Overall, this was not a great experience. I'm not sure ultimately whose fault it is but we were stuck in the parking lot pushing 2 hours waiting on customer service because the link was not available through the app to get the process started. After waiting 45 minutes for a call back, the representative was able to get the link up and running to submit the photos. Everything else went smoothly after that but I likely would not do this self service process again with U-Haul.Andrew K.

The fixed location of the hand truck and the extra furniture pads at the rear end of the truck impeded loading in that area. Unlatching the hand truck and breaking seal would create an additional charge even if it wasn't used. It was in the way. If the customer declines the additional rental of an item don't put it in the truck. Other than that the service and personnel were very accommodating and personable. A good experience.DouglasJ W.

The establishment was very nice. The truck that I eventually got suited my needs. I didn't get the dolly but most likely due to the mishap from the first truck. Upon entering the establishment, I rang the bell for service and was greeted right away with a younger masked woman. I explained that I was having issues on the app obtaining the truck. She obliged but something didn't feel right. Almost like she didn't want to help. She confirmed that I was keeping the truck over night and asked if I was coming back to get my car. I stayed yes and before I could say anything she just blurted out by 4. Her tone wasn't friendly. It's customer service. She could have simply stated that the gates would be locked up by 4 and I would have to come by then. It was simply by 4. In a very short tone. I got the keys and went to the truck. Very cold day. The key would not go into the ignition. I took it out and tried again. I put it in the ignition and turned it and the key broke immediately. I went back inside after only being outside a matter a minute or two. Just enough time to start the truck and told her the key broke. She got her manager and they got me another truck. What's upsetting is that they use radios for communication and while he's outside, he asked her over the radio about charging me for the key that I broke. She didn't say anything to me about it. A few mins go by while she's doing then paperwork for the new truck and I ask about â€œsaid questionâ€. She stated that I broke they key and would have to replace it as well as any charges of removing the ignition if that had to be done. I immediately said that I was disputing that charge and I didn't feel that I did anything. It's extremely cold, and I didn't do anything abusive to the key. Just turned it. Her response. â€œI figuredâ€. Meaning she figured I was goi g to dispute that charge. I moved my car from inside the gate and parked next to the other trucks because now I wasn't able to keep it over night due to another reservation for the new truck. Again, another inconvenience. I wouldn't have rented over night if I didn't need it. Now I have to do every as fast as I could and not according to what I booked. When I got to the new truck I asked the manager. â€œSo what's upâ€ can you talk to me about this key situation. He said that I broke the key so I should have to pay for it. I expressed that, that is the poorest customer service ever. I never even left the property, I simply tried to start the truck. I expressed the temperature outside and because it was cold maybe the ignition was stuck or the key was already weakened at some point. He said he would make a phone call and never got back to me. I'm assuming at this point I'm not being charged but haven't heard anything. Uhaul is a huge company. The company that is an authorized reatauler for them is a huge company. I own my own business. Customer service 101. You don't treat someone like that. Had I left the parking lot and had it for hours and broke it, I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on, but I couldn't even start it from the parking spot upon pick up.Robbie S.
Your website to pick up keys is incredibly genius but I have the worst luck with it. Every time I use it the browser crashes, then I need to restart. It took me almost an hour to get inside my rental truck this morning. My experience overall was good but I will definitely be going to the counter from now on to pick up my keys.Patrick C.

Great experience from start to finish, Made reservation for a van and it was available and ready on time. Office personnel were friendly and helpful. There was a gentleman in front of me that didn't seem to have much money and the representative allowed him to rent a truck the entire holiday weekend for the price of a two day rental. Very kind and great holiday spirit! The only negative I had were the seats had some animal hair on them but if that's the worse thing I had to deal with then I am happy. Easy return after hours. 1) I needed to rent a utility trailer. When I made my reservation, I provided the information about my vehicle. I was surprised that I had to purchase an adapter in order to connect the trailer wiring to my vehicle. 2) Less than 2 miles after leaving the rental location, the trailer lights stopped working. Booked online. Was given the option to choose pickup and dropoff locations, with only the drop off location specifically stating that it was only a preference and may change. Original chosen pickup location was 2 mins from my house but instead was changed to a location 30 minutes away which was incredibly inconvenient. Also selected to have in person pickup rather than 24/7 pickup as the website gave this as an option. When checking my order before pickup, I found that I had been switched to 24/7 pickup and there would not be a Uhaul employee at pickup. I called the number provided to discuss the order and the customer service rep was incredibly unhelpful, rude, and completely unbothered by my dissatisfaction with the experience. Basically told me nothing was wrong and that this was the process. During the phone call, I received 2 text messages right after I mentioned that I didn't select 24/7 pickup and was expecting a person to be there. The messages said that due to Covid-19 everyone was encouraged to use 24/7 pickup--this is sensible, but if that's clearly the way that Uhaul is/wants to handle rentals, then don't provide an option for pickup with a representative present. Set proper expectations for your customers upfront so they aren't surprised/disappointed/frustrated if/when you change something after purchase. Ultimately I went through with the rental because what choice did I have 24 hours before pickup. However, given my experience with this rental and your lackluster customer service, I will consider alternatives for future moving needs.Brandon E.

The location is fantastic! However, the U-Haul reservation app needs to be fixed - implying to a customer that a rental is available at a location and then 24 hrs later getting communication that the rental will be picked up somewhere else that's 10+ miles away is totally unacceptable. If the app can't be fixed, then a 'limited mileage' filter should be incorporated so that reservations won't be accepted if the eventual rental location exceeds the limited mileage filter value. Example: My limited mileage filter is 5 miles. If the alternate location drive is more than 5 miles, the reservation is either not accepted or is cancelled, not automatically scheduled 24 hrs later.Paul A.
