When a third party is representing u-haul, it should be more transparent. The user experience at these various places is quite inconsistent. For example, my rental was supposed to be available for pickup at 10:30 a.m. today at a different location from the one I actually picked up at. Unfortunately, that location was closed and wouldn't open until noon. They had not left the key or instruction for the pickup and I was out of luck. Three hired hands and the clock was running with no truck. I had to shift gears and try to find a truck from another location -- farther away from my initial choice. This "app-based" approach has potential but the user experience leaves much to be desired.ALEXANDER M.

The couple not technically savvy. I was over charged, charged twice, and charged for boxes I never received -- despite telling her multiple times that I paid for them. I even showed my bank account, but still I was made out to be a fool. Then I was called 1 hour later after leaving and told "you are right, you paid for them... you can come back and pick them up." I then said "no thank you, I have a strict limit on miles" but wasn't offered my money back or any support in rectifying the mistake. Furthermore the truck was boxed in by the angry neighbor business owner next door, who refused to move his truck when I asked politely .ANTHONY I.

Have the truck available at the agreed upon reservation time - mot 2 1/2 hours later. Also, it would be good to not raise the price for insurance, after verbally quoting a lower price - and then not being willing or able to make any sort of adjustment on the overall amount due.LARRY E.
The customer service was deplorable. On the phone to make a reservation they were rude and upon pick up at the store, once we found it, we were created with belligerence. The signage for the location was predominantly a water store with a very small sign that said Uhaul. They were combative about the signage when we told them we had a hard time locating the store. When filling out the paperwork they asked for 3 phone numbers and called the 3rd, asked to see phone numbers in our cellphone. I was treated like a criminal and with no respect.JESSICA W.

The employee at the location had poor customer service. He initially stated that if I did not have a second "emergency" phone number of a friend, then I wouldn't be able to rent the equipment. His associate then kept trying to add additional equipment and coverage that I had already declined during my online reservation. Even after I told her that I did not want any coverage, she clicked the button for "basic coverage," and I had to ask her to please remove it.Narineh S.

Saying I have a baby and because of that I should take insurance as if she knows I can drive or not. I was overcharged, I know it's 79 cents a mile, but I went from thinking I was going to spend 60 dollars at most, and ended up spending almost 90. Rochelle or whatever her name is was not helpful. This place and owner are TERRIBLE, they gave me a hard time during my entire experience. She was rude and mean for no reason at all. First she said I couldn't extend my reservation for more than 24 hours (the U-Haul representative that set up the reservation said I could and I have in the past without issues). After asking intrusive and personal questions, she extended the reservation. She asked if I was getting evicted and that I should use a storage unit instead. The worst experience I have ever had with U-haul and I have been a customer for years. Avoid this location if possible.PATRICIA D.

The person working there was very rude very judge mental borderline racist. Pretty much act like I want to steal the van ask for more information and she would probably ask anybody else. At the end of the transaction ask sales person to charge one card as she took it upon to charge the card I said not to charge. I recommend renting a uhaul truck from this location if you want to make your moving day more difficult than it already is. I received a call the day before from the uhaul corporate office that the pick up time was moved from 8am to 9am because the rental business wouldn't be available at 8am. No big deal. I get a call at 7am on my move day saying the 26' truck I requested is not available and they were giving me a 20' truck, I'm starting to get a little annoyed but the uhaul operator makes it better by giving me a discount on mileage. I get an angry call at 8:59am from the owner of the rental store upset why I'm not there to pick up my rental? This could be that I'm a millennial snowflake, or that I received the call before one minute before my new reservation time that I adjusted to accommodate the store, or that the woman who called me had ZERO bedside manner and was extremely rude and demanding I pick up the truck immediately. When I picked up the truck I tried to let the experience with her roll off my back but when I asked about my discount she griped that she wasn't making money off my rental and wasn't happy with my discount.....ok? The truck was in good condition and I had ZERO problems with the equipment. When I arrived to drop the truck off at 3pm, the time she reiterated to me that I needed to have the truck back, the doors to the business were locked. Ok, no big deal, prob in the bathroom or something. When she came out she was upset that I didn't sweep the truck (she NEVER looked in the back of the truck). I didn't need to sweep the truck because I kept it clean but she went back inside and left a broom at the back door. No big deal I thought I'll sweep out the truck, at this point I was bored and already waiting 8 - 10 minutes to drop off my truck. Ironic since she was upset with me because I wasn't there to pick up my rental 1 minute before my appointment time. There was another gentleman that was dropping off a van a few min after me. She said she was going to help him first which she did. I didn't care as my frustration with this place already reached its limit for the day. I didn't pay too much attention to their exchange but knew that guy was also upset after his interaction with her. I guess there's some consistency with the business. Overall, I had zero problems with uhaul, and the truck. The store where I rented the truck from did make everything more stressful. I haven't had that kind of stress with a rental store ever. I hope they can figure out their kinks with their operations, I do not intend to find out though.CHRISTOPHER G.

