The Alameda location is scary

I called to schedule a truck and the woman on the phone was extremely nice and helpful. Unfortunately when she scheduled my pick up it was for a counter pick up. I arrived at the location to have the person at the furniture store tell me that they just store trucks at that location and to call. I proceeded to call or do a mobile pick up. I tried to set up the 24/7 pickup online just to set everything up and it say I had a counter pick up and had to do it in person. I then called and waited on hold for 20 minutes. When I finally got through I was approached by someone who acted like they worked for Uhaul. I was going back and forth between the lady on the phone and the lady in person. Woman told me I needed to get off the phone to get confirmation. It finally went through. Long story short, I spent 45-50 minutes picking up a truck that should have taken 5 minutes.
Lockbox was not in the location on website. After find the lock box it took some serious effort to get the lock to budge open.
Your automatic rental flow is way too difficult and time consuming. You need to work on that.

Representative could not seem to make her U-Haul app work on her phone, so the rental process took nearly an hour. Then she signed me up for some insurance that I did not request nor agree to. I do NOT recommend that anyone rent a truck from this location.
Our experience today was quite stressful. This was due to the fact that we reserved our truck two weeks in advance and wasn't there when we needed it. We showed up to our location and the person who had the truck we were reserved to use had not returned it and there was nothing left for us to rent. Keep in mind this is our one day to move. We appreciate the fact that there was at least a truck available for us. However, we did have to drive quite the distance out of our way and it delayed our entire day 2 hours. In the future I would recommend notifying us before we show up to let us adjust to the situation in advance rather than scrambling and praying for a truck to be available.
Be prepared. Hire more staff. Get your shit together. I was told I could pick up at 8am. I went in at 9am and was told I had to wait until 11am. Day ruined.
This is a review of Uhaul.. not of this location. Unfortunately I did not have a positive experience using your services. I live in Aspen Co and was relocating to Denver. I scheduled my Uhaul pick-up in Carbondale and was told two days prior to my move that there were not any trucks available at the Carbondale or Glenwood Springs location and that I would have to go to gypsum to pick up the vehicle. This came as bad news since this added an additional 3 hours to pick up the truck when I was already on a tight move schedule. I spoke with helen in gypsum who was kind enough to let me come the day prior since I needed to be in Denver at a certain time for my move and could not afford to take on 3 additional hours in the morning. Unfortunately when I picked up the vehicle and was driving back towards Aspen, they shut down I-70 due to a mudslide. The road was not set to open for at least four hours. This would have us back in Aspen well after midnight with a full move the next day. My boyfriend and I had to drive all the way around via minturn, through leadville and then through independence pass in the dark. This led to obviously more expense in gas and I was charged $42 dollars in addition to the miles. He was driving the uhaul and I was driving my car so gas expenses were doubled. It was an extremely frustrating and exhausting ordeal and could have been prevented. I would like to request a refund on the additional miles I incurred for this inconvenience and anything else you can help with. I'm not upset regarding this situation anymore but I do not think I will ever utilize uhaul services again nor recommend uhaul to any friends or family. What could have made the situation right is if I would have received advance notice regarding the change in pick up location or had a representative drive the truck to carbdonale where I had scheduled my pick-up. If I would have known it was in Gypsum I would have made other arrangements but given the short notice I wasn't able to make other accommodations. The closure of I-70 and the additional 7 hours it took to simply pick up the truck added a lot more stress than was necessary. As I'm sure you can understand, it's stressful enough moving.
I had extreme trouble checking out the truck. It is very difficult to go through the verification as early as I was there, and I should not have had to gone through this given my positive history and billing terms with UHAUL. The rental was also missing the dollies I requested, so this made my moving experience cumbersome, damage-prone, and extremely frustrating.
