The location was very good. The gentleman in Custer helped a lot. He opened on his day off to assist us. The only problem we had was the scheduling thru the regional office. I requested a pick up on 20 December ( Sunday). Regional didn't advise Or know that the Custer location was closed that day. I recommend too anyone verify with the actual location the pickup time/date

Really disappointed that our friends picking up the trailer for us had their card charged instead of ours the one that reserved it. Then the return location couldn't help us get the card charge reversed and out on our card.

The owner of this particular location refused service to my hispanic brother-in-law. He was more than happy to rent the uhaul to me, a white woman. He had no idea that we were the same party. As he was finishing the transaction with me, he asked me if “that guy†was still hanging around. That's when I told him we were family. We felt unsafe and uncomfortable, but he was our only rental option at that point. I would never recommend this place to anyone. This experience made my family and I never want to visit South Dakota again.

Ratcheting mechanisms were extremely difficult to use due to mud and not being lubricated I was in a hurry with most things packed and having to stop and buy WD 40 was not planned

We pick up the truck, found it needed wiper blades and had a vibration in it. Took it u haul in New Castle, wy. They put blades on it, but didn't fix the vibration. Got the truck to Rapid City, roadside repair came out said truck had bent trim. U haul sent us to Dale's tires were they put on 6 new tires and a trim. Now it is 530 pm, we are catch in a snow storm, and had to get a hotel. WE WERE DOWN FOR 7.5 HRS BECAUSE THE TRUCK WAS NOT MAINTAINED. WE could have way ahead of the storm if the truck was MAINTAINED. It cost us 2 guys at $18. Per hour, plus the $75 for the added hotel stay.
