The unit I rented was not available. I had to accept a smaller one, very hard to reach as it was above another unit and I expressly wanted a larger floor level unit as I was storing bicycles.

And also provide instructions for customers if the lot is full. Fix your attitude and make things more accessible for customers.

Margaret HConsistently having a really good experience in renting moving truck, trailers, storage from U-Haul! Equipment is sturdy, user friendly, reasonably priced and above all allows my independence in use and pace during the rental experience. Having multiple sites all over the US and helpful folks at U-Haul sites to return trucks and equipment is also a major plus!! I first got a trailer hitch installed on my SUV by U-Haul at Tom's garage in NY and this has helped me tremendously in my moving experience. Returning my equipment and Toms garage in Gloversville NY and also John's garage in little Falls NY has been a breeze. Kudos to these franchisee sites. I'm always amazed why I hadn't been using UHaul to move sooner! Can say enough about how much U-Haul has positively helped in my moving experience vs hiring movers. Definitely recommend the experience!!!

Mohamed AHi. I strongly disagree with the fuel charge applied on my receipt. As you can see on the pictures attached, the level of fuel that I returned the truck with is the same as I received it. I am quite disappointed with the service and would like to submit and official complaint about the following points: -First I booked weeks in advance a utility dolly, and when I arrived I was informed that there was any left, which completely disrupted my moving date. -Second, I was given a truck with less than a quarter fuel tank, which is completely unacceptable for a rental company. -Finally, I returned the car with the same level of gas, after running only 7miles (which should be less than a quarter gallon consumption), and I am charged more than 50$ in gas costs without any explanation... javier HMy u haul ended up getting stolen and it caused a huge inconvenience because my personal iteams where inside 4 days later I ended up finding the U-Haul empty . I'm not sure why someone would steal a U-Haul but I was happy to bed able to find the vehicle. The manager at the location was very understanding and sensitive about the situation and gave me direct information in next steps . I would like to use U-Haul in the future but I'm scared the fact that the vehicle was stolen . I'm grateful I was able to find the U-Haul . And side note the keys were not left inside the vehicle. I personally feel like it was somebody from the U-Haul company because the vehicle had not damaged such as wires being cut or ignition broken . So the whole thing seems a bit off to me . I will never really know the truth but I do know that I suffered a great loss because of what happened .

Lily MI am extremely dissatisfied with the charges we incurred. We did return the truck a short while after 6 pm so it was after hours. I understand being charged the extra $20. However, it's completely unreasonable to then charge us an extra day's rental fee on top of that. If we had known that we would've just kept the truck another day to continue moving more stuff. It was a total waste of money. We will not be using UHaul again. Home Depot and Lowes have much cheaper prices with unlimited miles. I've already booked a van with Home Depot for more moving.
Kathleen MDon't fucking scam me with the gas bullshit. Fucking charged me like 90$ for gas you fucking weasels. Also the goddamn location wasn't open when I got back but the sign for returns was still set up so I tried to pull in to the door label returns but the door wouldn't open. Fucking had to apparently download an app or something to know what to do to return the truck, didn't do that and got charged absolutely out the ass for a not filling the truck up. I only drove the fucking thing like 20 miles, there is no way I burned 90$ fucking dollars worth of gas you bastards!

Cecilia RThe storage facility is only open when the store is open, which means 7am-7pm most days. That's different than the listed hours (5am-10pm) for storage access, and especially different on Sundays when the unit is only accessible until 5pm. At no point was this communicated to me and I found myself unable to access things with a fully packed car. The early hours suck as is, but it's especially bad that they're not communicated to you in any way.

