Took over an hour. Did check in online and then had to do it ALL over again on the store. Saved no time. They had NO IDEA how to do it. I will AVOID renting a uhual AT ALL COSTS from now on.

Spent time filling out the online forms only to stand in the gas station for 40 minutes while everyone else who walked in got bumped in front of me. The Uhaul was covered in snow/ice upon pickup so we had to scrape off the windshield, hood and what we could reach on the roof. Giant chunks of ice were flying off at the vehicles behind us, also had a vibration around 50-55 mph, it was raining and the wiper blades were only smearing the water making visibility very low. Overall this was an awful experience and I will not use this fleet or business again.
The first person I dealt with at pickup at this location was not knowledgeable about how to handle the transaction. She did not know where the keys were or how to check us out. We reserved a furniture dolly and pads which they did not have. She asked used to come back at 2:00 when someone who knew what to do would be there. I did not have the luxury of time as we were on a deadline for other tasks throughout the day. I asked her to call a supervisor to help which she did. She asked me to complete my transaction over the phone with U-Haul, and I did. U-Haul processed my credit card over the phone. The attendant finally got access to the keys and we were on our way, but this process had made us late to our next destination. It wasn't until later when I called to find out where to return the truck in the city (we had a one-way reservation) that I was told there was no record of me having equipment. The first person I spoke to put me on hold and ten minutes later a new person answered and I had to explain my story a second time. She said that since there was no order that showed I had equipment out, she could not process the return for me and send me to another location to drop off. I offered to return the truck to the facility I picked up from if that would help. She ultimately couldn't help me either and sent me to a third person that I waited on hold for another 5 minutes to speak to. This third person, Samantha, who apparently worked at a facility that boxed and shipped but also rented u-haul trucks, finally helped me. She requested that I return it to the facility where I picked it up and credited me the mileage to return it, plus the cost of the dolly and pads that I never received but had paid for up front. I would commend this young lady Samantha if I knew where her facility was or if I had her last name. She was incredibly accommodating, apologetic, and patient. She ultimately got us on our way to completing our task. When I finally arrived back at the facility in Rising Sun, the gentleman there was unhelpful, rude, dismissive, indifferent, and unprofessional. He immediately ignored my request to drop off. He told me to call U-Haul and deal with them. All I asked for was a receipt for dropping it off and for him to inspect the truck. He said, â€œIf I can do it, you can do it.â€ I had no idea what that meant. Had I known that I could have done this on my own over the phone or online, I would not have gotten involved with him. My husband went into the store to request his help again as I called U-Haul once again and dealt with being transferred multiple times until I got someone who would help me. My husband was even more frustrated than I was by the store owner's dismissal and lack of assistance. The man told my husband, â€œI am done with U-Haul at 5:00.â€ I finally completed the inspection of the truck and the check-out online with the assistance of a lady over the phone. I asked only that I receive a receipt via email for my transaction. As of this point I have no receipt for the exact amount I paid or that the truck was indeed returned properly. I realize that during COVID restrictions things will be handled differently, but this process was utterly ridiculous. I have used U-Haul in the past and will use them again, but I would NOT recommend this facility in Rising Sun ever. In fact, I will steer people away from it and suggest that you consider not employing this facility for U-Haul in the future as they clearly do not represent you well.
I didn't have an issue with location but verification process via mobile took longer than expected and delayed the process longer than if I would have went into the store and interacted with someone face to face.
This was a good location. The truck was easy to find and in very good condition. My issue stems from Uhaul themselves. I paid $1,000 to get a uhaul truck to drive my belongings across country. I picked a uhaul location that was 2 miles away. Then, the morning of my rental (my rental was at 11 am), I went onto the Uhaul website to make sure I had all of the correct information to pick up the truck. And I found that my rental was now moved to this new location, 30 minutes away from my belongings, and my time slot had been pushed back by 2 hours. No one from uhaul called/emailed/tried to contact me in any way to provide this information. Obviously this would not work, as I had a team scheduled to move my belongings. I called Uhaul about the issues, and they said there were no closer trucks in the size I rented nor the next size up. If I was willing to do self-checkin (which I had no intended to do as I needed a receipt), then I could get the truck at my originally scheduled time. They did provide me a $50 refund, which was just enough to cover the Uber to get to the truck, as it was now 30 minutes away. But, beyond paying for the uber + the additional gas for the extension to my trip, I now had to figure out how to add an hour to my transit and still get back to my belongings around 11 am to get my truck loaded. If you are stuck with using Uhaul, this location was as good as any (I apologize for associating my disdain with this location. The location is in no way at fault, I just do not have another forum to air my grievances.). But honestly, I would recommend a different company all together.
I delivered the truck with a full 3/4 of a tank.
The staff could not explain the steps to rent a truck. He could barely speak English and understood English even less. He could not answer my questions. He had me outside in the pouring rain walking around the truck looking for the key. It took me 45 minutes after I arrived before I drove out with the truck. The online said I would get a basic dolly with truck. When I opened truck there was no dolly so I stopped and borrowed one.
when I dropped off the vehicle I had to look for an attendant and after I gave him the key I asked what else I needed to do and he didn't say anything. I got the feeling that I was bothering him by being there.
Truck had a steering problem. Pantry 1 people were very rude !!
My husband dropped of the uhaul at approximately 430 on the day we picked it up and the man at the front not only was unhelpful on taking the uhaul back but then pretty sure scammed my husband saying it was a 20 dollar fee for him to be returning the uhaul.... to the drop of location that we picked.... hours early than we needed to be. Even though I had already paid for the reservation days before we picked it up. Then they had the gaul to try today to call and ask where the uhaul was after I had passed by this place this morning, saw the exact uhaul there and had to tell them as much. Then "all of a sudden" this guy remembers and apologized and said oh I'm thinking of another reservation. Do yourself a favor, go the few extra miles and drop it off somewhere else.
