Mike FWhen driving to pick up the truck, we ran into construction on the highway that delayed us by an hour, we phoned ahead, and they accommodated our delay. We received a thorough briefing of the use of the truck, and timely response back after its return. The location has a large yard that makes parking a large truck straightforward, and pulling it off the lot and onto the highway a breeze (much easier than an in-town or in-city location). There is a gas station on the site as well, making topping up the tank easy as well. The only thing that I can think of that would make it a better experience is that we had difficulty driving the truck up a slope when loading, and not sure why is slipped as much as it did -- tires? perhaps that is worth checking.

FRED PThe U-ahaul I used had a broken cable for the door which made it extremely hard to open and close. It also had a clicking sound when turned on which made you feel you were going to break down any moment. The location itself was very small, and had many people coming in and out which left zero privacy and had many people talking over you to the person helping you which made you not even the priority while trying to rent your Uhaul. Very uncomfortable situation all around.

Richard RThe location and the staff there were great. It was NOT great that we had to take a truck that was much larger than what we had reserved. It was NOT great that we were unable to book a truck in the location where we needed it and had to drive two extra hours (at the gouging rate of $.89 per km plus gas). I also believe that U-Haul could have offered us a more cost effective solution. All we wanted to do is transport our small amount of furniture to Dartmouth for shipping and we had to pay U-Haul over $700. Again, this is not the fault of those at the pickup location.

Brandi BUhaul itself could do more to offer better milage rates for people making longer trips like I did (2 200 miles). The people at this location however are exceptional, they went above and beyond to help make my experience the best that they could. If I ever need to rent a uhaul vehicle in Antigonish again I will go to this location 100 % hands down, they are the best.
Frederick LThe truck smelt sour when I picked it up from the bottle depot in Antigonish, and had to drive it two hours in the stench back to Cape Breton. I cleaned the vehicle far better than what I received it and was still charged a cleaning fee. Then, I rush the entire time to make sure I get the truck back on time and I get a late fee. I was assured by the owner that the time was clocked and he pointed to a camera and said he didn't need any paperwork, this was 3pm in the afternoon… the paperwork says I dropped it off the next day around 10am and got charged a late fee. So in total, I was charged an extra $70 plus tax for two things that I absolutely made sure I wouldn't get charged for. This is extremely unacceptable.
steven rI and the owner helped me book the two trucks I needed two and half weeks in advance of needing them, but only one truck made it to the dealership. I got a call the day before to tell me to go 45 mins away to pick up the second one. I was lucky as one of my drivers was coming from away and could stop in to get it. Uhaul did give me a credit for the inconvenience which I truly appreciated but I thought with weeks notice both could have arrived at my pickup location. This slight inconvenience had nothing to do with MacMillians location and they were excellent and very helpful.

Darren DI booked a truck online at a location that was near to me and my destination. I then received a call saying there were no trucks available at that location and I would have to go pick up a truck at a different location, about 30-40 miles away. When I said there were plenty of trucks at that location, as I drive by there everyday, I was told corporate was moving those truck and would not be available. I was offered a small discount on mileage but it more than doubled my fuel cost and added about 2 hours to an already long day. Anyways, on moving day I had to drive by my local u-haul dealer. There were 5 trucks there all day and still there the next day too. Thanks for making my already long, expensive and stressful day even longer, more stressful and costlier. I hope I never have to rent again because the customer service was horrible. In saying that, the place I did get the truck from was great. Wasn't his fault that this happened.

Terry WTried the online service to be more efficient. Online service was a joke. Switched to in store pick up. Slightly faster, though first uhaul provided had extensive amounts of water in the back. Second one provided had a lesser amount and representative mopped out for us. Pick up took over an hour to complete.

Doug JWhen we picked up the van, we were told to top gas up to 1/4 tank which we did. We only drove 47 miles and put $40 gas before we returned it. Both my husband and son checked gauge and it was 1/4 tank. After van was returned, we had a call from where we dropped off the van saying it wasn't at 1/4 tank and that we would be charged an addition $31 dollars. So that's $70 in gas for 47miles. This doesn't make sense. Someone made a mistake. In the future, owner should check gas gauge with client so there are no discrepancies.

Dennis DDifficult to rate on a scale because I don't have prior experience with similar , small-town UHaul businesses to compare with. But what I know for sure is that the depo staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciated that. Also, the central booking service for the zone was also friendly and helpful on the phone. I did notice, though, that there can be a time lag between when a customer makes a pickup time change via call to central office and when the physical depot with the trucks is aware of the change. Apparently this is because the depot manager needs to log in on computer to see updates from UHaul scheduling, but depot can be very busy with customers on site so may not be able to log in to UHAUL frequently during the day. So I suggest that zone scheduling office follow up any schedule changes (on computer) with a phone call or Text message to depot manager to make them aware of the change quickly, especially if it concerns a time change on that particular day. In my case , luckily, no problem arose from the depot manager not yet being informed that I was picking up vehicle earlier than originally booked. But I can imagine some scenarios where time lags in information updates for rentals could be very problematic. One thing I found challenging about the truck itself is that there was no way to connect mobile phone to vehicle ( by cord or wirelessly) to engage hands-free phone use while driving. For people who need to communicate with other vehicles involved in a long-distance move, in real time, capacity for hands-free phone use is VERY important, especially when route or traffic gives few opportunities to pull over to stop and receive/make a call. Anyway, am very glad UHaul exists. I think it is a very useful option for many people and certainly came through for me when I needed it.
