The store was very cluttered and at first I didn't know if I was in the right place. The key drop box was just a cardboard box inside the door. Could be much more professional looking. I rented the vehicle at a different location originally, but then was told I had to drive 15 km out of my way AND pay for it. Have a better vehicle transfer system so the customer can pickup at their chosen location and not have to pay for the inconvenience.

the fuel level what that was showing in the contract paper was not same on the truck. Had to pay $30 for gas for driving only 7 miles which is unbelievable. the lady was very rude. Never ever will take any service from U-Haul. worst experience ever.

The vehicle had not been cleaned, receipts found under the seat, blankets not folded - the gas transfer pump on the gas tank was leaking, which could have result in serious consequential consequences if the leaking fuel had ignited - This vehicle was not safe to drive and should have been taken out of service. In addition, when booking my vehicle instruction provided that I would collect it from 1270 Alberni Hwy, but received a call from your dispatch the following day stating that I had to collect the vehicle from Nanaimo, which cost be $165 for the taxi, instead of $40. In addition, your agent at Nanaimo stated that he had changed the drop off address to 1270 Alberni Hwy, but when arriving at that location was inform that the vehicle is scheduled to be dropped off at Nanaimo. So my whole experience of hiring this U-Haul vehicle has been a dreadful nightmare. Considering the condition of the vehicle, and in good customer service would indicate that I should be compensated with a refund of my rental charges.

Picked up U-Haul and it stated the tank was at 1/4. I drove it for a max 10 mins and it wouldn't start. Looked at the gas gauge and it showed it was at a quarter tank. Had to call roadside assistance and the rep told me that they are programmed to "run out of gas" at a quarter tank. They should be given to customers at a full tank, very unprofessional. Had to wait an hour and 45 minutes for help. Missed my ferry and had to spend an extra night in a hotel because of it (was traveling to another province). Was told a manager would call me in 1-3 days, it's been 4 days with no phone call. Extremely poor customer service.

Had a very strong door of gasoline in the box and at rear of truck...could not see what the cause was but very unpleasant...had to get fresh air a couple times as over powering..the employee at the location Also the employee smells the gas upon returning the truck and said it would be looked wat

My only disappointments were probably out of your control. 1. Cargo vans can't be taken out of town. 2. No 10' trucks available so I was given a 15' however at no extra cost as it should be. Only way this could have better would have been for someone to quickly explain the dials etc. in the cab i.e. where is the button to turn off the tow/haul or where is the set of controls for the fan and the heat and AC.

Your online pickup process is a failure. I am a former VP of Software Development for an enterprise software company. Your customer experience is beyond terrible. I went through three browsers and two phones and your app, and was eventually able to find a combination (Firefox on Android) that worked. Not only did every other combination fail, they PROVIDED ZERO FEEDBACK ON THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. If anyone on one of my teams did this, i would fire them. It is also clear that your poor online help people ALSO get ZERO FEEDBACK ON THE CAUSE OF FAILURE, so they are completely unable to help customers. They were courteous and polite, and completely, utterly, useless, because your software team hasn't provided them with any of the information they need to do their jobs. I am mortally certain that some amoral ignoramus in your organization uttered the statement, "My teenage kid could do this!" when refusing to pay for professional software development services. I am actively and forcefully dis-recommending your company to everyone i know because despite your employees being uniformly excellent you obviously have nothing but contempt for your customers and for the software teams who should be making this kind of online pickup experience fast and simple instead of an hour-long nightmare.

Not necessarily the responsibility of the pick up location person, however I booked the truck to come from Nanaimo (on Vancouver island) to vancouver which required taking the ferry. It would have been nice to know that this particular truck due to its weight classified as a commercial vehicle and cost extra fare (in addition to over height and over length).

We had hoped to rent from your location in Parksville but we were told there were no trucks available. I guess we tried to reserve too late & it was the last weekend of the month. We didn’t realize. Too bad. The extra kilometers, gas & time to drive the extra distance twice cost us. We’ll know next time. :(

i would like to open a claim against U-Hual. I received a call telling me the car trailer was in Victoria. Also received a confirming email that the trailer was at Victoria. I booked this a month in advance. The trailer was not at the Victoria location. I had to travel three hours to pick one up. Then you still charged me $285. This was a big inconvenience to me. Costing me a half of day of travel. The manager at the Victoria Topaz location was frustrated saying it was not his fault. In the end, the customer lost out.
