Someone should be on the premises for returns, I am sure someone is there to take the money. Got an answering machine when I called, sign on door saying, "out on a call". If my trailer had been any larger, I would not have been able to get it off my truck. Just not use to that kind of treatment, I have rented many trailers from Uhaul.

I reserved a 10' truck on Monday July 22 (#93845121) one way from San Marcos Texas to Houston Texas for about $140+. Friday July 26 U-Haul called me that 10' is not available !!!! Why I don.t know I had confirmation. U-Haul offered a 26' truck instead of 10'; I said can not drive 26', finally U-Haul found a 15' truck in Lockhart Texas, with the same price and discount for extra millage from Lockhart to San Marcos, 11:00 AM. I entered the U-Haul office in Lockhart about 10:30. The U-Haul reception said they do not have 15' available; when I said I have reservation from a week ago, she said reservation with U-Haul does not guaranty that we have truck available, we are not U-Haul, we are family business here and we are U-Haul contractor. If you need a truck we have a 10' truck available. I said OK I want it. She said there are 2 10' trucks on the yard, one of them has battery problem and is in front of the other one; the maintenance has to fix it move it then the other good one will be available for you. I said lets do that. After about one hour she said it is ready, actually it was 15' truck not 10'. she said I have to pay $207, I asked why, my reservation was $140, she said we do not care for your reservation, this is our price here, if you don't want it we give it to someone else, I called several times to U-Haul, finally she changed all she said before and said I added $58 insurance to that, that's why it is $207. After about hour and half arguing finally I got the truck, I was late for the move the furniture. I used U-Haul week before that, from Austin Texas to Houston one way. it was excellent service; but this time the Lockhart office working on their own way. I do not reserve any truck from that location.

We had travel 1 hour out of our way from Childress, TX to Altus, OK to get a truck on short notice after my grandmother passed away. No one withing a 30 mile radius was open AND had the size truck we needed. We then had to load it, drive 7 hours then unload it in Lockhart, TX. We were 30 minutes late turning the truck in and we're then charged a whole extra day for those 30 minutes. That is ridiculous!! The lady in Altus, OK went out of her way to help us in our time of need and I feel like these guys in Lockhart, TX took advantage of us in our time of mourning. I will never do business with this place and would never think of recommending them to my worst enemy.

My sister returned 26’ truck early and refueled truck with more than double what she used to drive 35.8 miles. A truck which uhaul boasts gets 10 mpg. Yet I, her benefactor, was charged $50.63 for 13.5 gallons used plus a $30 fuel fee for not replacing the gas...which she did and has receipt. After contacting JR Auto, they told me to contact UHaul who told me to contact JR Auto. The problem here, is that the math is simple yet no one can or us willing to explain how a 35.8 mile trip burned 13.5 gallons. A 100 extra miles, NOT driven. “Please Lucy, s’plain it to me?” Not only 100 miles obvious discrepancy, there was an additional 4.6 gallons above and beyond pick up fuel quantity, that’s not even considered.

I don’t think I’ll ever use uhaul again. It’s been awful with them. In the end, I was told by one person over the phone to ask for her the day I showed up to drop it off. She was not there and she told me she would be. The people were looking at the wrong account telling us we owed them gas and money. We had to call the gentleman from the pick up location to confirm our account in the fact that we did not owe them anything. At the end when they finally took our keys, they told us we owed $900. When we paid $1500 when we picked it up. They didn’t even close our account because they had no idea what they were doing. I had to call uhaul and get everything situated with them. We also picked up a share load transfer trailer as a favor for uhaul on our way back to town and got that turned in even though the employees had no idea about it. A week later I get an email saying we still owe money for going 175 miles over our original limit when we got the truck, our contract was solid before the lady contacted us to ask us to pick it up for them, so even though we went states over to pick something up for uhaul, they don’t seem to care and just want money. Service has been awful and no one seems how to know to keep up with anything.

I'm in your system. I rent the motorcycle trailer 4 or 5 times a year for several years. The bull I had to go through made me decide to go buy a trailer for myself. I had to hook up the trailer myself and check the lights. When I returned i had to unhook and go in and get my money from the deposit i was charged. They never even inspected the trailer.
