Efficient and fast customer service would be a game changer. Also, the drop off location does not have much space to park.
Employees were friendly and helpful for my reservation. Anthony Tilly was looking out for my best interest when he discovered that they did not have a 17' truck, as I had reserved and was expecting to pick up. The other guy was less apologetic and more stern in his approach for handling the situation, sugggesting that they give me a 15' truck and charge me less on the mileage. As I was not going to put more than 10 mi on the truck, however, the issue was not with the mileage and more with the size of the truck.
Everything was fine, but traffic / drop-off area made for logistical issues.
Great service and very helpful. It was the easiest part of my move.
Make sure to include everything that the customer has paid for! I had paid to rent moving pads but the attendant I was working with forgot to put them in the truck (which I had assumed had already been completed) so I had to take time out of my move (where I was paying for movers by the hour) to come back and get them (not to mention the cost of travel out there). That being said, the crew did a great job hooking up the trailer to tow my car behind the UHaul.
When dropping off the truck instructions were to lock the van, however I did not have a lock with me, nor did I know I needed to have one. The U-haul site 24 hour droppoff instructions here https://www.uhaul.com/videos/Play.aspx?id=1035 say: "secure the additional rental equipment in the cab of the truck or vanbody of a trailer when a padlock is provided" but no lock was provided. I was uncomfortable leaving it unlocked as the location did not seem very secure.
Service was excellent. I need to extend my rental and they quickly provided an approval response.
The uhaul service on Rhode Island Avenue NE DChris did an excellent job working with me for my move. I highly recommend them. The customer service was great as well

Bad customer service, didn't want to be considerate of the fact that I was denied my preferred location, and had an attitude on the phone.

It was a wonderful experience. The volume of customers was overwhelming when I first walked in on a Sunday morning. The staff was excellent!!!! They were quick and courteous! The entire team worked well together and there was definite TEAM WORK present.
The parking brake release was broken, which led me to be unable to utilize the truck for its intended purpose. Called for roadside assistance, but they wouldn't arrive in time for what I needed the truck for. Received 0 refund for faulty equipment.
We made last minute rentals/reservations twice in two days, both online and over the phone. The staff was incredibly efficient and helpful. Tiffany was excellent.

Everything they did was spot on. Tiffany was amazing as well as Tyser and the main manager of the facility (I can't remember his name but it was a T as well). They worked efficiently and were so funny. Keep them all well compensated for the great work they do.
The gentleman that assisted me seemed a bit overextended; perhaps he needs more staff. Overall, I had a great experience.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. Really like that it was a Uhaul location.
I asked to rent a dolly and furniture pads for an extra $10, and was told they would be in the van. When I arrived at my destination with the van and opened it up, there was no equipment in it. I called to have the amount removed from my bill, but was still charged the $10 extra.
Staff was overwhelmed at the end of the month but they did their best to service the customers streaming in.
acknowledge customers when they are returning their uhaul, even if you may be busy it only takes two seconds to greet a customer and let them know that you will be right with you. and then turn around and charge me 25 for a cleaning fee when the guy saw me cleaning the truck for 15 mins and couldn't say anything to me but goes and charges me a fee.
Truck was a gas hog other then that everything was awesome
Staff was ready and waiting outside to assist me in the drop off process- staff members quickly began cleaning the truck and getting odometer readings right when I pulled in which made it a very quick and efficient drop off process. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Tiffany the Storage Manager dealt with me and she was very friendly and professional. She explained the process clearly and answered all of my questions and was extremely attentive.
Signage at the front was a bit confusing. I was returning a van and it wasn't clear where to go.

No place to conveniently park. Too many fees charged before 30 days of being late. Loading dock is not open enough nor convenient for easy access

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was my first time driving a moving truck and they made me feel very at ease. The only downside is that the physical location of the pick-up felt a little rough/unsafe around the edges.
Although an investment on Uhaul part, need lighting for inside storage room and flooring cement is durable but not best clean presentation. I put tarp or plastic down fir flooring. Storage is different than years ago to temporarily stuff extra seasonsl or several month items while waiting to move. Customers need frequent access and thus visibility due to smaller living spaces attributed to high housing rental/mortgage and one income families.
Lighting is needed for storage rooms, dark. Or supply stationary flashlight so wont have pull things in hall to block others to find certain items when periodically need to retrieve an items.
very friendly staff, took their time to aclimate me to the truck, walked around to see any previous damages. Engaged with me on why I was renting a truck very nice folks and the truck was in top condition.
All U-Haul staff at the 5th Street location were incredibly nice and efficient. I appreciated all of their assistance.