On Jan 31st at approximately 4:15 pm, I visited the location to rent a truck and was met with unacceptable behavior from the two employees present. One employee, who was supposed to assist me, demonstrated unethical conduct and a clear lack of willingness to perform their job duties. Meanwhile, the other employee, who appeared to be in charge of the office, was arguing with the first employee in front of me. I felt incredibly awkward and uncomfortable witnessing this unprofessional behavior. I simply wanted to complete my rental transaction and leave the premises, but the situation made me feel uneasy and anxious. I was appalled by the conduct of the employees and the lack of customer service. I request prompt action to address this issue, as I will not be renting from this location again. I hope U-Haul takes necessary steps to ensure customers receive respectful and efficient service.

TONEY CThe storage space I got doesn't correspond to the one I rented... I rented a 4'x8'x4', but when I arrive I find that half of it is obstructed by a huge pipe. When I go ask the front desk about it, they tell me that I got a 'bonus' unit (hence the reduced price), but I was never told it was smaller when reserving it online nor when getting the receipt through email.

I had to do the whole thing on my phone with one issue after another. The assistant helping me was coaching me- -and I'm pretty internet and phone savvy but things kept going wrong. I've rented from this place many times. I'm in the system. But I have a NH license. You required two in person verifications - people had to answer the phone and say I was real- before letting me rent. It required talking to my son and sister, each in another state and other people they tried weren't home or refused to pick up a call from an unknown number. I mean c'mon. Meanwhile, the attendant could have done this in three minutes. It was complicated, awkward and slow. Then when I finally got cleared, I walked to the truck and the attendant had forgot that he had the keys. When he wasn't helping me, by the way, he was completely preoccupied with his phone. Nice enough guy but your self help approach when I'm in the store and two attendants are sitting around isn't good customer service. It's really enough to make me want to go to Ryder or Home Depot.

donald sI came to pick up my pre-booked rental van and I was told I needed to go through a registration (even though I already had an account) and check-in process on my phone while the clerk sat and waited. I prefer the old way, where the clerk checks you in. That's why some people prefer to do things in-person. I always will show preference for businesses that provide personal service rather than maximizing online processes so they can cut costs by firing workers. Moreover, the online/phone procedure required providing the phone number of someone who could vouch for me, with absolutely no notice. I could not receive the keys until the step was completed. In general, this is a ridiculous requirement. Moreover, it wasn't even working properly, I had to restart it three times. The whole thing took around 35 minutes. I arrived at 2:15pm, and although there was no line I didn't leave the lot in the van until 3:00pm. Next time, I'll get a ZipCar, even though it costs a bit more.

Rachid KNone of the sales representatives know how to apply 'Uhaul Gift Credits'. I had to call U-Haul corporate, spoke to 4 different departments, nobody could do it or explain how to do it to the employee that was helping me. After an hour or more, finally they figured out only the Store Manager could do it. CRAZY !
R DI rented a storage unit and was shocked to find a 2,5ft wide support beam running straight through the middle of it. There was almost no space left in the unit as it was only 4ft wide. I was never informed that the unit was defective and was then told that I got a discounted rate because of that support beam. Nobody told me I was getting a discount or that there was a huge pillar running through the middle of the unit. When I complained, I was told it would cost more to rent a usable storage unit. This is pure bait and switch. I agreed to a price and wasn't informed that it was defective. When I got there and discovered that I had been duped, they upsold me on a unit that actually met the description for the unit I already purchased. Scam tactics.
Gregory LMr.Cruz and Mr. Ezekiel were so helpful. Answering all my questions and advising me on unit sizes, vehicle return and accessories to assist my move. Having relocated half way across the country, coming home, these gentlemen exemplified exactly what is great about Cambridge and its people. I will recommend this facility and its fabulous staff every opportunity i can. Bless you both and thank you.

Check in and out process and convoluted and needlessly complicated. Why is the app necessary if there are multiple employees around that are not doing anything but could in theory help?