I scheduled an appointment and I had to wait 30 minutes to get my truck. The truck was dirty, and you charged me 25$ for cleaning it after I brought it back. Why?!? There is no return box at the location. I spent 20 minutes to find the way to drop the keys off. You charged me two days, even if I used the truck only for one day. You charged me extra hours even if I brought the truck back sooner then planned. I'm very unsatisfied.Mario A.

The location is fine. The issue was the truck share pick up protocol. It is designed to solve one problem but creates other problems for the customer. The Design lacks elegance and puts a strain on the person picking up the truck. For example, I was told the system would call to verify the reference. They text. Two of my people did not look for a text. So I was denied access To the truck early in the morning in the dark in the cold. I was told I'd have to wait 3 1/2 hours until the store opened. I was also told that if I didn't get access by 7 AM, I would lose the truck altogether. It's a stressful way to start what is going to be a stressful day. This was my first time ever using Uhaul. I picked up my rental truck, not from a actual Uhaul distribution center. This was at a commercial distributor. Based out of a water store, this was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had. I had reserved 2 furniture dollies and they had none available. The man who very unpleasantly greeted me told me he had no furniture dollies available and was very short with me and had no intention on giving me an alternative. The customer ahead of me was dealing the same exact thing. The man and woman who were working both had an immediate attitude and I didn't see one smile from either of them the entire time I was there. I had the worst experience with Uhaul in Reseda location. They charged me extra 20$ after hour service fee incorrectly. I was also charged cleaning fee without any reason as I returned the truck in the same condition as i took it. When I called them for the resolution, they were not helpful at all. I payed with a prepaid gift card which charges 100 $automatically and when I return the truck , the difference will be taken off. But when I returned the truck my total was only 79$ So I was suppose to receive 21 $cash back since I used a gift card. The lady that helped me was great with checking out the truck but the gentleman was unprofessional, she was telling him in the back that I used a gift card so they have to pay me cash back but the gentleman did not listen to her. He came to me with his phone on the U-Haul system, first he made sure my email was correct but on the next question it asked â€œwould you like to sendâ€ and he clicked No right infront of my face but then told me that I will receive an email. He is an older gentleman so I'm sure he didn't realize I could see his phone screen clear as day so I waited inside for a few minutes for an email that I knew wasn't coming as he quickly went to the back. Moral of the story, I didn't want to start a whole scene over 20 $and I already had a busy day so I just left and waited for this review emailðŸ˜‡JERON W.

Very bad neighborhood, not safe to drop off at night. Was called I needed to leave the U-Haul in the rear of the building. This area had a lot of gang members out back and people shooting up drugs. The Self return on the app had to be completed and as a result of the people hanging around i didn't feel comfortable. At a minimum after hours the trucks should be allowed to park in the front parking lot where it's more populated by people visiting the shopping center which would provide a safer environment.Bryan B.

The lady who checked me in/out at Aqua Vitae was rude. She wasn't helpful, didn't even look at me and spoke so quietly I couldn't understand her most of the time. When I was checking in, she messed up and started checking me into another customer's appointment all while lecturing me for not filling out the online form correctly, using the wrong name, address, etc. Do NOT recommend this location!Nikita M.

