I had ordered a dozen of furniture pads, but there was none in the truck and I could not remove from the app during the check in. In the end I paid for something that I had not used.

Everything was in its place at the location, as expected. But that's where the story begins. First off all, the app (running in Android 14 on Google Pixel 6a) needs a quality assessment. It couldn't get the location until after a few tries. The photo scan on the back of the license never worked. I had to redo several operations to get it back to the same state and after multiple failures to provide acceptable pictures, and criteria was not clear about what made it acceptable and what not. There was finally a lack of clarity about how to get the key, with the lock combination letters printed very small in the app and easy to overlook. It was quite cold the whole time and and my fingers kept meaning to be rewarmed from one frustrating effort to the next. The whole process took 40 minutes, while we kept people waiting at our moving location. The whole process had the feeling of trying to get out of a breakout room, except without a box of candy at the end. Then there's the truck. It was labeled clean as I picked it up, and yet there were old drink containers in both the passenger and equipment compartments. The engine ran extremely loudly, particularly at low temperatures, and sounded like something from the 1980s in bad need of a tune-up. I could not get the key out of my steering column for a while, and finally figured it out by turning the ignition assembly backwards. Although the heat eventually came on after waiting long enough, no fan ever came on to blow it. Also, what year was that truck, anyway? The dashboard look like something from quite long ago. Plus, when I filled up the gas tank to return it, I noted that the gas mileage came was 5 mpg! I would call this truck just barely drivable, and unacceptable for re-rental without a healthy round of maintenance. I don't know who's responsible for that, but I suggest strongly It gets evaluated now. All together, the rental was a success and we did what we came to do. The shabby condition of the equipment and the difficulty I encountered running the app during the checkout process left a whole lot to be desired. It all makes a good story, but it does not reflect well on U-Haul all at all.
James CampbellHead light (driver's side) was out which made it a bit nerve wracking driving at night on country roads - please check lights. Otherwise, thanks for a nice, good working truck....may need it again in a few months.
Steven NakoExperienced issues with self check in. Local reservations folks were very rude and argumentative. Trucks heat functioned intermittently at best and we were quite cold.
Joel ShehadiLied about gas. Over charged me I filled it a little over half and you're trying to say it only had a quarter tank left? I want my money back. This place is a RIPOFF
