August 11th, 2018 Once upon a time not long ago, Saturday, August 11th to be exact, U-Haul was scheduled to assist in moving my daughter in an apartment in Longwood University. My scheduled appointment to pick up the truck was 5 pm, my arrival time, 4:50 pm. Great! One problem, no one was available, the business, Farmville Pawn Shop, was closed although the closing time of 6 pm was posted. I waited 10-15 minutes before realizing no one will show up. Panic time! I called U-Haul’s customer service, on hold for 20 minutes before someone answers. Very helpful, she explained the 24-7 shared time, in which didn’t mean anything to me since it was noted during the booking that this will be a manned location. Someone was to be available at the site. But good news! I was connected to a young lady that walked me through getting the keys and truck assigned to me. Awesome!! The lady said because of the tardiness; have the truck returned before the business opens the next morning, 10 am, no problem. I have the keys to the truck approximately 5:30 pm or so now I’m late with picking up the keys to the apartment so I left the truck for now and drove my car to pick up the keys, review the instructions and toured the apartment. I then picked up some odds and ends then back to get the truck. I unloaded stuff into the back of the truck but the door wouldn’t close, it was stuck! I drove the truck, unopened door and all to the nearest service station for help. The dolly I rented had to be put in the cabin laying across my daughter’s lap to make sure if didn’t fall out the truck. And it was very uncomfortable for her! A nice man, I believe he was a profession of the school, but he helped over 20 minutes trying to close that door, with no positive results. I thanked him and said I will take the truck back. I called U-Haul’s customer service again, this time on hold for over 40 minutes. It was getting very dark so I left the truck and started back to Longwood. Finally Pat answers and after explaining what happened, she asked where the keys were? I had them. Why did you keep them? Because I was awaiting instructions what to do next and I wanted the keys in case the door could be fixed. Pat instructed me to take the keys back and drop in drop box and that I should call after 8 am the next morning to get another truck. I took the keys back and planned to call the next morning. I didn’t plan to stay but here I am no overnight bag, medicine or contacts for my eyes. The next morning, calling U-Haul’s customer service. I was on hold approximately 45 minutes then explaining the whole issue once again. After his apology, he couldn’t find another truck within 30 miles, it was a Sunday. He put me on hold not telling me he was transferring me to another agent. This time, Natasha! Her job was to find me a truck and she too apologized, no trucks nearby but she can satisfy me on Monday morning. Miss a day of work and stay another night was out o

I did like the woman that was running this location. She was very helpful and friendly. She definitely handles her tasks efficiently and effectively.

This location accommodated a completely terrible customer service experience on your organization's part. Our original rental pick-up wasn't ready even though we had a confirmed reservation at a location local to us so we had to drive over an hour to Farmville, VA to pick-up our rental truck. This location was very nice, maybe they should become the customer service training center for your organization.

Truck did have trash in cab, not enough to delay getting the hell out of there. Prior Bumper damage was NOT marked and was a bit of a concern for stability. Prior Roof edge damage not marked, ?. NEVER GOT A CONTRACT until I called U-Haul and finally got a .pdf. Only got a "Terms and Conditions" file!!!???

Originally i had requested a different pickup location. I was never emailed a confirmation for the actual pickup point, which was not the location i had requested. when we arrived to pickup the trailer, we were told that our pickup location was 30 minutes down the road, however, that location had closed for the weekend. The Farmville Pawn, whom i found while driving, was very helpful in getting my trailer moved to their location.

Our experience with U-Haul was VERY disappointing. We reserved the u-haul for 9am (all emails and confirmations had that time) and no one was there. We called the 800 number and were told that this particular location didn't open until 10am. The customer service wasn't great on your end or the location's end. We were given a discounted mileage rate (we only traveled 12 miles) and were given $10 off of the rate. When we went back to the location at 10am their "internet kept cutting out" and although I did the express check-in, it took almost 45 minutes for us to get out of there with the u-haul. All of this put us way behind schedule and was such an inconvenience. I don't think I will ever use U-haul again because of this.

It seemed as if i had to go through many emails and phone calls to get the truck i needed and when the truck wasn't available in this area i had to choose either a smaller or larger truck in this area. I was offered a price adjustment for the larger truck If wanted it and that made me happy. We got everything moved and it all worked out.Happy with the service overall, just alot of emailing and call this place and that place when I didn't have time to stay on the one issue.
