DO THESE BOXES HAVE TO BE SET UP OR DO THEY COME FLAT

The 14x14x14 shipping box, is it strong enough to hold magazines and magazine size books with sewing patterns in them? I was hoping to get the book box but it's to small. I need at least a 12 1/2 high x 11 deep x 12 width.
