Before we leased a U-Haul unit, we had a unit at a different spot, that had a 10-page contract, where staff was hard to find and work with. U-Haul was so much better and convenient. On one of the driveways inside the compound there is a deep water puddle that needs to be attended to.

I couldn't get access to my unit, and for that I received a fine because I couldn't put my items in storage. Because I was late getting out of the apt. I informed uhaul and was supposed to get a credit for the charge and instead I got overcharged. Was given a free month of storage I told them I did not need. And had no use for, but was told that's all they could do.

I had to leave the state una hurry and emptied the storage unit but forgot to take the lock and open it up. I would think you had staff in hand with an axel grinder on hand since, in the past, all the storage facilities I've rented from have staff with those tools on hand and charge a very nominal fee for a simple 5 minute service of cutting a lock. I had to pay for an extra month while I found a work around and I think this is very unfair. I would never recommend your facility to anyone

Need lighting inside units for evening use. And why ask if it was clean when we're responsible for cleaning it? One idea/suggestion would be to ramp the entrance to the unit so heavy items don't have to be picked up over the lip.

I had one problem. I went to Elmira Road office to check out and was told that my unit was canceled and that I was checked out. I questioned this as I had not checked out but the rep insisted the system showed I was checked out. However, when I checked the uhaul app the day after my rental ended, it showed my rental auto-renewed! I have called to have the charge reversed but obviously there is a problem with the system or the local office and I should not have to go through these steps. Fortunately I caught the improper charge.

I couldn't move in because the facilities were so heavily fragrant from either air fresheners or cleaners. I got a migraine within minutes of walking in. There was no way I was storing my stuff in there. Also, I got ripped off on the 10x15 rental. It's a 9x15 with ductwork obliterating the use of one wall. Deceptive. The sales associates were friendly and helpful but the computer system is a disaster and many people were walking in having reservation issues. I hoped UHaul would be better in Ithaca than Austin, but it's not.

The staff was very unclear what I needed to do/where I needed to go. They also never told me I needed a lock for the ubox until I called to tell them I dropped it off at the closed location.

Our box arrived at the destination three days late. While it didn't have a huge impact on us, it could be awful for someone who is waiting for all there stuff to arrive and can't do anything until it does. We also had a problem with uhaul telling the storage company to randomly take the box out of storage a week after it arrived. We got a call it was taken out by the storage company and it was just sitting out next to a busy road. We told them to put it back in the secure storage. We went to check on it a week later and it was still sitting outside with no cover on it in the pouring rain next to the busy street. I got attitude when I called and asked why it was still out there and told it would be put away soon. The app needs a lot of fixing. Just about the only thing you can do on it is pay for stuff. All of the other stuff requires calling. I will say just about everyone I talked to at uhaul throughout the whole journey was very helpful.

EVERYTHING was explained and done exactly as they said. Communication was incredible! Can't say enough good about the stall at both locations. You guys made this job super easy. Ps, also the best price by far. I already have made recommendations to family. PSS Im in the Real Estate business and will let all my future clients know how well this went. Thanks again.

The placement of Uboxes was not flexible at all! The openings for both boxes were toward to creek, which made my loading extremely difficult! Two boxes were delivered on a trailer, which came with a huge UHaul truck that was not able to turn at my parking place and they did not even bother to call a small lift to help and finally left the boxes with just about enough space for me to load!

I had no interaction with staff. I had to ask the convenience store personnel next door where to find the office as it was not labeled from the environmentally controled building. When pointed to the office, there was no one available during "open" facility hours. While there was a managers phone number posted, there was not any indication of appropriate times to call or if somone was onsite and returning in a few minutes. Coming and going over a dozen times during "open" hours there never was an indication that anyone was onsite.

Hello Steven. I had already called customer service to help. They have notes and said they notified you to call me. Anthony tried to help me best he could from his home, the second time I returned, because the other worker, Dennis, didn't quite know what to do. Lots going on there in that office. Anyway, there were NO outside units available for rent as I had reserved. All had locks on them but apparently they were labeled open in the system. It was late and pouring rain and I had to return truck so I had no other option but to unload into a second interior unit I saw was "Customer Ready" (Unit #439). Additionally, one of the interior building code boxes needs servicing and the other seems like it is working but doesn't unlock any door. The front side door is also unlocked and unable to be secured. This building is not secure. If I'm going to be paying for accessed control security, I'd like to know that my belongings are actually secure and that the door won't just be left wide open like I found it. The door remaining open won't keep the temperature what it is supposed to be and anyone can just walk in and do whatever. Please call me and we can talk further. I'd like to know how this situation is going to be remedied. Thank you. (315)529-8915

The location was a bit understaffed and we could not pick up our box on time as promised, but a supervisor stepped in and after a couple hours we were able to get our box and load it and get it back.

