Using U-Haul for our move was an up-and-down experience. Several U-Haul employees that we spoke with by phone were frustratingly not at all helpful. The long-distance move driving the 26-foot truck towing an Auto Transport trailer went smoothly. We were able to return the trailer when we first arrived at our destination with no problems. However, when we returned the U-Haul truck after unloading it the next day, it took 4 days and several phone calls to both Delco Plaza and to U-Haul to receive confirmation that we had returned the truck - even though we had returned it to an actual employee at Delco Plaza, which was the same place that we had returned the trailer with no issues.

U-Haul needs to make their hooks bigger on their tow behind enclosed trailers. They do not fit the typical big truck receiving hitch holes. I had to go out and buy extra D rings to make the hooks fit. The gentleman at U Haul made a big deal out of it and I told him it wasn't my fault U haul makes their hook openings so small. This is the third time this has happened.

This was a good experience, but only in the sense that I can do for myself. Interaction was minimal. Took 3 knocks at doors to figure out who I needed to deal with for U-Haul as the convenient store is the same address as the building on the other side of the U-Haul trucks. We unloaded, he asked where they were parked, took the trailer numbers, never left his station behind the convenience store counter.

This past move was the worst UHAUL experience of my entire life. I would like to file a formal complaint and request that I get part of my money back. To detail my experience: Booking/Reserving: When I tried to book online, it said a truck I wanted (20 foot) wasn't available so I called to see what options could work. A very helpful representative told me they would check for me and send a proposed reservation detail by 7 p.m. the next day. He noted that I received an odd text during this process with an Austin UHAUL address that was a bug that needed to be fixed. I never received the proposed reservation in the time-frame so I booked a 15 foot trailer at the Monarch Bastrop UHAUL location myself. When I went to check in for my UHAUL, I saw two reservations. I guess one was made on my behalf from the call earlier but it wasn't to my specifications, so I cancelled it. I checked in successfully for the Monarch-location UHAUL. Contract # 98023576 Pick-Up: Using the address that automatically populated in my calendar (Monarch RV Storage 932 Hwy 71 E Bastrop TX 78602), I was taken to the wrong location. I was at a RV storage but it wasn't called Monarch and it had no Uhauls. Then I checked my email reservation, and a DIFFERENT address was listed: 1186 N HWY 95 Bastrop, TX 78602. I canned Uhaul again to confirm what is the right address and a helpful rep told me the 1186 was the right address and even described the building for us. She also confirmed that the 15 foot truck I booked was no longer available but could give me a free upgrade to the 20 foot. Once I arrived at the Monarch location (30 minutes later than by pickup time at 8 am) and I saw UHAUL trucks but no place to check in. There was a building padlocked. I asked a passerby where to pick up the trucks and he said the owner was sleeping. He banged on the building for a few minutes until the UHAUL rep came out. He was not aware of the free upgrade but did give it to us. He oddly handed my card back without directing us to the truck, so we awkwardly waited for him to explain which truck is ours. Once we got on location, we realised he forgot to give us the utility dollies and other moving materials on my reservation. This is the first thing I want to be compensated for! The breakdown: A few hours in, we did end up extending our rental 3 or 4 more hours. An hour into that rental, the truck broke down. My partner Wyatt who drove the UHAUL (I just set up the rental), had to pull over on a busy highway. We called UHAUL to report the issue and they said they would send roadside assistance. We received a text they would arrive in an hour. An hour passed and nobody arrived. We were close to our updated deadline to return the truck, so I decided out of courtesy to call the local UHAUL location to inform them we are broken down, especially since google said the location was about to close. I also wanted to ask about getting my money back for these lost hours due to being broken down. This call left me livid. The owner was incredibly disrespectful when I called to inform him the UHAUL was broken down. He told me I received a free upgrade - as if that was relevant - and that I would not ever be compensated for this. He told me I could just keep the truck longer, which obviously wouldn't work since the truck was broken down. He also in a very frustrated tone told me that he in fact was NOT closing soon and that I picked up the UHAUL from the wrong location and that I woke him up before his open time. He did not inform me of this ONCE during pickup. So confusing! Immediately following this call, I called UHAUL again to file a formal complaint against him and that location. The lady on the phone told me she was combining my complaint with the claim for the roadside assistance. Once roadside assistance finally arrived, the consultant was extremely professional and effective. He told us it was a catastrophic failure and that the UHAUL would need to be towed. Given the fact that I did not want to connect with the rude UHAUL rep again, I asked if he would be informed that the UHAUL was towed, and the consultant confirmed that it would be in his records. He offered to book us another truck, but given my experience prior, I declined. Follow up: I've been charged full price for my UHAUL rental. I believe I at LEAST need to be compensated for the materials I never received and the hours I was unable to use the UHAUL as intended due to the mechanical breakdown. Yesterday the owner called me again asking me where the truck was (something I thought would be in his records). Again - this is extremely frustrating given that I called him to inform him of the mechanical failure when it happened and was confirmed by the consultant that it should be in his records. Please follow up with me on next steps to file a formal complaint and request some sort of compensation.

