When renting my Uhaul for a one way trip the person I was dealing with in Newport messed up my license with another Martin lady as well as phone number and address. Then they put me down for 4 even though I needed two. They then booked me to pick it up but didn't have it till about 3 hours later and they couldn't seem to tell me if they had storage units open so I had to book it online.

The truck was well worn. The engine was loud and I wasn't confident the transmission was going to make it. The slide out ramp was difficult to pull out and difficult push back in. Sales rep was great and overall the experience was fine however I would hope to get a newer truck next time.

The manager at this location is very unprofessional. Between cursing and sarcastically talking to his employees, he avoided dealing with any customers and continued to push the customers to a singular worker, despite the fact he was manning the desk. He then proceeded to pull a large bundle of rope out, and pretended to hit the worker that was processing my reservation. There was an issue with my reservation, so it was unnecessary and distracting. He said he had found it in the back of a returned rental and asked if she had any use for it, which then turned the conversation into a sexual nature. I am all for a fun work environment, but this was uncomfortable to watch, especially when I needed help resolving a pricing issue. I called the generic U-Haul customer service the day prior to my reservation and they told me the local location could apply my military or AAA discount at the location. The Newport, RI location said they couldn't do anything. I ended up having the call the U-Haul customer service center, where I was told this issue could have been resolved at the local location. While I was on hold, the manager didn't once ask what the issue was, but instead asked the worker what he should eat for lunch. I then asked if the rental came with a lock, it didn't so I purchased a lock from the store...it didn't fit the truck.

I rented a trailer today for 6 hours. I went over the time by 2 hours and it doubled my cost? I called the store location and the assistant said this bumped me into another pay period. If I had initially requested 8 hours my cost would have been the same as for the 6 hours. I am not happy with this service. Ide like to request a refund for the additional charge

When emptying my storage unit I realized there was rat/mouse feces all over everything! My boxes, storage bins ect... my sectional couch that I used all of 8 months was ruined and this is nor covered in the storage insurance!

I told them the address where I wanted to drop off my truck and still the wrong address was put. There were some issues with the truck we got as well, something in the cab of the truck was leaking and the gas cap was loose, it kept coming off while we were driving.

Wasn't happy with this trans action this time the truck was horrible to the point I thought it was going to break down. Soon as I drove off the gas gauage changed so it wasn't at the mark they showed me also I order a appliance dolly they gave me a utility dolly. At this point because I wasn't happy about the truck. No I wouldn't recommend it to a friend I would tell then first to drive the truck and make sure you have what you asked and apid for in the truck.

My rental leaked from the roof , my items were destroyed , it never should have gone out and I should have been given another truck to transport it to the dump. They also tried to charge my card for 100 miles a day .. It was sitting in the parking lot with no mileage.. They wanted the truck back to rent it out !!! Appallingly!!!!

There is no lighting or electrical outlet in my unit and it's extremely difficult to organize my stuff in the dark.Really a hassle and pretty disappointing since I need the extra space to get organize. It also appears that there was water damage in the unit at some point. I hope that this isn't an ongoing problem. The employee who I dealt with just prior to renting the unit (when I needed a truck) was helpful. However, the key I received with the contract didn't work in the truck. The ID number on the contract matched the truck as did the license plate, but the key went to a different truck which is the one I ultimately used. To be clear, the contract didn't match the truck I drove, which seems like a liability for all parties. Also, I realized a couple of days later that I left a bag of painting supplies in the truck. When I called and explained that I was looking for my belongings, the person on the phone didn't miss a beat when he said that no one had turned it in. I had barely gotten the words out when he gave his absolute answer of "no." He didn't say that he would look or anything helpful: he just kept repeating that the bag wasn't there. I didn't find him credible, and his lack of concern for my inquiry was a great example of poor customer service. I have always worked in fields that required interacting with customers and I was really disappointed with the way he handled the situation. I went in to speak with someone about my missing bag, and spoke with another employee, JT, who was quite helpful. He said he had indeed found my bag and he proceeded to pull it out from under the workstation. I told him who I spoke to and he told me that it was the manager. Unbelievable. I'm grateful to JT for his honesty and attentiveness. He had even attempted calling customers who had previously rented the truck until he got too busy and was unable to call more customers. Maybe some remedial customer service training is in order for the manager in question.

The facility is great. The problem is the limited and unhelpful staff (both on the phone or in person). I have been spending thousands of dollars annually at the 111 JT Connell HWY location for 2 decades. Some of the staff are degenerates, underpaid, unmotivated, unpleasant and unprofessional. And a couple others have to work twice as hard to make up for the slackers and only paid peanuts. Hire better staff and THAT facility will do MUCH better, trust me! I also HATE things: the excessive, documents, emails, calls and texts for a simple storage bill, WAY TOO MUCH notification. U-Haul is NOT my life's priority!

