The clerk was unprepared. I signed up wanting to do the pickup through the app on my phone since I’m hearing impaired, instead the clerk had me talking to the representative on the phone to check in for a pickup. And the truck that we got, the right side mirror didn’t work - we would rotate it into place and it would swing right back. There were also a lot of cosmetic damage to the truck that wasn’t marked with an ‘x’ but the clerk didn’t really give us a chance to inform him of anything. I also got back to drop off the truck between 5-6pm and nobody was there to receive it so I was charged for the full 8 hours I had it reserved for. So basically, please be more prepared and be more receptive to customer needs and give us a chance to say what we want to do rather than just ushering us out of the door and handing us the keys and that’s it.

The original contract had a misprint on mileage. Lisa said she would fix it. This morning when I got my invoice I was shocked to find out that the mileage was WAY over what I drove. This cost me an additional 30 plus dollars. I tried to call to fix this. No answer. Had to take a ride share to the store. One person was there who said they couldn't help me so they gave me Lisa's card. Tried to call her, no answer. I am currently awaiting a call from the U haul area manager to rectify this situation. I rent trucks from u haul on a weekly basis. I will not use this place again.

***IN NO WAY DOES THIS REVIEW REFLECT THE GENTLEMAN WHO WORKS THERE OR UHAUL THE COMPANY***They don't answer their phone the mailbox is always full cant leave a message. Will not take cash and she overcharged my card. I rented a utility trailer on a Saturday returned it first thing Sunday morning. They charged my card for 2 days on the first day and when I returned it the next day they charged me again. Which I had no idea of. I didn't know about it till I went to pay for groceries. After shopping for 45 min and waiting to check out for another 10 min. After all my food was rung up and bagged my card was declined that was Sunday night. Here it is Friday and my account still hasn't been credited. I will never ever rent anything from the dealer at 714 4th st Oakland CA

My original reservation did not have a vehicle assigned (though the advertisement says 24/7 rentals) and I went to the Oakland location hoping to get some help. The Oakland location had a clerk who was working through a manager on a phone and she originally thought I was someone named Monica, though I told her my information when we started the call. Overall this experience was unorganized and unprofessional. I will never use your services again and I will tell everyone I know about this egregious morning. The only thing I enjoyed was the rooster across the street from the Oakland UHaul location.

my truck was transferred and no one told me. I had scheduled an 8:30 am pickup at the gilman street location which i planned movers around, but the truck was moved to a location that didn't open until 10. in addition, the location didn't have any of the moving pads I had rented. the truck only had half a tank of gas...though it was clear I was moving 350 miles away. the whole experience was terrible.

We went 18 miles in the U-Haul and were charged 3.6 gallons, which seems very incorrect. I called and emailed to inquire about an explanation and have not received any response.

The location was closed although online it says open on Sunday's. No one answered the phone number left on the door for drop-offs. When I called customer service, they weren't sure why the location was closed. Your own company doesn't know if locations are opened or closed. There were no signs for where to leave the keys (no dropbox, etc.) Also, I was unreasonably charged a $25 cleaning fee for a small piece of crumpled painter's tape and two pieces of rope. Very very disappointed in this service. Definitely not using U-Haul again.

I filled out an Express Checkout online for another Uhaul location. after some minutes, that truck wasnt available and I was sent to E D Coat Rental. The lady in charge talked to me via the phone (at that location) and it seems I had to answer many questions, as if I was starting from scratch. I already reserved the truck online with credit card, Drivers license etc, Also I discovered after the fact, that the lady signed me up for premium insurance for $42! I did not, nor do not check this option as my Progressive Auto insurance covers this. I had written a note to Unhaul regarding this but havent received a response. Also, the truck had only 1/4 gas in it, and so I had to buy gas right off the bat. Usually buy gas on the return! I wont rent a truck from this location again. And Im probably going to use another moving rental service.

At first we went to a different location to pick up our reserved truck and they said it was cancelled so they couldn’t help us. We went over here and she was able to help us right away they got the truck and paper work ready in 5 minutes and we were good to go. Great customer service. Antonio was really nice explaining the truck to us.

My email told me to go to Alameda location. Then the lady at Alameda yelled at me for going there. I tried to tell her that the email told me to go there. She raised her voice so I left. The location in Oakland told me the van that was reserved for me was unavailable. She told me she may be able to get me a van. We both agreed this app is terrible and it made everything more difficult. You should fire the lady in Alameda. I had an awful experience with her the week before but I will save that for yelp. I will never use Uhaul again.

I lost my sunglasses in the truck and was trying to get them back. The representative is actually never there. I went there 3 times when it was supposed to be opened, and no one. Someone also asked me if it was opened, and I had no idea. No hours or days when it is supposed to be open on the door. Poor returnal of keys, where just about anybody with a hanger could steal a truck. I called multiple times, she said see you tomorrow first thing in the morning, even though it was supposed to be closed. The last time I called, she said she was busy on the other line, she would call me back... to no avail. This is the last U-Haul place I would get a rental from, extremely poor service.