MAGOMED DOn Sunday December 10, 2023, I returned the vehicle to your retail store; however, to my disappointment, the store was closed. Subsequently, I was charged a $20 fee for returning the vehicle during a time when the store was not accessible. I understand that policies are in place to manage returns efficiently, but I believe this situation warrants an exception. As a senior citizen, I encountered difficulty navigating the advanced technology associated with the return process during the store's closure, and I strongly feel that seniors should not be subjected to such challenges. I kindly request that you reconsider and waive the $20 return fee in this instance. I believe this adjustment would not only be fair but also demonstrate a commitment to customer satisfaction, especially for those who may face technological challenges. EDMILSON TThe cab was clean but exterior no. I transport items that must be delivered clean. The cargo van was newer but seemed to have some electrical problems. The wipers would turn on randomly and I kept getting a message that the right rear door was ajar, the dinging and interior lights would not turn off. I would pull over and close the door again and the notification would not go away. Sometimes the notice would go away. I don't know what causes this? The staff was very helpful, I prefer this location over the many others nearby.
Christine MPersonally the person I was help by was extremely rude and inattentive helping other before completely help me and was not accompanied. When he did provide the U-Haul, he aggressively drove it to the gate and was mad that I had additional questions. It was my first time renting a U-Haul, but I will definitely make sure to use another company next time his name is Enrique horrible attitude

Angel MI haven't really had to rent moving equipment before, and this experience was so positive I will definitely keep uhaul in mind. The central location is perfect for me having only one car in Cambridge. The staff were extremely helpful and got me set up in no time.

He didn't show my daughter the second unit of #346 so she only used one. I was charged a fee of $130,9 from March 7th to June 2022. My account was closed on June 10th because my daughter wasn't using the other unit that she was not aware of. I never received a phone call from U-Haul stating they were closing my account. I was promised a free month of storage I never received. Wendy an agent at U-Haul didn't fulfill this promise and instead just charged me the fee of $110,9 for the 4x4x6 on June 10, 2022.

My only complaint would be the entrance swipe did not work upon our return this summer, so we had to wait to enter the facilities to begin unloading our unit. Otherwise, customer service has always been fantastic, and everything is clean and well lit. (An extra shout out to Ezequiel who was extra helpful back in May when we opened a unit for this summer.)

The customer experience overall is just awful. I chose a location with equipment available, skipping over those where there was no guarantee. Then you wait until the last minute and switch to a location 60 miles away - a bait and switch tactic that customers HATE and is borderline illegal. So I give the facility 4 stars and the executive team at Uhaul 0 stars. You create nightmares for customers in the name of lower customer acquisition cost and asset utilization. Morgan P | Online Move InI arrived at the facility a day before my move-in storage date to ask questions about the process. The employee behind the desk was not very helpful when I asked where to pick up the truck and where the storage units were located. All he could tell me was that my reservation existed for the following day, and he told me that tomorrow I would, "pick up the truck and then store [my] stuff", which I clearly was already aware of. I booked this months in advance and double checked with a Uhaul employee over the phone that the size of the truck and storage units would be large enough for a full size bed, a sofa, and multiple suitcases. Additionally, I was clearly told that monthly storage was pro-rated. Upon arriving, I could not fit my bed in the storage unit and had to rent a second unit last minute. On top of that, all lower level units were full. The only upside was that there was one other storage unit available for me to use on that day, which I was grateful for. The storage unit was clean enough, though I had very strong allergies as soon as I walked into the storage space, and my skin started breaking out into rashes within minutes, which rarely, if ever, happens. Overall I would not recommend this storage space and the service I received was misleading and subpar.

