U-Haul claims to be your "moving and storage resource," well my experience was anything but resourceful. For starters, I had made a reservation online to pick up my truck and when I went to the address that they sent me it became clear that this place had ZERO U-Haul trucks so why I was sent there for a truck pick-up was beyond me. They then proceeded to send me to another U-Haul pick-up location, where I was thinking that this was going to be more promising than the last, WRONG. They had no trucks and no record of my reservation EVEN WITH MY EMAIL CONFIRMATION. They had no trucks available and the ones that they did have were not able to leave the city parameter. Again, useless and left without any truck to move. After being given another number I was guided to yet ANOTHER U-Haul location where I was FINALLY able to receive a truck, but after about 2 hours of getting ubers, walking, and calling and waiting for an answer to this problem. Please do better at this because this made my experience horrible and anyone looking for a moving vehicles, I highly recommend looking elsewhere because this was a joke of a service and the biggest waste of my time.Kayla L.

To improve, take the fact that you ARE in the moving business seriously and buy into that by maintaining inventory of moving equipment - ESPECIALLY pads. More Detail: My original rental location was automatically changed by U-haul since the original location was not an option. In addition to the Van rental, I requested to rent a furniture dolly, and pads to protect my belongs while loading / unloading. Knowing this location had horrible service reviews, I proactively called at to confirm with the representative that they had the equipment which I requested - he said yes but it is first come first serve. When I arrived at 20 minutes later the representative claimed they never had stock of furniture dollys or pads - just utility dollys.. I'm moving furniture which requires protection, not utility equipment. When pressed, the rep went on to claimed his â€˜boss' never purchased these items - which seemed odd for an authorized uhaul neighborhood dealership.Thomas S.
Office was a trailer with a walk up window. Not up to U-Haul standards in my opinion. They ran out of moving blankets even though I had reserved some.Paul M.
I did get a voicemail the day before my reservation letting me know that they didn't have any trucks for me the next day and told me to call a number to find a truck. I'm appreciative for the call and left voicemail the day before. I'm also appreciative that customer service was nice enough to help me find a smaller 10' truck instead of the 15' truck I reserved. My problem with how this played out is that 15' truck that I reserved simply wasn't available, and calling me the day before doesn't give me a lot of time to adjust my plans. So now going forward, I don't feel like I can totally trust in Uhaul to be able to give me the truck that I need and I reserved. In my opinon, this kind of violates a key aspect of a reservation system b/c it doesn't really securely reserve anything. So I have a problem with that process and I think for sure it should be improved. As a backup, I have also made a reservation with Budget in case something falls through. The pickup experience was pretty wacky for me, unfortunately, and it's not a level of stress I will want to deal with going forward making reservations. Please improve it.Jordan S.
Location said it opened at 8am, however, there was no staff present until 8:15, and I was not able to leave the lot until 8:30. When people have moving plans and need a truck at a certain time, tardiness is unacceptable. The location should promptly be open and operational during advertised business hours.DAVID P.

I booked a dolly as well as the van. On arrival I was told they didn't have a dolly. Had to drive 20 mins to the Lincoln Park depot and then 20 mins back. What's the point of reserving items online if you don't supply them to the customer? Van was fine, disappointing service.Andrew L.

The first place we were told to pick up the UHaul was not helpful at all. It was at a gas station, and they could not give us any information. U-Haul never emailed me the code to get the keys, so we were just stuck outside. I called a separate location (665 N Halsted, Chicago) and I was legitimately shocked at how rude the manager was. He yelled at me because I thought one truck was mine, but I was confused. He mumbled and was so rude to me. He even didn't tell me that there was no parking, and I almost got towed.Caroline J.
Your staff is completely unhelpful. The truck was full of snow. The door was frozen shut. I had to ask them to come out of the trailer to show me how to open the back given that it was frozen shut. I also asked for explicit instructions on how to return the keys and the response was vague at best. The U Haul was dirty (yet WE were charged a cleaning fee???) and it came with half a tank of gas. When there is a blizzard in Chicago, these trucks should come with full tanks so there are no gas issues if you get stuck on a highway. I was actually astounded by the lack of professionalism, and the lack of care applied to your vehicles by your staff. The entire day I was thinking about a better alternative for my next event. That is not what you want your customers thinking about (ie how to avoid uhaul next time).Keyshawn F.
Get employees who are not rude too the customers and helpful I have never been treated with more disrespect and not helpful the one employee that was there my truck was stuck in the snow and my window was piled up with snow and he was very rude I will not come too that location again I paid 50 for my truck too be reserved and it wasn't readyKESHEA S.
The cashier/employee at the location is extremely rude. I've rented from this location several times and have interacted with this same person numerous times; he is always very unpleasant, and I've even seen him raising his voice to other customers. This is by far my most convenient location, but I will drive a few more miles to avoid this location in the future. He 100% deserves to be reprimanded.Benjamin B.

The truck I rented on 1/24, while technically "clean" and free from trash, was extremely dingy/dirty on the inside. It had clearly been smoked in many times and had a sticky grime over the entire interior. More direct to my negative experience was the poor service at the counter. My app wasn't working properly to get my truck, so I had to pick up my key from the desk. The guy there basically yelled at me and said I wasn't using the app properly, tossed me a key, and literally said "if the truck isn't out there for some reason, it's not my fault and I can't help you get a different one." Truly one of the worst customer service interactions I've had with any company in my life.Ben B.
