Despite checking in ahead of time, I found that I had to redo the entire process - had to call several times because the dashboard feature was not showing up on my phone. Finally figured everything out, only to discover no key in the lockbox. Luckily someone was in the tire store and was able to retrieve the key from the Dropbox - it had not been removed. Which means there was no inspection or cleaning of the vehicle between the past renter and me. It showed. The cab was dirty, the cargo area was dirty, and several things were not functional: the mirror adjusters, the temperature control. The right rear tire was low so I had to get it refilled. The maintenance alert and check engine light were both on. The engine ran quite ragged. Luckily the vehicle did not break down. There was something very weird about the odometer as well. I had no battery left in my phone so was not able to record the odometer before driving it. My trip was very short - no more than 15 miles total. However when I went to put in the original mileage estimate it forced me to over 500 miles below the current odometer reading. I can guarantee I did not drive the vehicle 500 miles over a four hour period in Brooklyn. I provided an inflated estimate of 33 miles and got overcharged just to be done with it. It appears to me that the prior renter did not record the odometer when they finished so I was forced to make up for some of the difference. Again, because no one inspected the vehicle between rentals. All in all an extremely poor experience. I'll rent from budget next time I'm in NYC

I had to wait an hour to get my U-Haul. There was confusion everywhere. The U-Haul was cleaned not fully gassed up. The dolly wasn't in it either. Location was inconvenient and they didn't know what to do.
Delano M.You need to provide clearer instructions about where to find the keys on the building, ideally with pictures, and post better signage about how to access them on site. Luckily an employee at the tire store was able to help.
Christopher P.I was not provided with the code to retrieve the car key from uhaul. I was given no instruction from the location's management on how to do so. I had to call U-Haul customer service three times in order to retrieve the key. On one of those calls, a uhaul employee insisted on emailing me an instructional video on how to retrieve the code instead of helping me directly. That email was never delivered. Overall it took me close to an hour until a customer service employee was able to give me a code for the car keys because uhaul's app and website were not working.
Rachel U.Have a person who is on site that can help you. I went to the location I asked everyone they all said call u-haul customer service which took a long time. It was a hour wait for customer service to answer a call. I also wrote them on live chat and got no response. Just terrible terrible terrible!!