(A first-rate manager and a responsive problem-solver, Mr. Francisco's terrific customer-service skills make him an excellent representative of the U-Haul brand.) I did have concerns about the presence of many small moths-a problem that persisted in my unit despite Mr. Francisco's prompt retention of an exterminator. Also, I was disappointed to find that my vintage leather suitcase (which had been sitting directly on the concrete floor) showed damage from an unidentified liquid seeping up for several inches. (The affected area was covered with mold, as well.) Mr. Francisco listened attentively, personally inspected the damage, and encouraged me to speak with him again after I had an opportunity to review the case and its contents. I intend to do so at my earliest convenience…

paul d | Expérience généraleIt was so stressful and difficult to move our stuff into the uhaul, for various different reasons. 1. The staff were not super friendly or helpful. We had been traveling all day and were exhausted when we arrived, and weren't 100 % sure how it all worked. The staff didn't help us understand, but just sort of told us we were in the wrong place and had been told bad information. They were more interested in checking out at 8 pm than helping us. 2. We did finally manage to sort out returning the van and renting a room to put the boxes in. But we were told the garage was broken, so we had to lug all our items nearly a quarter-mile between where we were allowed to park, all the way across very poorly maintained sidewalks, over the raised doorstep, up the steep slope, and through the twisty hallways. It took a very long time. We were expecting to work hard - moving is never easy - but the fact that the garage was broken AND we had to park quite far away AND the only door that worked was raised meant that it was way more difficult than it should have been. 3. The carts! They were so bad! You expect moving carts to be fairly easy to maneuver, but these were extremely hard to steer and push. It was almost easier to carry everything ourselves. We did have to carry things in ourselves at points because the doorways were too narrow, or the carts too hard to steer around corners or over door thresholds. All in all, this was an awful uhaul facility. I'd tell friends and family to go literally anywhere else before coming here.

First, the garage door was broken the entire month I was there and I had to drag my stuff in through the small, person entry door and drag it on the carts up the giant ramp to get to my box. Second, I wasn't told the box was going to be stacked on top of another and I'd have to climb a ladder. That wasn't indicated when I was given the unit. Third, I did not know I needed my own lock until I was at the cashier and I had to buy one from y'all instead of something else. Lastly, there was confusion for someone on y'alls end when I moved out. Someone didn't update the records and I was sent another bill which got figured out but it was very annoying. It just wasn't a good experience. The worst part of it for me was the garage door issue, it was broken for a month and no one was there to assist with items I had to literally take apart my furniture piece by piece and shove it through a standard doorway and drag it up the ramp and then climb a ladder and put it away. It was just so frustrating the entire time.

However, I called to make a reservation 2 months in advance, got a reservation number, but when I called to confirm a week before my start date U-haul told me my reservation didn't exist. I made a new reservation, but when I got there on the day I had to move in the desk worker told me the unit size I wanted was no longer available despite the fact I reserved it, so I was forced into an unnecessarily large unit and on the top floor so that I had to figure out how to carry a mini-fridge up a ladder. This all seemed very disorganized and I was not too happy with this. However, to compensate U-haul did give me the first month free, so they were considerate which I appreciate

Trash left all over the place, homeless people leaving out of the lockers, and the employees have became ruder and less likely to help. I really hope the place turns it around.

I had to pay extra because I need to get into my storage at my convenience but never did so I rent a lower storage that cost extra. The bathroom is very dirty all the time and never no toilet paper. And most employees have attitudes. And some one stole from me in this facility.

Several additional conveniences include that the facility is climate controlled, has a nice restroom (always super clean?!) , has spacious hallways, and they provide several carts for moving your stuff around. Access was easy with the uhaul card, swipe in the right box to check in, swipe in the left box to unlock the door, open the garage door and drive right in. Even though there's really only room for 1-2 cars at the top of the ramp, I never was unable to pull up and do my thing in 6 months of regular use. I paid <$150/month for quite a big space. It's a really good deal considering the price/sq ft in Cambridge. The facility is frequented by homeless people, who probably appreciate the affordable and safe storage. I never felt uncomfortable, and was never solicited for money - they were either chill and friendly or privately going about their business. First month free, and checkout was easy. Just show them a pic of the empty unit. A bit of feedback for improvement: The screws used in the construction of the units were much too long, so there are several exposed screw tips (1-1,5") coming through the walls of the unit, giving a decent probability you could puncture yourself if you were moving stuff around in there and not being careful. These could be shielded with plastic drywall anchors or cut off?