The worker was rude, and gave me a hard time about picking up the truck. My boyfriend paid for the rental, and the worker was demanding why I (the renter) wasn't paying for it myself.
I never received a call or an email from the location to let me know that I was to pick up my rental there (as is procedure per U-Haul). It was 20 minutes further away than the location that I requested, adding unnecessary miles to my rental. Additionally, the staff member that was there for pick-up was completely incompetent in the pick-up procedure. It was not her fault as she did not seem to have any training in the process. I had to help her figure out the process and ended up having her take pictures of all the documents that she gave me with her PERSONAL cell phone to make sure that the business had access to copies of the papers I'm sure she wasn't supposed to give me. This is a very poor reflection on the management. I also never received any furniture pads, which I had paid for prior to picking up my rental. I requested them from the aforementioned staff member. She could not find any and informed me there were none available. I was still charged for them even though I never received any. Some of my furniture was damaged as a result. Overall, it was an extremely poor rental experience from Pantry 1 Food Mart and Gas. I highly suggested renting from ANYWHERE else. I would never use this location again. In fact, I may never use U-Haul again.
Owner was rude. Wouldn't discuss anything with me or anyone from uhaul by phone. Even though there was an error on his end. The second person I spoke with on the phone there was super nice.
You should recommend the user watch the entire process video before signing up. It was frustrating using it. Also, on the phone you don't see the entire screen like you do on a laptop. Not bad once I figured it out.
Watch out for the clerk named AD. He'll change your contract without permission. Once changed, you'll jump through hoops to get it right, After the fact you be on the phone with Regional Managers trying to correct. He cancelled the pre-paid insurance without our knowledge and refused to correct it
The owner of this store came out of the store yelling and told me to move the truck from the parking spot I was in to a different spot, however I did not see any specific signs on the premises where the rental trucks were to be parked. Additionally, as mentioned in the previous review (post return) the brakes on the truck squeaked severely when making tight turns, even without much weight in the bed, this might be something to look into.
Better customer relations owner did not provide proper service was very rude it took 3 hours to get through paper work because he didn't know what he was doing and had to keep stopping to take care of other customers that kept coming in and then didn't provide all equipment causing us to return to pick up the equipment and he refused to do his job inspecting vehicle before I took possession of vehicle. I would not recommend this place I had no choice in using this place it was the only one around for 50 miles and he knew that and didn't care how we were treated I really feel that I should receive some kind of compensation for my time and grief the next time I will go to penske trucking who is 3x higher than haul and further away just so I don't have to give him my money

Took 1 & 1/2 hrs from the time I entered the store until I had the keys to the truck in my hand... This location required a reservation to be made online - rep in store said he could not do it. Got error twice on a confirmation screen after trying to make the reservation on my phone. Called U-haul customer service - on hold for 15 mins on a weekday! Rep said couldn't find this location as a valid U-haul rental facility. Transferred me to another Rep where I explained everything all over again and he said- "This is Tennessee, let me transfer you back to MD". Transferred me back to MD U-Haul customer service and I had to give info all over again and finally reservation went through. Then had to give the reservation number to the store clerk who had to enter all the info again and take driver's licenses and credit card info again and make calls to two contact numbers for verification. Then he did not even walk out to the truck with me to verify any previous damage. I have never had an experience in the past 20 years like this using U-Haul. Awful experience! Due to the delay, I encountered a lot of traffic and after loading the truck it made me get to my destination after midnight! Beware - U-Haul has very few locations where you can rent 1 way. This was the 5th U-Haul renting facility that I contacted near me and the other 4 said that they have "rotation" trucks which require you to bring them back to the same facility. That may make sense when you moving locally, but if you have a lot of mileage then that option is just ridiculous because you pay by the mile!
The convenience store employee I had to deal with could speak broken English. I had to wait an hour for him to show up. He had me go through some type of steps where I had to use the store phone to call a relative so something would connect on his laptop. Pathetic customer service.
Because this was a convenience store, I had to wait every time another customer came in the store.
I am not sure I would recommend this place. The person was not very friendly, nor helpful. We did a one-way rental and this was where we returned. When my son is finished with his job, we will need to rent a truck one-way for the return and I didn't get the feeling that there would be any trucks there nor that it would be easy to pick it up. The person who was working at the store was also expected to handle this. He kept having to stop what he was doing to wait on people coming in the store. I understand that and do not blame the person. But if I were coming to pick up a truck, I would not want to have to sit there and wait for who knows how long to take care of the paperwork, etc. if they had to stop every two seconds to wait on a customer. We will probably try to find another location that was more dedicated to U-Haul. However, having said that, it was the closest place to my son's apartment and it was fairly easy once the person explained that we could leave the truck, keys, etc. and he would take care of it and send us an e-mail. We did get the e-mail later on that evening and it was correct. But when it comes to picking up, I see this as being challenging and annoying.
The location needs to let renters know they do not have equipment when the reservation is made. It misleads customers that equipment is available when a reservation is made weeks in advance and then at pick-up are told there are no furniture pads or dollies available even though it's on the order. The location needs to take less than 45 minutes to confirm the order that has already gone through express check-out.
I didn't receive a call the day before. Then when I called that night and confirm they have an appliance dolly in the truck I've rented they tell me no. So then I had to go to home Depot to rent an appliance dolly. When I called u-haul to complain about my experience they took the charge off for the missing appliance dolly and gave me added mileage. When I was under the mileage anyway. The truck was left unlocked and the inside was disgusting. The whole experience was ridiculous and I won't be recommending u-haul for anyone's move from the food Mart on rt 1 nor saying anything nice about the customer service from u-haul...
