I have dealt with Brittany, the storage manger, and like her very much and the way she has treated me for the last 3 years. That makes all the difference because I called a couple locations closer to where I was doing a pickup. They were not to helpful and rude with one guy hanging up. Customer service! I went to pick up my U-Haul and the office was closed. The kiosk was closed. I called the phone number and it was disconnected. I called U-Haul customer service and was put on hold for 30 mins the first time. Mean while I'm sitting outside of a closed storage place not having any idea what to do. I had deadlines that I had to make that day and I was already an hour behind schedule because of this. Finally they tell me a code for a lock box. I go to get the key from the lock box and THERE WAS NO KEY!!! I called back and was put on hold for another 30 mins. Finally they come back on the line and tell me someone will be bringing a key out to me. I had other customer service representatives calling my alternate contacts for some reason. They were giving them separate instructions to tell me to go to a different location. It was extremely confusing and frustrating. They did offer me a $50 credit and I understand we're in the middle of a pandemic but the whole situation was handled very poorly. When I finally got the U-Haul to my house I opened it up and they had given me the wrong dolly. I asked for the appliance dolly and was given the regular dolly. I needed the bigger one for my appliances.Kami P.
I was charged for more gas. Let's just start with I left it over a half of tank when I was told to bring it back with just slightly less then a half well I drove straight to my house and back. To the uhaul but they didn't correctly do the distances cause the guy says I drove over the limit well you fuckers are lieing about that whatever you could have just took it out of the extra fucking gas I left in the truck then I said I'll siphon out the extra gas I put in it he wanted to get lil chest out and toss his mouth around I'm fine with never renting from them again just know in this state you might just talk shit to the wrong guy and end up on the news!!!! We arrived before 6pm, their posted closing time, while the OPEN sign was on and flashing. Nevertheless, no one was there to open the door, the door was locked, no one answered the phone and at 6pm the sign turned off and we witnessed a vehicle depart from the back parking area, presumably that belonging to the individual who was inside all along ignoring that we were there (cameras facing the lot were providing live video no doubt signaling our presence). We arrived before closing and no one let us return the truck to them, so we had to spend extra time after dark in a parking lot trying to go through the return process on the phone though cell reception to do so was spotty and the area somewhat dodgy. Would really have preferred to deal with someone inside. Not great.Holly B.
I ordered the $10 appliances dolly upon reservation. When I got the uhaul it wasn't in there so I had to use the regular dolly that cost $7. They still charged the $10 and then $14 for the $7 dolly.Jacob C.

You rented me a vehicle with 1/4 of a tank of gas. I had to fill up before I used the vehicle and again when I returned it. This was a waste of my time and lead me to feel disappointed about the rental.LAURA L.

I do not recommend this location to my worst enemy. Mr. Shaw was really nice, but had to call his boss several times to help me. He swiped my debit card about 5 times before his boss told him that I needed to call Uhaul, which I had to do TWICE to get things completed. The woman in the office was rude to other customers and was dressed unprofessionally. I was very uncomfortable at this location.Christina R.
The mileage was not enough from the pickup location to the loading/unloading and back to the drop off location. I went over about 6 miles, which I was charged for.MARC G.

I did not speak to a person at the drop off location. I did, however, talk with a very knowledgeable and friendly representative (forgive me as I was SO tired by this time I cannot remember her name). She helped me change my drop off location which saved me MUCH trouble and time. my u-haul experience was overall GREAT!Lori H.

Im not saying this location is bad. When I called the 800 number this was the only location with the size truck I needed. It was a weekend so that I understand. I thought I was told by the Uhaul call center that a hand truck came with any rental trucks 15 feet and over so I assumed it was in the truck. I get to my furniture location and to my surprise no hand truck. I drove 25 miles one way to the country so I was out of luck. Lets just say my wife got a good workout she was not expecting. I was happy to get a truck. However, this location is for last minute use only. Next time I will try to plan ahead and be sure to make sure I have a hand truck. I do want to thank Uhaul for accommodating me on such short notice. It was a tuff move but we managed. Please take this as information only and not a complaint. The personnel at Alcatraz Self Storage are friendly and helpful far beyond expectations. The only issue with my rental experience was the U-Haul website indicated and accepted a rental pick-up time of 0900. Unfortunately the business does not open until 1000. That put quite a "kink" in my plans for the day and required me to rearrange my tight schedule for the day. Not so good considering we are in the process of packing our house, getting ready to move in less than 10 days. I want to point out this issue was not the fault of Alcatraz Self Storage but a fault in the U-Haul on-line reservation system that did not have proper business hours for Alcatraz. I hope this gets fixed so future renters are not inconvenienced.Joseph G.
