I rented a U-Haul truck from Hashemyars Service & Oil located at 20105 Vanowen Street, Winnetka, CA 91306. Around 12:30 p.m. on April 16, 2021, I was at the business establishment to return the pick-up truck. I was dressed casually in a pink Banana Republic t-shirt, jogging pants, and tennis shoes and behaving normally. A man with a mustache, blue dress shirt, big belly, Middle Eastern, black hair (hereinafter referred to as the “Person”), looked at me and approached. Without provocation, he suddenly raised his voice and asked, “Did you fill up the tank?” I explained calmly that I had not yet, and he raised his voice again stating that I need to fill the tank. I did not say anything in return, but just walked back to the truck to fill-up the tank. As I stood next to the driver's side door, he approached me and stood close to me less than 1 feet away without a face mask on. I asked him politely what type of gas goes in the truck. He raised his voice again and said in a harsh tone the number for the fuel. Because of the harsh tone and voice, I calmly asked the Person what his issue was towards me. And I asked him to wear a face mask because he was standing very close to me while talking and I am not vaccinated yet. He looked at my face and eyes and said something insulting about my appearance. I believe he insulted the way my eyes or hair appeared, but the words were not clear. He then started yelling profanities and hurling insults at me, such as “fuck” “shit” and “damn.” I was shaken by the violent and berating language towards me and felt confused because I had done nothing wrong. I was simply there to return a U-Haul truck. There was nothing in my words or behavior to warrant a barrage of profane verbal attacks. I did not curse, yell, or make any threatening or aggressive gestures towards this Person. I am generally a quiet and polite person and have never encountered, until now, a situation where I am treated in a hostile manner by a business establishment and yelled at with profanities and threatened and screamed at to leave. I asked to speak to this Person's supervisor, and he started yelling profanities and insults again and said he is the manager or owner. I drove the truck to the pump station area of the business establishment. While the oil was pumping, I approached one of the staff and asked him if he worked in the business establishment and he confirmed that he worked at the establishment. This person, who was male and appeared to be of Hispanic descent said that the person yelling at me was the manager. I started video recording on my iPhone for my safety. A staff of Hispanic descent approached me and said to give him the key. I gave him the key and this person inspected the truck. My phone holder was still in the car and I had not finished taking out all my belongings in the truck. I then went to the service desk to sign off paperwork while still recording for my safety. Before I could approach the service desk to sign off paperwork, the same Person yelled and cussed that I had no right to video record in his business. I explained that I'm video recording for my safety and I can record in a business establishment, but he was yelling profanities very loud, such as “fuck” “shit.” He threatened to call the police and yelled at me to leave the property. I explained that I have to sign off the vehicle to complete the transaction. I also had not finished inspecting the car for my belongings and left the phone holder in the car, but he was yelling and cussing and threatening me very loudly and would not give me the opportunity to complete the transaction and get my phone holder. I immediately left the establishment for my safety and called the police.

The process of returning the vehicle was a pain in the butt- and the nice man inside the gas station (store) didn't have a clue as to the process of returning a vehicle. (Poor thing). Therefore, it took me approximately 15 minutes to complete the return. This whole thing of doing business via cell phones is rather ridiculous - what happened to the good old fashion way of renting a truck!

There was a miscommunication regarding appliances dolly I requested and took a while to get it. The guy at the shop told me to provide the dolly number but the office I called told me that there is no such number. Eventually, the guy at the shop gave me a dolly with a condition of returning to him directly.

Person in charge not helpful...explained to him that I followed procedure regarding online check line, already asking me if I received the keys (I showed him my phone). Still he keep insisting that it's not complete, only when I tried to call support he checked he checked the computer and gave the keys..

Please remove your comment from the website which states that "6 hours" is enough time to clear out a 1 bedroom apartment. This is obviously a lie and now the customer has to pay an additional rental rate. This is a terrible sales ploy to make more money and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Lesson learned. If I use your services again, I'll be renting the truck for the whole day (12hours).

This location was absolutely abysmal. First, it had two employees, neither of whom knew how to operate the trailer coupler. They could not figure out how to attach the safety chains or brake chain to a standard hitch that has towed UHaul trailers dozens of times in the past. Then, the operator at the location ADDED SafeTow coverage to the reservation without asking me after I had specifically declined it, resulting in an extra charge to me. This constitutes fraud by the barest of meanings, and I will pursue all available legal remedies against UHaul and the location. To add insult to injury, the location then made it as difficult as possible to return the trailer, again with a third inept employee who had no idea how to operate the trailer, and who moved other trucks and trailers such that I could not easily back the trailer into the designated spot on the tiny, cramped premises of this location. This is one of the worst possible locations to rent UHaul trailers from and I will certainly spread the news everywhere I can. I will dispute the fraudulent charges, too. I demand a refund from UHaul.
