Our reservation was made for a 20' truck for the downtown location on 9th Avenue in Huntington, WV (1 mile from our home) and at the last minute they called and switched our reservation to the H&B Metal location in Grayson, KY., a full 75 mile round trip (2 hours) the wrong way. We had already checked in and paid in full online but were made to stand in line behind others and go through the whole process again once we arrived. Why? What is the point of paying and checking in online if you have to go through it all over again? The truck we were given was a 26' truck instead of a 20' as reserved, which is a problem because we can't get a 26' truck up our steep driveway making the move MUCH, MUCH, MUCH MORE DIFFICULT. The lady at the desk in KY was rude and painfully slow and our moving helpers had to be delayed which meant we had them for less time as a result. This lady also kept acting like she was doing us a favour with the larger truck which could not have been farther from the truth. When we picked up, the truck was filthy both inside the cab and inside the cargo area which had what appeared to be broken drywall everywhere. The office was so dirty we didn't want to touch anything, the windows were open and flies were everywhere and it was very hot inside. To top it off, despite asking, we were not given the full extra 75 miles we had to drive, nor was our drop off time extended to accommodate the extra 2 hour timeframe for having to go out of our way to pick up at this location. This was another horrible U-Haul experience thanks to this location and the downtown Huntington, WV location. U-Haul is getting worse and worse as time goes on (equipment condition, customer service, cost) and locations like these two certainly dont leave a person with favorable thoughts. Honestly, I just don't think U-Haul gives a damn about their customers they way we are treated and I would consider this location an epic fail to be avoided at all costs.Ronna W.

Good experience with reserving, picking up, and returning the U Haul. The employees were are very kind and helpful. There was only one small glitch. We asked for, and paid for a dolly, and there was not one in the u-haul. We probably should have checked to see if it was in the truck before we left.Joey E.

The truck I rented was nearly new according to mileage, but it drove and rode horribly bad. It appeared every tire was out of balance. It reminded me of a rebuilt wreck, I had rented same size truck a week earlier and had totally different experience.Rex C.

Have a bench seat in the vans or a center console insert would be nice. Carrying a purse or fragile object is hard when the floors of the vehicles are muddy/dirty. You cannot blame the dealers for this, they stay too busy to deep clean the vehicles. We brought ours back cleaned/disinfected, but that doesnt mean others will.Michael K.

The mobile check in process did not work. If I had not edited my time to an earlier time before business was closed, I wouldn't have been able to get it that day. The utility dolly was not available and was very much needed. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful.SHANNON S.

Friendly people however I was told I would be billed when truck was dropped off and the immediately debited my account. They also quoted me one price and charged another after he bad mouthed battery terminal salesman for doing the same thing. Saying if I had gone there it would have been a low rate and then extra charges would apply at drop off. My husband and I are on disability and it was definitely not expected that our truck would breakdown but at least tell me the truth about charges. With this experience I hope I do not need another rental.Darrell W.

We originally were told we could pick up at Ashland battery terminal went there to pick up our truck and they said they no longer had one. Everything was rented. Then we had to drive out of our way to Grayson to even get a truck and then when we got the truck they charged us for 2 days when we only wanted 1 day. No one could seem to get us our money back. The U-Haul came with a note saying it had not been cleaned (I had to do it myself), I was charged 136 $for 80-90 miles, and I was charged a second time for an even higher amount for no reason I can find. In total I ended up paying 300 $. . .david H.

As always Mr Hall of Grayson KY & his staff went above & beyond with my moving experience. Moving is a nightmare and is never easy work! Having frozen banking accounts totally messes up the moving process. A problem that surfaced during the truck rental! Since Mr Hall was aware of my banking dilemma because my card would not work while trying to pay for the rental he then stepped in and allowed me to stay on track with my moving & my work crew. Who does that type of customer service these days??? NOBODY!!! He allowed me to take my crew & his UHaul on to get the job done! He told me once I resolved my financial delimma then I could pay him. Mr Hall knows me & that I had rented from him multiple times in the last couple of years. He knows I will make this right with him. BUT...again who does that in this day & time??? Again NOBODY!!! Thank you Mr Hall for providing the UHaul services in our community. A special thank you for being the most awesome business man in our town. I can not say thank you enough!!! The key drop box was on the backside of a building on the back of the lot. We arrived after hours and had to walk around the property to find the drop box. It would have been helpful to have a sign indicating where the drop box was located, or to have received this in an email.Rhonda O.

I used a 20 foot truck uhaul before and used 20 dollars on a 2 and a half hour trip i took this one 3 hours and it used 50 and still had to put more in it after that it was rediculous then yall charge me again for the fuel when the truck isnt running right i couldnt afford the fuel in the piece of junkRandall S.
