It was hard to contact the correct person to get the combination for the truck key in the back of the truck. I left many messages and never received a call back for about 30 minutes. The day before I was sent an email to call and confirm, I called multiple times to confirm and there was no answer. It was also very confusing that I had two separate contracts one for the truck and one for the tow dolly. This is confusing and created more work on my part. For some reason I couldn't do Express check in for my truck until I actually spoke with the gentleman on the phone in Brunkild then it showed up on my U-Haul account online. That confused me. the clerk at the store was quite helpful and tried his best to help me in any way he could.
The return process was uncertain at best. The location wasn't sure of what they needed to do, what paperwork to keep and weren't expecting a trailer to be dropped off. I should have checked online for better awareness of the process. The customer service rep I called was very helpful and everything was resolved easily.
The rep didn't understand how to help me - or even if I had to pay when I picked the trailer up. I called UHaul and they told me that I paid when I dropped off - not when I picked up. This proved to be incorrect as UHaul emailed me on Monday telling me they urgently needed to speak to me. I asked for assistance in hooking up the trailer to my vehicle and he refused to help. My 91 year old father had to provide guidance as I had no idea how to do it. The place in Brunkild did not accept credit cards, only cash or debit - totally ridiculous! All around a horrible experience - which I did convey to UHaul - but UHaul has not responded to my conversation that I know of. (I did have e-mail problems from late afternoon on Monday until late afternoon Wednesday - so if they sent me an e-mail - please resend it.
When trying to make the reservation online, the inventory in Brunkild showed no trailer available. After other location options were frustrated, I phoned uhaul and customer support suddenly told me it was available. Good ending.
The whole experience was not good. We booked back in November and got a phone call to pick up in Brunkild since this was apparently the only location with a 26ft truck. This was an extra 2hr drive out of out way. I had to pay 2 guys to drive there at pick up. This cost me an additional $100 in labour. Then when the guys got there the owner was not there for us. We got 3 phone calls before this specifically asking us what time we would pick up. Each time we gave a time and they said no problem since it was open until 10pm. My guys had to wait 1hr for the owner to show. This cost me an additional $50 in labour. I also had 4 separate guys at our location waiting for another hour since they were late because of the store owner. Now this cost me another $100 in labour at the job site. To top it all off the uhaul was barrier in the back under snow so my two guys had to dig it out, wipe snow off and the thing barley started. Overall because of the poor planning on uhauls behalf and communication you cost me an additional $250 in labour that should have been $0 for us. Not impressed at all.