Timon and his staff are extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. I own a rental company and am a frequent u-haul customer. I always choose the 5th street location because of such great service. You can tell the staff actually like each other and they aren't absolutely miserable, thanks to their great leader Timon.

Truck was clean and ready to go. All the employees were very nice to me and explained procedures clearly. Overall, a grest experience. Nothing needs to be done.
I had called this location three times the week before I needed to pick up the truck to confirm details and each communication was very positive. However, I had asked to pick up the truck around 11/12 PM and was told over the phone that would be no problem, but apparently the reservation was still made for 9 AM. I arrived at the UHaul location around 9:30/10 AM and they reported that they had just given away the truck and were overbooked. The first man that I worked with was not helpful at all-- he did not take our concerns seriously (that I had to move out of my building that day and drive to Chicago the next day) and overall had an unpleasant manner. However, we then worked with the manager who was excellent- I really appreciated his help and he took it much more seriously/ was very nice to work with. We got lucky that a woman pulled up with the same truck that we needed within that hour, however, otherwise we would have had a big problem.
Rent here a lot. Always a good experience.
Conveinently located with good access hours. Clean and well-lit secure facility.
The manager was friendly kind and considerate. The only problem was that the car-dolly was very defective and put me in grave harm along my journey.

This was my first time renting. Everything was alright...Anthony was very polite, helpful, and quick. It was also a young lady who checked me out when I returned the truck.. She was also pleasant and quick. I would indeed rent from this place again and refer people as well. All I can say is keep up the good work!!! Thanks
The pick-up location was fine. However, my reservation of a ten-foot truck was not honored, and I had to take a fifteen-foot truck with little or no time to look for an alternative. The person who called me about the change referred to it as an "upgrade." As far as I am concerned it was not an upgrade. The fifteen-foot truck was a lot more than I needed, more difficult to drive than a ten-foot truck, and more expensive to drive.
There was dead rats found in a box of china. There were dead rats on the floor of the unit. Boxes had rat holes where rats had eaten through. Not good
This location was a bit out of the way, but I have no reason not to recommend. It would have been nice not to have drive across the city from the Georgetown area to drop off the truck. But, it was the closest one I could find when scheduling. The staff were very helpful and pleasant at this location.

Stop trying to charge for fuel that wasn't used
Make sure ALL the LIGHTS work on the trucks, vans, pickup trucks, etc, and make sure the mirrors can be adjusted to suit the customers.
Pro: Excellent customer service. Staff was extremely helpful and polite. They still let me pick up my reserved trailer even though I showed up less than ten minutes before they were due to close up for the night.
Cons: Not much space for customers to park or maneuver their cars. I had to double park with my hazards on in the middle of the street.
The very young customer service rep was quick, efficient and excellent.We were on a time crunch in picking up the truck and also in checking out and our checkin and checkout time was minimal with her assistance. She seemed to be aware of the various tasks in the office that was needed and was responsive. She should be well commended.

I wish your survey asked about the service, because the service was terrific, on all fronts. However, the location is very congested and difficult to navigate. But the staff is about the best i've encountered.

Check tire pressures (right front was low on my van), clean inside of windshield (mine was heavily streaked, and agent didn't have paper towels or rags to clean), perhaps replace wiper blades more frequently (quite streaky in heavy rain).
Unprofessional staff - not friendly or helpful. Staff`s personal vehicles and UHual truck usually take up space in loading dock.
Nassar was so helpful and polite. He did above and beyond what he was suppose to do.
Service was quick and quality. While I signed paperwork they were warming up the truck for me.
There was a padlock left on the truck. I didn't discover it until I tried to start loading. I called and the woman who answered had an attitude and said I should have checked before I left. She said I'd have to drive back and get it removed. They were derelict and tried to blame me for their mistake.

Nothing necessary. Everything went smoothly, was ready to go, and return was simple. It was all just fine, and I'd do it again, if needed.
Very helpful staff on both pickup and return -- and both times I was in and out in no more than a minute or two. I had only one very minor issue:
1) If there could be more prominent advice on where to park your car while out in the U-Haul truck, that'd be great. I found a space, so it was no problem, but I can imagine people who don't know DC well possibly being ticketed if they don't know how parking zones work.
Parking was a bit tight. I would have liked to be able to pro-rate the last days before we checked out, rather than pay for a whole month.