The email address on the system wasn't updated when my mother in law called to reserve a U-Haul truck. My mother in law called this morning and spoke to a female. The lady told my mother in law she was to busy and didn't help her at all with the receipt. This is really bad customer service from this location representing your U-Haul business. Rented a UHAUL van in this place and the old guy who assisted us when we returned the van was very RUDE. He told us that the van was dirty, when it was already like that when we picked it up. We used the van to load our bed frames, mattress, drawers, cabinets that were in our bedroom so there's no way that we dirtied the van. He even told us that ALL their "costumers are like that, they always say they cleaned the van and filled up the tank but they don't." We felt insulted because we put gas in the tank, more than when we got the van in the morning and the back of the van was already dirty and got blamed for it. He made us clean the van (brought a broom out from their office and gave it to us) mind you, I'm 8 months PREGNANT and wanted me to help my husband clean the inside of the van. It was ridiculous! He was yelling at us and comparing all their costumers. Saying we are all the same. So if you don't want to get yelled at, and forced to clean the van, and get insulted by someone who you're helping their business. You better find a better place to rent! A couple hours before my pickup, I received a phone call from a UHaul customer rep saying that a cargo van was no longer available at the original location, and there was one available somewhat near. The new location was actually close to my house, so I was fine with this. As I was driving to the location (a half hour early), I noticed a text come in with the location address. I didn't respond as I only saw it while stopped at red light and don't text even at red lights. During the next few minutes, the location (I didn't know if was someone from the location or an auto reminder from UHaul. I walked into the store about 15 minutes. When I said hi, I have a cargo van pickup, a woman there said 'oh, you're Karen? I was ready to cancel your reservation because you didn't show up and you weren't answering my texts. In the previous 15 minutes, she had sent a couple more texts asking if I was going to show up. I still hadn't seen those texts, because as soon as I got there, I got out of my babysitter's car (she drove me there) and in because I wanted to get the pickup done. I told her "I confirmed on the phone with UHaul a couple of hours ago. Why would you be ready to cancel me before my reservation time even happened?" She said she had been texting me (it had been less than 20 minutes at this point, and still before my reservation time) and since I didn't answer, she thought I wouldn't show up so was going to cancel my reservation. I said 'I talked to a real person 2 hours ago and they told me this is where I needed to come. I said ok, I will be there." She got very upset at me and said "oh, a real person? Am I not a real person? I'm the dealer. I'm the one that you need to be communicating with." I got very firm and said "How would I know who was texting me, and especially at a time when I was driving here, not looking at my phone, AND early for my reservation?" I confirmed with the corporation. If they didn't let you know through the system, that's on them and not my fault at all. Is the cargo van here for me to pickup? By the end of the pickup, she was being very (overly) nice to me. I will NEVER go to that location again. Besides the woman and her husband, it's a whole in the water 'all in one get your water, miscellaneous stuff here' with stuff all over the place. This was the 3rd location I had to go to in order to get a rental, and I had made a reservation the day before, one that was confirmed both via email, text and a phone call from a representative. By the time I got to this location I was 2 hours behind schedule. When I told the owners I needed to return to the original location I rented (much closer to my house) they refused. The owners of this location were making me jump through hoops because I originally said I didn't want coverage on the rental, which just added to my irritation and made me even tighter on my already late schedule due to the glitch. I was never told exactly why I had to go to 3 different locations. The error made on the companies part made the day very challenging for me, I will NEVER rent from here again.Nicole B.

Damage on the roof that contained rusted metal that was likely years old. Upon return owner (Husband/Wife couple) proceeded to check on the van and immediately came back with a photo of the damage. I was accused of damaging the roof. I asked if they had photos of the roof from previous rentals and they denied taking any. They were a nice couple, but the experience was highly suspicious. It seemed as if they were well aware of the damage in advance and are trying to get a free repair. Would not be surprised if this has happened to previous customers at this location. This location was adequate, but UHAUL as a company royally sucked and I would not recommend that anyone use your truck service. I had a reservation and I was told to pick up the truck on Alabama street. So we went and there was a 10 foot box truck there. After about 10 minutes of not being able to remotely get into the truck and calling UHAUL to no avail, the app told me that my pickup location had changed which is why I couldn't get into the truck. It then sent me 5 miles east (opposite from where I was going) to pick up another truck. I get there find the right truck and as I am signing in I get notice that my reservation had been cancelled and now I needed to go to a third location on Etiwanda Street to pick up my truck. Fortunately, the nice folks at this location where able to rent me a truck. But I will never again use UHAUL.JAMES H.
