Experience is well below my prior uhaul renting experience at a different location. Not professional. Mileage reading was not accurate and when I pointed the mistake; the gentle man laughed and said he would correct it. But he didn’t. The truck was making whistling sound as I was driving; not a very comfortable feeling.

We reserved our U-Haul online app a location off of Michigan Road in Zionsville. When we made our online reservation we opted to be able to get the U-Haul outside of their office hours. We received an email telling us how to retrieve the truck keys etc. The day before we were Supposed to pick up the truck we called to verify our reservation since we had not heard anything. At that time the gentleman told us our reservation have been switched to a different U-Haul pick up location in Zionsville. My husband stopped by that location the same day later that evening to verify the reservation was good as we had people coming to our home to help us move in the morning around 9 o’clock. Our reservation stated we could pick the truck up at 7 AM. They assured us everything was well with the reservation. Well the next morning we go to pick up the truck and start following the online instructions. We were able to log in to the U-Haul account but then the pick up truck link would not work. After speaking with two U-Haul representatives for about 30 minutes they told us the location where the U-Haul truck was to be picked up did not complete their end of the reservation and there was nothing they could do. Remind you we already have paid people waiting for us to help us move. So we go home and come back at 10 AM when the location opens. We ask about what happened why we were not able to pick up the truck before they opened like we had reserved. The lady stated that it wasn’t her fault at the pick up location that the people at U-Haul customer service needed to click which truck we needed in order to finalize the reservation and allow us to get through the gate to get the keys. So My husband and I were finally able to get to our house with the U-Haul truck around 10:45 AM that day. The before hours pick up process did not work out for us, no one took responsibility, and the lady at the pick up location did not even seem to care or offer any apologies at all. On top of that customer service told me we did not reserve the truck with before hours pick up, which we did and received an email regarding that. I think when Uhaul switches the pick up location from one place to anyone, something got missed. Also, it would had been nice for Uhaul to at least call and let us know our pick up location had been switched....that added about 10 miles of unnecessary driving to our bill.

I was not able to access the key, and therefore could not use the truck I reserved. I called the 24 hour assistance phone number and no one answered. I chatted with someone online who told me to push the button that indicated I could access the keys (even though I could not), which I later found out prevented any further assistance. In the meantime, the area service manager was called and did not respond; in fact, the manager never contacted me (I was told I would be called once the business opened). I did later speak with someone about getting a refund (which is expected), who was helpful.

There was only one person on duty and we had to hook up the trailer ourselves which was OK with us as we have had several rentals recently and there were 2 of us.

Truck was not behind locked gates . Truck in back was dirty.

The whole process was arduous. If o reserve something online and provide my credit card I am counting on having it for the time allotted. Not to be told that they called to verify a different location but never left a message or send an email. I don’t answer calls from unknown numbers. Cancelling my reservation messed up our moving situation.