When I arrived a man outside said he was going to call the boss. He made a call then handed me the phone and the person on the other end ask me a couple of questions then said he would call back. Short story is that I received 6 emails, identical emails, for my contract. The man who was outside got me the keys to the truck and showed it to me outside. Never walked the truck for damage, nothing. Just said return it with the same amount of gas as was in it. There is a lot of room for improvement

I had to back up and hook up to the trailer myself. The gentleman only came out from behind the counter once i got it all hooked up and it was only to take a picture of the trailer before i left.

All they did was take the keys. DID NOT do a walk around or verify mileage of the truck. Charged card $99 saying I was over the allowed mileage when I was under the mileage allowed

The customer service agent was not very knowledgeable. It took forever because he was on the phone feeding someone all the information. It appeared that he didn't have a computer and the person he was talking to was processing everything. On top of that this was not the location I rented from online. But when I got to the online location I rented from he had no equipment. He looked it up for me and told me where U-Haul had moved my rental to. Which was extremely inconvenient as it was out of my way the opposite direction and added additional unnecessary miles to my rental. Overall it was NOT a pleasant experience

The front desk lady was very unaccepting. She kept questioning what we did. At a point was even asking if we were taking pictures of the store. The fee was extrememly high. When we made the reservation we did not sign up for coverage because we had our own coverage but when we got the bill, they deducted every single fee in the book from our card only because they had access to it. The reception was very bad. Very bad experience.

This location is a gas station in the middle of nowhere that seem to have a bunch of crack heads hanging out and playing arcade games there. The person in charge gave me keys to a truck but electronically signed me out for a different truck so all my online check in criteria was different and couldn't proceed. The guy he had helping get the truck and tow dolly, had me back up into an incorrect dolly and hitch up my car before the person in charge said I needed to update my reservation if I was going to take a different tow. I explained to him I was just following his coworkers instructions and we then had to unhitch my car, the dolly and load up all over again on another dolly. All this mess took about 45 to an hour to finally get the truck.

This was the worst customer experience that I've ever had. I had to drive 100 miles round trip to pick-up the trailer that I reserved 2,5 weeks earlier. (It was supposed to be available 12 miles from my home.) The pick up location was the nastiest c-store I've ever been in, with addicts coming in and out for the 1,5 hours that I was there trying to pick up the trailer. The employee on site had no idea how to process the U-Haul transaction, and I hooked everything up myself. I had to debate with the store owner over the course of multiple calls, before being allowed to take the trailer. What should have been a 10 minute process, took over an hour-and-a half. I called U-Haul several times, hoping to get some help; I was continually put on hold and transferred. I ultimately connected with the Area Mgr (Frank), and was told that he doesn't just sit by his phone all day, and that he wasn't responsible for the condition of the pick-up location. He offered to extend a $50 discount for the inconvenience, and to provide me with his Mgr's phone number. I never received the number or the $50. Frank was condescending and rude. Not once did anyone at U-Haul apologize for the inconvenience or horrible experience that they caused. I expected a safe, clean pick-up location, and I got a halfway house who's primary revenue appeared to be glass bongs, brass knuckles, knives and in-store gambling machines. This location should have it's service contract revoked. The Reservation, Customer Support and Area Mgmt team should be fired.

Easy drop off, but confusing. A convenient Store in the front and a building with a lot of doors, a few yards away with the same address, however we were able to drop the trailer. No one came out to help and it was just let pit in the open. No lock or secure!

This is not a plaza or wireless store. It is a coventent store and gambling center. The clerk was unorganized. There was a dog (german shepard) running the store so my wife had to leave the store as she is extremely scared of big dogs.. Right beside the regester was paraphernalia for drug use (pipes, cooper mess wiring, torches) and kits to clean your urine. The store was a mess and the restroom was dirty. They had no outside wifi so the outside check out and in process took longer than needed.

The owner was over an hour late getting to the store and told us there was a death in the family. But the homeless groundskeeper for the property living out of his broken down car at the front if the business told us the owner is always late. There was no way to contact them other than getting information from this homeless guy. It was a very concerning experience giving our license information to these people!!! Terrible and sketchy!!!!

The low rating is for uhaul services overall. I had initially scheduled for a different location early in the morning. Once I got there I called and was notified that it was no longer available and had to go to a different location which didn't open until 3 hours later. Once there it was back and forth conversation with the clerk and someone she was on the phone with. It took about 30 minutes to get the keys for the uhaul which I had already pre-registered for. Cut into my slotted time even though I did not receive it on time and was still expected to return at the 4 hour mark from when scheduled. It made our day way more stressful than it should have been.