Brian is an excellent manager. I watched him handle 10 customers in 20 minutes. Each of us wanted different things and Brian took care of everyone. U-haul is lucky to have him.

Other than losing half my stuff due to the flood I have always used uhaul for everything my renters insurance didn't cover flood damage and I lost at least half my stuff. As I went through it everything had water damage and mold.

There was one bad flood of the ground floor in the 2 years that I had my unit, but the staff was very helpful and accommodating to all of us when this happened, and made wooden pallets and helpers available to raise my furniture off the wet floor to minimize moisture damage.

This place is run by a completely brainless idiot, Alex. He is the worst manager ever, overcharged me $50 per month, I was quoted $134,95 for my unit, and the price changed the day I moved in!!! The place is always dirty, they restricted my access and never told me why and a piece of my furniture was stolen. Never using this place and I'll be sure to tell everyone what a jerk Alex is, he should be fired. What a clown.

Everything was totally fine. Sometimes a long wait to talk to staff at the desk, but that seemed to be because they took time with each customer, so it was alright. Staff was very nice and helpful.

We rented the storage unit over the summer to store some of our daughter's belongings in between school years at her college. Her move in date was set by her school (September 5th). When we moved out of the Uhaul facility, (we also rented a van from Uhaul on 9/5 to move her belongings) I inquired about receiving a pro-rated bill as we left 5 days into the billing cycle. I was informed that Uhaul doesn't pro-rate. I find this very disappointing and it will be a consideration the next time I'm looking for a facility to rent storage space or van/truck.

Storage unit to hard to access with narrow halls, old garage door opening, stairs, and way too low of ceilings on unit. Good for something small, but not for anything large like furniture.

This is my third experience in this facility and definitely the worst one! The lower storages are not suitable any longer with the rapid growing change in climate control ( this is the truth that we all have to face now and not later ) . Adjustments must be considered and now! Merci

The Crew on site was terrific...very personable and attentive. Everything was great, until I had to use the restroom, just to urinate. It was very clean...the entire facility was impeccably clean.. But, the restroom - the smell of sewage was so strong, so wretched, I nearly vomited. I did not even pee...just got out as fast as I could to catch my breath. Call a plumber quick!

BUYER BEWARE! the unit is smallish but ok. When I reserved I was told I had a ground floor unit. when I got to the place on move in day I was told no ground floor units available of the size I wanted, that's not cool. When I asked about a bigger unit ground floor I was told there were none. I moved into a second floor unit, no elevator, I wasn't told there was no elevator when they told me I couldn't be on the ground floor. After loading in I decided to look around I found a unit on the first floor vacant. I went and inquired at the desk and lo and behold I got it for about 10 bucks a month more than I was already paying. The whole bait and switch scam stinks. The system for getting into the lockers is antiquated and wasn't well explained. They shouldd have a picture of the entrance way and expain to you with visuals how you get in; because the desk guy was totally unclear. You have to pay extra for 24hour access, which again is just another bogus upsell. I only need the space short term and the storage location is near me or I'd have gone else where. However, yes the staff guy who checked me was friendly which is the only reason I didn''t grade this place beyond poor. Oh, and one last thing, they have sent me four emails and two texts bugging me to review them. I wanted to just let it go but they wouldn't let me. so sorry folks here's your review, your place is not good.

Impossible to get a staff member's assistance. Technology issues with the key card made it so that I could not access my unit without staff help for the first month. Staff were polite but very unhelpful.

I lost due to water damage, many items on the morning after the flood. Is there a way to recoup losses? Being that the entire place was a crowded, wet, truck laden area, with people running around, we had to dump many items because you wanted all units emptied, I had no place to store items, and felt rushed to empty and get out of there.

Everyone at the Newport location was very professional. Jordan processed the storage unit for me. He was professional. It seems like they are short staffed but other than that, all was fine. No issues. Huge shout out to Ian for realizing I'd left my wallet and phone in the rental and returning them to me. Thank you so much!

Everything appeared great, until I went to move out from the unit. I found mouse droppings and an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke that hopefully comes out of my furniture (I don't smoke).

My overall experience with the staff at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Newport was excellent. I did have an issue with the overall experience with U-Haul on the phone. Very poor service overall.

Had a bit of a kerfuffle when I was charged rent after I moved out. It took several phone calls and two days to hopefully get that sorted out. We'll see if it's removed on the next statement.
