Place was open according to google but I still had to pay a closed fee for returning it when not open
nicholas herrickHorrible experience! This location was over an hour away from the location we requested (and received an email confirmation ) on the U-HAUL website. The vehicle was not ready for us to safely drive away in when we arrived. We had to remove snow from the vehicle and ice from the windshield. The tires were not adequate for the weather. Making for a dangerous ride to our destination. There was an incident that happened and the person who assisted us was accusatory, when unable to fix the situation he called a towing company to come fix it. Could have called local police department and they would have done it for free. Instead we had to pay an additional $110 before we even left the parking lot!! We reached out to U HAUL. A representative called us back and said"technically you signed the paperwork and had the key in your possession so technically you were responsible for it. When in fact "technically" if they had done their job and had the vehicle ready for us , none of this would've happened!! We were not refunded the full amount of the $110!! If they were not at fault they would not have refunded any at all!! Sad that a respectable company is not willing to make it right.
Ronald ScholtzMike is classic Vermont… he also knows the equipment well.. I have rented numerous times from here and also dropped one way rentals here frequently. Derby Vt location boycotts trailers so this is the best and most reliable U-haul in the Newport VT area.

larry chaseWe've dropped off here before but it was always late/after hours. This time we got to meet Michael. He was EXTREMELY helpful. Pointed out where to leave it, helped guide me into the spot. Helped unhitch us. Pleasant chat when dropping off - very friendly and welcoming. Glad to be moving to this area. Again, would definitely recommend this location.

Roxanne AdjutantNo one explained that there would be a charge for After Hours drop off. I've never had this charge before. Also, there is no cell access at this location, so it took over 1/r hour to be able to check the trailer in.
Robert McCrackenSomeone was inside but wouldn't answer the door due to loud music playing inside. I went thru the app & followed drop off instructions and put rental agreement into your box . I did take pictures of the trailer so that there would be time stamped documentation as to drop off time which I did early (1:30 pm Saturday July 29, 2023).
philip traficantiUsed this location as a return site. Both times the shop was closed so there was no interaction with staff other than a phone call. Easy enough to use - other pieces of equipment were lined up so just parked my return next to the others and left my contract in the drop box.
David WestThe local pickup places were great. However, the uhaul online reservation system was not up to date and there was very limited cell service at the pickup site. The uhaul website should have forced me check-in online to save time.

Art HoldenThe guy tried to charge us for folding blankets (again) because a few fell over when in transit. The majority of all the blankets were still in the original bag not even opened (we only used a couple). He had my wife come and fold them so they didn't charge us. The other uhaul location I went to in Vermont last year was 1000xs nicer and I even offered to help them with a few things while there since they were so nice.
Mary AchesonHow about having equipment at the contracted location? Maybe giving more than a days notice of the location change? Having to drive an extra almost 200 miles (round trip) to get a trailer when you have a moving deadline is not reasonable.

Thomas MulycaYou should actually charge people what you say and your trucks shouldn’t say save $25 if you clean out the truck and sweep it if it’s not true you guys charged me $75 then a day later you bumped it up to $89 for me going 40 miles in a 15 foot box truck even after I filled the truck up and cleaned it plus the shop owner wasn’t even available for me to tell him I did everything I was supposed to I spent over $120 to use a truck that was bigger then I asked for to go 40 mile round trip next time I’m just gonna buy my own truck I’m very disappointed

Nicole DewingThe truck we picked up was out of alignment, the steering wheel had to be turn half way to the left just to drive in a straight line. When you pay 2500$ for a truck to move 19hrs away, you would expect tgat truck to have been maintenanced. The truck was clean, but maintenance was lacking.

BRAD GRIGGSThe place is in an area that doesn't have cell service so you can't drop the unit of via cell phone. I returned the vehicle on the same day after business hours and they charged me a fee for returning the truck after hours of $20. I called uhaul as soon as I was able to get cell service and notified corporate that I had returned the truck to this location and explained the situation about the lack of cell service and the customer service rep annotated the situation in my contract. When I called to inquire why I was being charged a late return fee, uhaul refunded the $20 charge. This was greatly appreciated and I will use uhaul again for my truck rental needs. Merci.
