a half tank and dropped it of the evening before it was to be returned (12 hours early) and dropped the keys through the key slot in the door of the office trailer. Over all a painless experience until the email bill arrived. They added almost 200 miles to the starting mileage and charged me for the half tank of gas that it was short when I picked it up. This took my bill from approximately $120 to $275. I have photos of both the starting and ending mileage and fuel levels so I have evidence to disputed these charges. I guess I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that this is probably poor record keeping at this location and not fraud, but after spending 30 mins on hold twice this morning with uhaul customer service and emailing photos. I have to wait up to 72 hours for an area manager to review my photos and call me to see how this can be resolved. I have to note that I only called Uhaul customer service after calling the rental location at 9am when they opened for 30 mins with no one asnwering and no voicemail. I’m reasonable confident Uhaul will resolve this, and I’ll most likely rent from them again. However I won’t be using this location again. Wheather this mess is a result of fraud or office clerical errors really doesn’t matter. Movings stressful enough. Who needs the extra stress spending hours dealing with this nonsense the morning after you’ve moved. I can not emphasize enough the importance of taking photos/videos when picking up and dropping off vehicles. Or you could be on the hook for whatever they decide to charge you.

They recorded wrong fuel reading. Wrong mileage reading and couldn’t understand a word the guy said. One employee there with 8 people waiting. 45 minutes to get checked out.

Truck was in a sad state. Driver door is severely damaged and makes a loud noise when opening. Passenger door hardly closes. Windshield is cracked. Wipers are barely functioning and the metal frame of the wipers scrapes the window. Interior cab light doesn't work. Cargo light won't turn off. The gas cap is missing, and the truck was given to me with a half tank. In addition, the people at the office were inattentive. They were more interested in the television than anything else. There was no mention of a rental contract, and I didn't get any form of documentation that I even had the vehicle. I will not be returning to this location, nor would I recommend anyone else does.

So this location was great and the guy was super nice and laid back and the whole process was very easy. HOWEVER, this was my THIRD UHAUL location for the day! Your reservation system is absolute shit. I “reserved” vans at two places only to learn they don’t have vans there and I needed to go to another one? You guys really need to get your shit together and not have people be able to make reservations for rentals at locations THAT DON’T HAVE UHAUL TRUCKS.

My reservation included moving blankets and dollies, but when I picked the truck up neither of those items were with the truck. Without the additional equipment and with movers scheduled to show up, we had no option but to use our personal linens for protecting furniture and ruined some in the process. Because I did the 24/7 pick up option, it was before office hours and no one was able to address the issue at that time. After I returned the truck, I checked the box stating I did not agree with the charges because of the lack of moving blankets/dollies. I never heard back from a representative like the website stated, and was charged the full amount anyway. This was a very poor experience to have on a moving day.

U-Haul as a corporation needs to visit this location or audit its transactions because I was scammed into paying more money than I should have. I was charged by mile of driving, and I drove no more than 5 miles MAX but was charged for 23 miles. This company fudges the numbers so be sure to take before/after pictures of the odometer. After I attempted to resolve the situation and someone contacted me saying they would fix it, it has remained unfixed and my later attempts to contact the location have been unanswered. The location does not answer the phone and I have still not been refunded. I am very disappointed in my experience with U-Haul and will not trust my business with them again as moving is stressful enough.