The instructions should have guided me to the climate controlled storage that was in a different building. There were two entrances but my pin code only worked in one of them. Was confusing and required driving to the office and waiting in line to sort it out. Great service from staff when we got there!

Dennis Davis was phenomenal. He made the process of renting a storage unit so easy and smooth. It was a fantastic option for the two months of storing my daughters college items. Anthony is well versed, present, aware and fair. Easy to communicate with and comply with. The Ithaca General Manager is the weakness in doing business with Ithaca UHaul. He does not have people or problem solving skills that are consistent with GM interaction with customers at all.

Numerous process failures resulted in many problems for me and added expense, and nearly derailed my entire move. Uhaul may expect a strongly-worded letter about these problems in detail.

The construction of the U-Boxs was less than stellar making it hard to close the boxes. Shifted quite a bit. U-Haul staff was helpful, kind and great communicators. All around a very good experience!

The moving out packing was not good. Movers recommended by Uhaul under evaluated the move. Uhaul did not recommend enough boxes and there was stress trying to get more at the last moment. The unpacking went smoothly and in both cases moving and unpacking the Uhaul people in the office and the people doing the packing/unpacking were really nice people. I would use Uhaul again and now have info to make the project better. too bad I didn't have that knowledge when I was moving.

The storage facility was fine. Attempting to reach the office without having to go through an answering service and then customer service was horrible. It was impossible to call the Ithaca store directly (they apparently never answer their own phone and it always goes to the answering service), then since the promise to have the store call me back never happened, the wait times to be connected to customer service were inconvenient and ridiculously long. Anything that requires more than 4 phone calls just to close and account and vacate a storage unit is not "customer service". Note: we were unable to go to the retail store to do this in person, since we had movers, and we are not based in Ithaca.

The storage unit given yo me had items/trash in it that we had to clean out before moving in. I tried calling from the facility but was given "all I can do is send an email". So I had to drive to the Danby Rd location to get help. It was raining/snowing and inconvenient. The reps were all nice before and after but it's sad I had the storage issue. Also I'm glad I brought my own lock because the lock that was to be provided was not. I'm giving a yes yo recommending because the people are nice and I hope this gets rectified for others after me but I'd rate a no and below average if the people weren't nice.

The storage unit I rented was given to someone else "mistakenly." Even though I had reserved it. I was given 2 storage units across the facility from each other which made my move longer and more difficult. This was the only solution I was given and the woman at the facility didn't even apologize.

The 10 x 30 unit that I had a confirmed reservation for was not held even though I arrived the day after I reserved it. I had to take a 10 x 20. The person that I dealt with was less than helpful and offered no explanation or even a simple apology. It was almost as if I was at fault. I arrived at the unit where I was told there would be a lock on the door but found there was a zip tie instead. There was no one on site even though it was during business hours. The office was open, but there was no one there or anywhere else in the complex. I went to Home Depot and bought a lock. Came back, cut off the zip tie and found the lock laying on the floor. So, every aspect of this transaction was a mess. Had I not been so desperate for a unit that I traveled almost an hour to get it, I would have walked out. The only real recourse I have is that the trucks I need to shuttle my things to the unit, and then next year to Chicago, will be rented from Penske.

My wife's name was removed from the account when it transferred from the previous owners. She opened the rental account with both of our names, her name listed first. Luckily, this only created an inconvenience. Calling the UHaul number was a waste of time. I hung up after a 20-minute hold. My wife stopped in to the UHaul store and waited in a 20-min line. The man working was rude, walking away from her to help someone else without trying to resolve her issue once he determined she was not on the account anymore. She overheard him tell someone else to call the number listed by the door. I was able to close the account the following day without incident.

Instructions indicated that we there was supposed to be a second security checkin that was not found. Tried calling U-Haul but was kept on hold for too long. Eventually just cut zip tie to get into unit.

I miss Sunny's! They were personable, always there, and very professional and organized. The attendant on duty was helpful, but your system does not seem to be working.

I have not even moved in yet! But, so far have been unable to get through to the local office at least 5 times, spent over 10 minutes on the phone making a reservation that disappeared

The billing was difficult while transitioning ownership. We had many requests for payments that were already made, bills sent to tenants, late fees applied, etc although our account was paid in full.
