Bottom line: I have very nice things to say about my experience with U-haul but not so nice things to say about the person who rented me the vehicle. Here are the details of my encounter: I used the 800 number to rent the vehicle. On the day of pickup, the gentleman who rented me the vehicle was surprised that I was there; he had no idea that the vehicle had been rented. He stated that he was having issues with the internet, and he seemed annoyed/flustered. He worked through the online issues with U-haul customer support, and then gave me a quote for the total dollar amount of what I would owe at the time of drop-off. When I asked about the breakdown of the total, he didn’t give me any details, but he did “snap” that it was just an estimate, and he did not provide any details. Once again, he seemed annoyed/flustered, but this time it was because I had asked him a question. I was very stressed and upset at that point, because I felt like I had just been yelled at for asking a question about my potential charges. After working through this internet and dudes with U-haul customer support, he finally gave me the key to the vehicle and told me where to drop the vehicle off when it was time to return it. Then he walked away not really allowing me to ask any questions about the vehicle, or refueling charges, etc. I was still stressed from my encounter with the gentleman who rented me the vehicle, so I sat in the vehicle for a few minutes trying to get myself calmed down. During that time, the representative from U-haul who helped with the technical support issues called me to say he had heard the last exchange between me and the gentleman who rented me the vehicle. The U-haul person was very kind and concerned about the fact that he heard me say that I was upset/stressed while I was dealing with the gentleman who rented me the vehicle. I immediately began to calm down a bit simply because the U-haul person on the phone was concerned enough to call to check on me; in my mind, it validated that I hadn’t imagined the gentleman who rented me the vehicle being “curt” with me and not answering my questions. To sum it up, my experience with U-haul was very positive, but my experience at the pick-up/drop-off location was as not positive at all. In fact it was quite upsetting.

Unfortunately for me I assumed it would be clean and initialed indicating that, only to discover once I got home that the back was dirty and I needed to sweep it out. Also disappointed that there was only 3/8 tank of gas to begin with.

I had 2 pick-up locations: U-Haul Rev it Up in Sparta NJ and U-Haul DeBoer's Auto in Hamburg, NJ. Both U-Haul reps at both locations were very helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend either one of these locations.

When I rent the truck, I always take a picture before and after the trip. When I rent the van, I had a full tank, when I returned it, it was full as well, as I filled it up. I drove only 13 miles. Nevertheless, I was charged for two gallons of gas. If the company wants to see the proof, please let me know. I still have those pictures.

The only problem was UHAUL itself. I had to physically go to this location to rent the truck since UHAUL kept changing my reservation. After physically going down there they changed it again the day before. I spent hours on the phone with them which was just a HUGE waste of time. They need to update the systems for reservations.

The staff at Rev it up was wonderful. They were very helpful and accommodating. The truck was new and rode well. However, it was not very clean. We were loading furniture and had to clean the back of the van out.

This survey doesn’t ask about the Uhaul app - I researched and downloaded the app - I filled out and even made time changes to my reservation using the app. However, at no time did the app indicate my phone would not be able to be utilized for pick up, I have an Apple I phone 6 - and the Apple Uhaul app doesn’t allow for locating phone / I have no blocks all my other apps have location allowable whenever app is in use and Uhaul App does not have that option. This would be an excellent app for my area where business often close at five and not open Sundays - so for those people who work we have to take off from work to rent your trucks, which I for one cannot afford - with this App your business becomes significantly more accessible - but only if it works. Took me a full hour with representives over the phone to rent this van - it was very frustrating.

Rev it up did great. Uhaul sucks. Your customer service is horrible. I was lied to by the customer service agent and ended up being charged for days I thought were given for free. I will never use Uhaul or recommend it to anyone ever. Worst experience ever