The only change I would make is to make sure that all of a reservation is transferred when you all have to do that. I originally reserved a van and dolly at a different location, and you all called the day before to let me know that you needed to change locations, which is fine.
However, the information the new location received was a truck. I called and they were able to accommodate my request for a van, since a truck would have been too large for where I needed to drive, but I didn't realize that my request for the dolly didn't go through until I'd left the location.
Everyone was super nice and the equipment was great, just please make sure that your records are straight!
Once again this location did a great job.
Only glitch was they didn't tell me I was supposed to return the furniture blankets - assumed that when I paid for them upfront I was purchasing them, not renting them.

The locker storage units are incredibly difficult to get to. I wasn`t impressed with the security, either.

My rates went up two or three times since getting the storage unit. Because I had no protection against frequent rate increases, it made me less comfortable doing business with U-haul.
My belongings were eaten and infested with RAT not Mice RAT doo doo droppings!
I had a great experience here. Everyone was very helpful and prompt and gave accurate information. Space was clean and I felt my possessions were secure with their swipe in system.

There was a problem with the facility not being informed about the mattress cover I ordered on line. But I have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. They are an A+ group.

Lost the key to the lock on the storage, was told if we cut it off they would call the police and the charge is breaking and entering .. my own property. Ridiculous.

Usually public restrooms are just plain disgusting. The staff at this location always seemed to keep the restroom in pristine order. And I always saw a staff member sweeping or cleaning the floors.
The employee working was completely disinterested in helping us with our reservation and appear annoyed and bothered. She did not make eye contact, mumbled and was curt in her communication.
This is the worst uhaul ever. The staff is consistently rude,, unhelpful and incompetent. I had to call corporate to get anything done.

My belongings have been in the storage 4 2yrs I only checked on it twice and everything was still the same I would recommend... The only problem I hadd was that my bill kept goin up!!!
The staff and unit was excellent. I went online to find the unit and I should have checked out the location before hand. The street was tight and it was not easy to get in or out.
They were very nice and helpful we were able to rent a storage and drop off our uhaul at the same time. I would recommend them to others.
Note: The late fees high, and unnecessary. Otherwise, probably would have kept storage longer.

The staff for the truck rental and storage set up were exceptionally helpful and we will always consider this particular U-Haul store our 1 choice for rental and storage
The main problem is the location and lack of parking in loading dock. The rental trucks are often cleaned and returned in dock. The staff is nice, but they could do more to clear access.
24 hours access would have been ideal. Disappointed at not being reimbursed for 1/2 of my monthly rental when I cleared out of storage on the 15th of the month.

Unorganized, poorly managed
The corridors are a bit dark, but do have lights. The card access isn`t working now, otherwise I would give it a very good rating.
I was told to email the GM for a discount b/c there was a pole in my unit. After my 3rd email he replied he was waiting for UHI to reply, then I never heard from him again. I never got my discount.
Only issue I have is that I prepaid for the entire month of August. I did not use the unit for the entire month, but was not given a portion of the prepaid month back.
When I moved and retrieve my belongings from u haul storage some of my belongings had mice/rat dropping, they had gnawed on some items and moldy smell.
There is limited parking in the area, but staff was very helpful about directing where was okay to park while dropping off and loading.

The weekday hours makes it difficult to access for someone who works until 6 or 7 like many DC residents. The staff was fairly slow and one was quite rude on the phone.

Very impressed by the friendly and helpful staff!
The place was unsecured for months. Rats entered the facility a horrible smell developed. My unit acquired the smell rats destroyed my items. I`m furious disgusted.

Water leak into unit and damaged several items. Facility smelled like cat litter. On 3 occasions staff parked vans in front of the loading dock which prevented access

The facility provided a good storage for me. The employees could work on communication skills but for the most part - this place provided a nice storage unit at a low cost.

Most of my clothes, sofa, mattress need to be thrown away because of RATS!!!
Some days a week, it would be nice if the storage opened later say 8pm.
Also, the storage had no light inside 220$ a month

My storage unit was damp, poorly lit and had spiders and roaches.