The return process is simple but I am currently being charged for something I'm in aware of. I have not received and email or call from them telling my what I'm being charged for. I also would like to change my payment method to my company card but that is hard if the the place doesn't pick up their phone.

HORRIBLE service. Picked up uhaul truck on empty and when we got gas, all of it poured out of the bottom. Owner said someone cut the gas line. Eventually they switched out the trucks with no formal documentation. Very unprofessional

The truck was filthy & we were worried we would be charged so my husband had to clean it himself. Then when we returned the truck in New Braunfels they told us Delco location gave us the wrong size truck! We rented & paid for a 20' truck but was given a 15' truck. Also truck was on empty, we barely made it to a gas station & filled it to half full. Returned it with 1/4 tank full of gas. Not sure if we can get a reimbursement for all of this but we will definitely not be renting from Delco location ever again & maybe not even from the UHaul company. Worst experience EVER!

When i got there to pick up the truck i went inside the building and a man told me to talk to the guy in the blue car. I went over there and woke up the guy sleeping in the blue car and he gets out and tells me to hold on while he goes behind his car and takes a piss. He then goes and gets keys and hands them to me. No hand washing or even a squirt of antibacterial. I went to return truck and the same guy was there so I actually pulled back out and left. I guess the guy lives there because I drove by several times to return truck but he was there everytime. I kept truck an extra week just because I didnt want to deal with this disgusting guy.

Location provided on contract was in accurate. Delco Plaza and Wireless does not exist. Address leads to nowhere. Took 1,5 hours to do a turn in that should e taken 20 minutes tops due to poor information from U-Haul.com. No fault of the business at drop off location. At the drop off location personnel well very helpful.

Apon my reservation was at 2 pm I didn't receive my rental till 330 pm . When I arrived the associate took me to a car on the side of the building where a homeless man appeared to exit the Vehicle that he was sleeping in the pee smell was awful I stood outside for 1,5 hours with a 2 year old in prefer to get this rental he then used his phone to call his "supervisor " Which wasn't at the facility and then proceeded to go into my contract . Today upon arrival the man in the same car sleeping and smelling of lee with the same clothes on from Sunday exited the vehicle to help us with our order it took about 35-40 mins this was a awful process and wouldn't recommend to anyone

When a Loyal Customer such as myself who is a frequent renter I can not find any reasonable reason why I'm expected to travel to Round Rock Tx In mid day traffic on a Sunday afternoon after 3:30 pm. Pardon me for saying that I was waiting for a phone call from a knowledgeable sales person since I arrived at 2:30 pm I was not trying to be a jerk or seem like I was in a big hurry..the store that I cannot say a bad word about prior to my arrival SUNDAY honestly was gonna expect me to go to Round Rock Tx In afternoon traffic and load a vehicle and then travel to the mechanic who resides in Rockdale Texas and promptly returning back to the convenient store at 8pm. After I was denied the first time I'm still trying to get my mind around the fact that I pulled up in a 2019 Dodge Diesel Cummings and the last thing I was thinking about was being told I don't have a compatible truck I should have just called it quits for the unbelievable statement.. I just had to pay twice as much for a full size trailer versus the dolly that I was not trying to get in the first place. I say that to say this... I returned the trailer to the store today at 11:45 am to a closed building and a employee who is always in a security roll with the store for most of my visits was there to inform me that I was gonna get charged for another day.. I will pay the 20 dollars for the peace and I will pay Uhaul directly for all of my future transactions. I just wanted to be told that I was on a 5 hour "trip" prior to my credit card being placed in fraudulent activity status which I will never be grateful enough for that peace of mind and protection. I was able to get my co worker to place the order on his credit card and the card was accepted..All I had to do was just grab my cash and pay him for a wonderful gesture, just to come to my last straw...The ATM WAS OUT OF ORDER FOR THE DAY... I feel bad that I cannot stop them from charging my friends card if they choose to do so... I will never be in a third party situation again because I'm coming to you guys personally! Thanks for your time.

The lady didn't seem to know what to do. She got on the phone to someone else and they couldn't get my order complete and had to call John, a UHaul rep to come to the store to get my order done. This came after our original order at Bastrop Feed and Supply to pick up the truck was messed up because the previous renter hadn't brought the truck back. Our 8 a.m. pickup didn't occur until after 9:30. Then when I brought the truck back and went to put gas in it, the lady at Delco told me I had to put premium gas in it which I had never heard of before which I feel was just so her store would make more money as their gas prices are higher than other places. It would have been nice if someone had called the night before and tried to arrange another place for us to pick up the truck instead of waiting till we got there that morning.

I went online to reserve and make it easy to pick up. We got there and they had to call someone, we had to verify everything over the phone. It took about an hour or more for the entire process. I went during my lunch hour thinking i had done everything so it would be fast, i came back 30 min late from lunch. The truck was almost on empty, it barely made it to my house which is less than 8 miles away.
