Excellent service all the way through online reservation to pick up to drop off.
The truck's tires were quite worn which I considered a safety risk at this time of year. Also, it was disappointing to find out that smaller locations/towns will not guarantee that the equipment the customer requires is available at that location at the time needed. U-Haul's expectation is that the customer will drive to the â€œnearest available location â€œ to pick up the equipment they need. That takes perhaps up to 3-4 hours for at least two people, plus the expense of gas for the extra person and the U-Haul equipment. Quite an inefficient process!
Overall I was a little disappointed. Not so much with the locations but just U-haul in general. First I set my pick up location to be Blackfalds. Upon getting my confirmation call I was told it would be in Red Deer, which I was not anticipating or planning on and I had to re-adjust my plans and incurred extra costs. It was not very clear to me on the website that this would happen. Second, there was no way on the website to add extra days to the reservation. I spent quite a bit of time on hold and being transferred around to add this extra day. I finally got this done, and my contract showed the days. However upon dropping the truck off, I was told the extra days were not included in the amount I paid. Again there was no clear mention of this anywhere. Third, the truck had tires on it that are not approved for winter driving, and it's actually the law in BC to have winter tires on the truck. Overall these things cause a lot of extra grief and stress. It should be u-hauls goal to make this process as simple and stress free as possible. Moving is stressful enough. This was not needed! At this point I still feel I was charged twice for the extra days as described above and I am not please. I would like someone to contact me at 587-370-1072.

This was an absolute terrible experience. I contracted (and paid for) a one-way rental trailer. I traveled that one way, and on the day before I was to return my rental at my one-way destination, I was called by Cassandra (403-235-1125) and told I had to return my unit back at the origin of rental (I was given another return option farther away). The reason I was given for the issue was that the destination town was full. That is fine, but in trying to work through possible solutions with Cassandra, such as returning the unit early, returning it later in the week, etc, in a very condescending manner, she only gave me this one possible solution, and I quote: â€œIf you know anybody that wants to open a U-Haul dealer in your town, give me their number. Then they can open a dealer and you will have someplace to return your trailer.â€ I eventually returned the unit to the origin, costing me a day of work and a tank of gas. The contract was amended from one-way to in town lowering my cost by $89, but Cassandra wouldn't even offer that up on her ownâ€¦she had to be directly pressed on this. This was a terrible customer service experience and I am now in a place where I not only want to avoid U-Haul, I am having a hard time resisting the urge to share my experience with anyone who will listen.
Was more then double what we were told it would be.....
We wanted a 15 foot truck and ended with a 26 foot - same price but had to be way more expensive for gas - even though they had 3 15 foot trucks there and we had booked one a month previous. Start with a full tank of gas rather than try to match what was in the tank at the start.
Have a tow dolly available at the sight
make sure brakes are working, and don't charge for extra day because customer had to take another route because of no brakes on trailer and took alot longer
Your website is completely horrible
At the pickup location they should check out that the equipment is in good shape and that everything is working. At the drop off location they really are friendly and helpful.
Have more equiptment available. Also online allowed me to book a 26 ft truck which wasnt even available. Had we proceeded, we wouldn't have even known that we had to travel elsewhere to get it till a few days before. Totally not cool. Should make that more clear when ordering online.
The girl I dealt with was thorough and professional. When she asked if I was returning anything - blankets, etc., I explained that there were blankets, an appliance dolley and a four wheeled dolley in the trailer when I picked it up (I didn't realize it until I opened the back to start loading). I did not request these items and did not rent them. I explained what had happened with the rental, as noted previously and she was apologetic. She emptied the unit and put the equipment in a storage area of their building and the blankets were taken to be washed (they were just lying in a crumpled stack when I opened the trailer and had not been washed). She inspected the unit and asked all the relevant questions. We unloaded and left. She gave exceptional service and was the best part of this entire experience.
U-Haul employees are always friendly and helpful. Equipment is always great.
You could have the vehicle that was reserved available seeing as I ended up with a 15 foot van instead of a 24. You could also refund when I bring it back to days early.
This location was staffed by rude cold people that didnt make me feel welcome. On top of that im still quite upset at the bait and switch tactics of uhaul and the extra costs it pushed on me. This is totally an unacceptable way of running a business. I will never work with uhaul again.
I was not provided with the size of truck I put resereve on and there was less than a quarter tank of gas in the truck. It was not what I consider clean.
