My 17 foot rental truck "died" multiple times during the one day rental. I lost brakes, steering AND power all at the same time. I was able to restart the truck each time, and with almost no steering or brakes, eventually get it back to the rental location where they told me "a belt had broken." which was out of their control Seems odd when I lost 3 functions at once, multiple times, and the battery light came on at the same time. The reasons I would recommend them are: equipment was ready for pickup on time. They credited me for truck rental after the issues and j\just charged me for mileage, approx $21 plus the $8 of gas I put in it between truck failures. The owner was polite and helpful.

there were chicken bones, cigarette butts and other food related garbage inside the truck box. my guess is homeless folks were using it for shelter. the rear view mirror on the passenger side would not stay up. It kept falling down at the first bump in the road that you hit making it impossible to see what's beside you. I had to use tape and cut pieces of card board to shim it up so I could safely see to drive. the worst part is the I don't give a rip attitude of the staff when we returned the vehicle.

Have furniture pads available for a reservation. Make sure the drivers side view mirror isn't flimsy and moves during driving, it was very unsafe. Have customer parking clearly labeled instead of yelling at the customer from across the lot like a maniac.

Customer service was not great. Instead of trying to offer help for a reservation that somehow ended up canceled even tho we had confirmation .. they sent us down the rabbit hole of calling this number and that number. It was just a very rude and unpleasant experience. I would be considering another option next move as a result of this location.

Truck was in poor condition, and was left for me to pickup with no gas in it. I needed to immediately drive to a gas station in order to not run out. Give was showing less than 30 miles, which you can't trust. Paperwork said 1/8 of tank, but that was not accurate (I took pictures). Transmission was weak, truck had 150k miles on it.

Self-check out process is TERRIBLE!!! I should NOT have to download an app to my phone that I don't want just to be able to return equipment after hours. Several people there having same issues with the process. If you are turning in moving equipment, you have probably just participated in a move and you are very tired. The LAST thing you need is an invasive, cumbersome process to just return equipment. Please fix!!

I do not know who was on duty the day we were there, but she was so kind, friendly, nice and most of all - helpful. It was a pleasure to work with her. We will definitely recommend U-haul to our friends as we had the same experience in Elmhurst IL last. year. Kudos to you U-Haul.

It would be nice if equipment reserved was available. I understand trucks go out and not always back on time but blankets, dolleys, etc should be prepared and set aside for those with reservations. Customer service from those at the location was phenomenal though! It was hard to be upset when they were so kind!

The lady at the front desk was extremely rude, as soon as I left the parking lot I noticed the fuel level on the rental agreement said the tank was at a higher amount than it actually was. I called her immediately and told her it was actually at only a quarter tank, to which she said she would mark it in the system that the initial fuel level was at 1/4 tank. I asked if she could send me a new contract and she said "No, it's updated in the system, it's fine." I asked again and she hung up on me. I called back and it just kept ringing. Looking at my invoice, I was charged $30 for fuel! A refund for the fuel is the least you could do, I would NEVER recommend U-Haul to anyone, especially at this location. There are so many other options available and I wish I chose a different company. I will never use U-Haul again after this terrible experience; it's overpriced and terrible service. Please make this right.

I completed my discharge process online. I completed the process well before my next payment date. I will still send a bill in the mail. I have a discharge email stating that my discharge was complete. I follow all the steps and I took all the pictures and I sent the pictures in and I kept the email that I was sent for proof of my discharge.

For question number five, I stalled because there are some maintenance issues. The ceiling area in the storage facility needs some work as it appears to have had a lot of leaking issues for a long time. They do their best to clean it and deal with the leaks. One of the men that works with the trucks, coming and going , always made himself available to help me carry, lift, and place items in my vehicle. I never had to ask and he always made himself available. He was particularly polite, professional, helpful and kind.

I had a hard time leaving Augusta Georgia. The U-Haul facility in Augusta didn't have the truck that I reserved. I had to go to two different U-Haul facilities just to get a truck and a hitch for my car. But when I got to Charleston I met Mike. He works at the King Street U-Haul facility. He was very instrumental in making the rest of my move smooth. My daughter nickname him Magic Mike. People like Magic Mike Elijah and TJ are hard to come by.

A couple of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Several others have no concept of the importance of the customer experience (they are "Debbie Downers") and the customer leaves feeling that they are not important to the company. These employees fail to understand that the money they are paid comes ONLY from the customer and that they work for the customer. They undermine the business and prevent it from standing out as a great place to do business with.

While the unit was not found to be as I reserved online this was not the issue of the King St staff but the online reservation system. This is a busy office but I received excellent service as if I was the only customer present. I have been waiting for the opportunity to note the amazing service delivered by Latosha (excuse misspelling). After a 13 hour drive to King st and a 13 hour return home planned the next day, I hoped for anything to make unpacking the unit and packing the trailer easier. Latosha did everything to make it easier! I pulled out of the parking lot thrilled because we were in and out so much quicker (and easier )than anticipated. Merci.

This team is exceptional. I got a U-Haul from another dealer and when I pulled up at King street with my first load to store, one of the young men noticed the trailer wasn't hitched properly. He corrected the issue. I was checking out and running a little late and the staff stayed around an extra 30 minutes for me to finish. This team has excellent customer service.

This is the only place that I know of that charges twice as much than anyone else to store items in a flood plain, Of course there is no grace period for paying the rent, even if you can't get to the storage area due to a flood. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? I will not be back and neither will anyone that I speak with.

There need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.
