Returning the truck at Keen's was easy and quick. A great conclusion to a cross country move. U-Haul and its dealers made for an easy move.
The keys were not in the lock box. So if no one was there, wouldn't have been able to access.
My concern is not with Kean automotive, but with your online system. As I live overseas, I used my current drivers license from the UAE when booking. At the site, your system did not think I was at the right location, even thought google maps showed me right beside the truck. Then, your system asked for an additional piece of ID as I was using my UAE license. DO you carry your passport with you? Is there a reason the system did not ask me for it when I made the reservation? After 40 minutes on the phone, on your website that timed out, someone from Kean was able to help me. Today I get a bill where i have been charged and after hours fee, even though your contract says i must use my mobile to return if it is after hours. It was 1:30pm, AND I am being charged for your coverage that I had to turn down several times in the booking and checking out. Last time i needed a truck National agreed to meet me a location that is closed on weekends just to help me out. I will only call them in the future.
Online booking defaulted me to pick up at 1049 McPhee Ave, Courtenay, BC V9N 3A1. NEVER default someone to 1049 McPhee Ave. Waited 1H 45min for dude to process customer before me. He was competent to hook up equipment. But could not perform the simplest task on his tablet. His knowledge of your IMS was horrendous. I left went to Keen Auto and they had my rental done in 15 minutes. Keen Auto UHaul 5 stars, clean, friendly, helpful. (1049 McPhee, Disorganized employee woefully unfamiliar with your software (1 out of 5 stars)).
Your reservation system sucks. Had what I needed booked a week in advance, the day before pickup, was told I would have to drive 45 min to another town to get what I needed. I rebooked for 2 weeks later, day before was told I would have to take a smaller trailer or drive to another town to get one. After driving 45 min and waiting 30 min to pick it up, was told there was none there. Had to go to another location and finally someone who seemed to know what they were doing. I do not recommend booking on line, as uhaul doesn't seem to keep their word after online system says â€œconfirmedâ€! The guy at keens auto was very helpful, but no one else at uhaul seemed to care about my time or schedule.
I just wish the place had more units.
When I went in he was very short with me. Gave me the paperwork and key and said I think you know where it is. Never did a walk through. Never showed me anything on the rental forms or gave me my forms that I needed for insurance which I said I didn't want and the guy said it was mandatory. Which it is not. The uhaul Was disgusting and there was ashes in the ashtray. I found old food that my son almost ate. There was no inspection sticker on the uhaul either from their lot. And when I called the main uhaul office and told them about the insurance thing I had an area manager named teddy dfantis call me and pretty much call me a liar on the phone and was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this location to anyone ever and I've contacted a lawyer to deal with the situation as I feel I've been taken for a ride.
No information on how the system works. The truck was fine but I did not know that I was going to be getting emails and ended up paying more than I should've.

Poor hours of 9:AM to 4:00PM Poor days as not open on weekend, When do these people think we move? Had to on-line return while tripping around unlit gravel parking lot, Will never do this again!
Was charged much more than the advertised rate and mileage allowed.
After-hours drop off was easy to use.
Computer processing of application was cumbersome Service rep was frustrated by system.
The Westlock U-Haul was trying to charge us 55 miles of our mileage allowance. What was bull shit cause we were allowed 400 likes more then we drove. NEVER again. And I didn't get money back for cleaning the truck or no dolly in the truck when I got it in the first place. BULL SHIT.

The only issue was that the high beams didn't work.
I've twice used them for drop pff's. They are fast, polite and efficient. The premises are clean and organized. You are doing everything you should be doing in my opinion. Perhaps the only suggestion I could make is better signage of your location.
So then, My U-HAUL experience started out normally enough. I booked a truck online and agreed to use the "convenient" EZ 24/7 Truck Share system (or something to that effect - I can't find any reference to it on the website). I was simple enough, though it took numerous tries to get my photo's to upload. But, after a good half hour of attempts, it worked. The time, was of no real concern . . . because, the RentAll place on McPhee that I was to pick up the truck from was closed with doors locked. I found the truck easily enough. After clicking the button stating I had found the truck, I was directed to pick up my keys from the agent at the counter. Simple enough, if there had been an agent. During this time, I had also been in contact with 4 different U-HAUL agents on my phone. They tried their best. They tried calling the rental agency - no answer (no one was there, the doors were locked). And they tried calling the agents home number - again, no answer. My scheduled pick up time was 10:00 AM. The time stated on the front door that the RentAll was open. It wasn't open. As well, there were other groups of very unhappy U-HAUL customers at the front doors. Some banging on the doors in frustration. Others complaining, but waiting until someone would open up so they could rent a truck. I had limited time available to me. So I called and talked to another U-HAUL rep (the 4th person) who was the one trying to contact the owner of the RentAll place. By this time it was 11:15. They arranged to switch my rental from the McPhee location to the Kean Auto location. The Kean Auto location did not have a 10' truck available, so they offered my a 20' for the same price. I agreed and left the McPhee location around 11:30. Kean Auto is, unfortunately, tucked back from 29th St. and I did pass it, twice, before realizing how to get to their lot. The gentleman at the counter was, shall I say, "displeased" that I was there. At least that was the impression I got from him. He said this sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME. Not just on occasion, but ALL THE TIME. Even my son's girlfriend had warned me away from the McPhee location stating, "10:00 appointment? You won't get out of there before noon." I had a feeling she would be right. And she was. I was finally on my way out of the Kean Auto lot at about 12:30. Only 2 and a half hours after my guaranteed rental appointment. The rental return was a walk in the park. I topped up the fuel and had cleaned out the box. so it was quick and painless. I would strongly recommend pulling the license from the RentAll location. It is a horrid looking facility from the outside. Lots of broken down equipment along the side and the condition of the inside of the store (looking in from the front doors) was dirty and nasty and disgusting. I would never purchase anything from them. If I ever need to rent a truck again in the future, I will look elsewhere before I consider U-HAUL again.

Truck we ordered not available. Incorrect invoice sent - wrong customer, wrong invoice. Incorrect invoice sent another time - right customer, wrong address, wrong amount. We were told we wouldn't be charged for the 2nd day because of the inconvenience and expense incurred from wrong truck size
Kean Auto gave me excellent service & went the 2nd mile. The provincial U-Haul rep seemed unaware of where inventory really was located & told me there were NO car carriers on Vancouver Island. We HAD to find our own.