Excellent this is my third year renting.
Sometimes the lines at the front desk were excessively long or took a very long time. For the most part, my experience was very positive.
My unit had a concrete pole going through it. So it was smaller and harder to maneuver but the staff was nice, it was easy, and affordable after a free month with the rental of a truck.
Put more trust in the customer Your lockes on the units if payment is a minutes late.
I don`t like the fact that U haul doesn`t prorate the monthly bill. I had to pay for a full month and only went 4 days into billing cycle.
Customer service experience at this location was horrible. Uhaul needs to send manager and customer service reps to have training in customer service.
It was a good year for me here and i did recommend it to several people i now and they still have storeage units there!!!

It was poor timing but the computers went down the morning I went to reserve my unit. It took over an hour to pay for the unit- but hopefully I just came on a bad day and this experience is unique.
The lighting is rather poor and if you have an upper storage unit, it can be a hassle to get access to a ladder.
The sales reps were not helpful and they worry about making more money off me then helping me.

I have been using this facility for four years. The best thing about this facility is the manager Osman. Osman is a wonderful manager. He is always helpful, polite and a real gentleman.

I certainly will not recommend this U haul location at 2215 5th Street, NE Washington, DC to anyone. I experienced property damaged while in storage with rat droppings and eggs all over my property.
The facility is good but one doesn`t necessarily feel safe in the place or in the area....staff was helpful and my stuff was safe, but did feel unsafe given the clientele and location.

I have used this particular U-haul location for multiple moves, both in-town and one-way, and now for storage, as well. The staff are always great!!
Ladders were always left in the way upstairs. I`ve had my pad locked by uhaul even when my bill was paid. I would recommend uhaul, just not that location. Trying to pay my bill wasn`t always easy.

The Attendant was very professional and informative about the operation of the facility and how to access entrance and exiting the facility.
I was assisted promptly by a friendly woman who showed me to my unit and helped me get settled. I was very happy with the service and would store here again.

There was a small language barrier between ma and the staff rep. Originally he gave ne the wrong address combined with the fact that the online address of the facility are both wrong
The staff wasn`t very efficient and it took more than 20 minutes to get service.
The staff here are good, and the price is right, but the facility does not feel clean or up-to-date. The slow elevator and limited number of carts make accessing difficult sometimes.

My things were damaged by animal feces and urine and I received the worst treatment and customer service. I wasted my time, energy, money, ruined my things and was treated poorly! the absolute worse!

The manager has done a great job. But the reason I moved out. I have big rats almost the size of cats in my unit and it destroyed and used the bathroom on everything in. It chewed all my clothes up.

The place is a little scary looking and they`ve done a good job of ensuring that people aren`t living out of their units anymore. Much improved.

Didn`t have room for my mattress so I had to drive back across DC! Spent a whole day between 5 different uhauls to simply find a place that fit my mattress and could unhitch my car.

guy @ counter was nice but the unit wasn`t right. had to wait nn hour to unload. got harrassed because I was in a larger unit due to the elevator being down. access card works about 20% of the time.
There were small storage spaces outrageously overpriced. There`s only one entrance that`s normally blocked by other customers. They are notorious for having long lines and unfriendly attitudes.

The units had no lighting. A rodent entered chewed up some clothing and ruined a couch. There often was only one employee at the counter, so you`d end up waiting in line 15 minutes.

I stored things here for a year and a half when I discovered a disgusting carpet beetle infestation. I had to throw out almost everything I`d been paying to store. Osman = great manager though.

My access card to the storage facility never worked. The staff tried to fix it twice. Didn`t work. That was annoying.
Would like longer hours in the day to access the storage unit. Mainly Sunday was closed earlier then the other days. Would not been nice if it was open until 8.
The personnel is great, but was not too impressed with the fact that my unit was not lit at all. It is not an advantage to come to a personal storage and look for your stuff in the dark.

There is almost no accessibilty to the loading spaces as management has decided to keep one of the two access garage doors closed AND to keep their own vehicles parked in our loading spaces.

Poor communication among staff. It took over 30 minutes to get our truck that we had reserved in advance online. We were also under the impression that the truck included a ramp, and it did not.
My five experience with Intown was good. The facility was always well maintained, and the storage fees were priced fairly.
It would have help if the owner could invest in air conditioning/heating on the 2nd and 3rd floors. It was very unconfortable moving out of my storage units.
