The key box wouldn't open and had to call for assistance. Truck had next to no fuel upon pickup. Truck was filthy. The building location where the trucks are kept appears to be condemned, and I'm fairly certain there was a man selling drugs out of another truck parked in front of the building. Worst U-Haul experience I've ever had, and will likely not be returning as a customer.

BETTINA MADDOXThis location was in the ghetto of Chicago. There was no trace of a U-Haul truck, or signage anywhere. Ended up taking it to a different location. Luckily a man at the other location was helpful. I was talking to customer service when he approached my vehicle and help me. That was not a good place to send someone to drop off a truck.
Danielle nagyOffice was delayed 45 mins getting the key for my truck. I sat outside the truck waiting for the mechanic to get a call back about where the key was. Truck was filthy also, water in the cup holders and the chairs had stains. The back loading area of the truck was covered in dirt and the outside of the van looked like it was driven through mud. Multiple dents and scratches on the van. The mileage was off also, however I failed to check it before logging through this app b/c I made the assumption once done checking in, there would be a code for the lock box. I only drove 12 miles total. Between my old apartment and the new one.
Jeremy OnealI booked a truck in advance for my allotted move in time and pulled up to get the truck I reserved and the truck wasn't available. I waited for 20 min and called the 1-800 number and they had to send me to another location where I waited another 30 min. It wasn't very professional. I was told a voucher got put in for two $50 credits to my card for a total of $100 being compensated to me.
Rae WeatherspoonLocation too far and was switched last minute, the person before me didn’t return the truck and i had to downgrade two sizes to a van, the van had less than a quarter tank of gas and extremely dirty.
Angelina CilellaMake sure rental is prepared for the renter. Everything in life is about impression, 1st impression is a lasting impression. Van was filthy inside and out, previous trash left in truck, outlets did not work, no windshield solution, and of course gas tank was on E. You require customers to sign a contract agreeing to many terms and conditions, specifically cleaning of the rental. However, the customer nor owner is being held accountable. It was a very poor experience.

Albert MeltonWell my reservation was to pick up the cargo van from 215 S. Western Ave in chicago at 10am. When I called to double check on the address, someone picked up the phone and told me that they not open till 11 or 11:30am and I needed to catch a flight later in the day because I'm moving. 11:30am came around and the guy didn't even bother picking up the phone and he really put me in a bad situation where I missed my flight because I now had to go to another uhual place to get a truck. Just terrible and unprofessional.

Called in the morning to ask them to check the truck and trailer. Finally went by there in the late afternoon since they still hadn't done it. Took half an hour to get it checked in.

Madeline StarkThe inside of the truck was dirty. I reserved an appliance dolly and furniture pads. Without any prior notification, they just mentioned that they do not have any of these equipments when I went to pick up the truck. Our move was incredibly more difficult because of this. I selected mobile pick-up which never got enabled and had to wait until their office was opened.
Mobashir SadatThe only issue is that I selected to pick up the van remotely but there wasn't one assigned to me. I had to go in. If they were closed, I wouldn't have been able to access the van. Other than that, the experience was fine.

Horace WaltersThe location was okay. The problem that we had was with getting the furniture pads and the dolly that we had reserved well in advance. We went to three different locations and nobody had these. Also, our trucks pick-up location changed twice. Moving is challenging enough without having to worry about where to pick our truck up the day before and then not having the equipment that we reserved. We will likely not be using U-Haul in the future.
Eric KyleI got there and attempted mobile check in. While I was checking the truck that I was assigned to was already given to another customer. After going through a hassle to get another truck, the truck I was given had 0 gas and was already on empty. Never again.

Arjun VellayappanThis location is in one of the WORST parts of town. I specifically did NOT choose this location when booking online. When I recieved the call back that evening, "all locations except this one" were out of 20ft trucks. Go figure. Upon arrival to this sketch "UHaul" provider, there were several people in the middle of the street in front of the location soliciting folks to buy drugs and 2 other men approached my vehicle asking for money. I did the online check-in and tried to enter the truck using the app - apparently this location doesn't have this service. SO WHY GIVE THE OPTION FOR PHONE CHECK IN?! The UHaul vehicle was very badly dented on the exterior, the keys did not have a key for the Matlock on the truck door, the fuel tank was on E (dash showed 26 miles left to empty), the acceleration on the truck was extremely slow (RPM's exceedingly high with every acceleration to get going no matter how slow you pressed the pedal) and when I called UHaul customer service I waited over an HOUR on hold, called back to request a call-back to me, waited another 45 minutes before giving up. Uhaul is a terrible truck service !!!!

Eddie CarterFrom beginning to end. I understand this UHAUL is based inside some sort of auto shop/car wash but the actual part servicing UHAUL customers looked as if I had walked into a bedroom. I felt completely uncomfortable and thought that was extremely unprofessional. Neither of the employees had proper uniform, just a sweater and jogging pants that were rather revealing. They had the show "Cheaters" on the screen and could barely process me without constantly watching the television. I was appalled at the unprofessionalism. Usually, when picking up a rental, I receive a paper copy of my receipt with the rental's information and an offer for a "walk around" so I, individually, or I and an employee could check for a discuss any damages to the vehicle. That did not happen. The employee, who never shared his name, left the keys in the ignition running while I was still inside the store even after having asked for the keys to simply be handed to me. I felt this was the most unprofessional and uncomfortable experience at a UHAUL rental site. I will never return, nor will I recommend anyone to this location. I would rate zero stars if possible.
Analeza WalkerI reserved a truck in a different location closer by my and it changed without notice like an email, text or call. When I opened the app to check the information to pick up the truck literally 15min before I found out it changed for another location that is in a part of the town that I'm not familiar with and it can be dangerous for someone that is not from Chicago, like me. It was a little frustrating because the app wasn't working well and I had to call costume service, but in the end I got the truck. Next time I'll double check the location and make sure it doesn't change the pick up and drop off.
