This location has minimal customer service. I rent a U-Haul van once a month and the location that I usually rent from - which is literally right down the street at the 'U-Haul Store (which is excellent!!!) apparently was overbooked and so my order was forwarded to this particular location at Smith Rent A Car. When I arrived, the office was closing and I was instructed by leaving staff to use the QR code check-out system. This system has some 'bugs' and one of them is that you are unable to adjust the YEAR of your license and birth without changing it BEFORE you enter the month and day - which it is not formatted to do automatically. Not intuitive. VERY CUMBERSOME! Additionally, the staff at this location DID NOT READ MY REQUEST. AND I ALSO CALLED and spoke to staff at this location IN THE DAYS prior to my rental pickup TO MAKE SURE THAT I HAD A VAN WITH A SLIDING SIDE DOOR, however when I finally checked myself out through the QR system, FOUND THAT THE SIDE DOORS WERE HINGED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS AN AVAILABLE VAN DIRECTLY BEHIND MY RENTAL WITH A SLIDING DOOR clearly available. Additionally, the lockbox key checkout system at this location did NOT tell me which box the key was in so I HAD TO ATTEMPT TO OPEN 5 BOXES BEFORE THE ONE WITH MY KEY IN IT FINALLY OPENED - lucky box #6! I would like to recognize 'Chris', an employee of this location who appeared and was closing up and he stayed to assure that I was all set and offered advice to ASK FOR A 'RAM' brand van to assure I received a sliding side door if I should ever rent from this location again... WHICH FRANKLY, I prefer not to.

MARTIN SMy feedback is not for the location but for Ihaul the company. Nothing about my reservation was honored with integrity: U-Haul changed the truck size, the pick up location, the drop off location. They did not have the dolly I reserved. And it took about 15 phone calls to complete the process. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone. Please improve your algorithm so that the reservation can be accurate.

GARY CDespite filling fuel level above where it was when we picked up the van, we were charged $9,38 for fuel. The receipt was sent from a "noreply" email, so I could not discuss this situation with Smiths Rent a Car in Santa Rosa CA. Staff wasn't very friendly.

ALLISON MTalk to your customers and listen to what they say. They billed me before even talking to me I wanted to pay cash for the truck I even told them that when i picked up the truck not to charge it on the card and they did it anyway the person who reserved the card was not happy about it. Then I got charged for blankets and a hand truck and I didn't even have it or asked for it and they didn't believe me they accused me of stealing it i made them look on the camera and wouldn't leave the store till they had proof and when they did they didn't even have the nerve to apologize to me. I will never go back to uhaul again

TIBERIO PI was charged for using 10 gallons of gas when I was only charged for driving one mile and never let the truck idle for more than 30 seconds. I was scammed and robbed during one of the hardest times in my life.

PETER RWe were given a broken uhaul truck for a cross state trip. Now this location won't reach out for a refund that is most definitely deserved. When a customer asks if the noise the truck is making is normal, just get them a new truck. Nobody should be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a broken down truck.
alexis fIt started when I picked up the U-Haul van.it was out of gas but on the paperwork it said it had a quarter tank not true.when I went to the gas station the van was chugging like it was totally empty also the red gas light had been on when I first started it.then it got really hot and I thought I would turn on the AC it didn’t work at all.not what I expected in 97degree temperature in concord.other than that it got the job done.
Brian KThe location was fine, and the gentleman working was very nice, helping as much as he was able. It was the U-Haul office which I dealt with on the phone that was awful. They called the day before to tell me my equipment was not available without driving an hour, so I downsized the truck I rented to get the essentials down and planned on flying back for the rest (I had an appointment I could not miss). Then, U-Haul charged me the same amount for the smaller truck as the larger truck despite the fact that when I booked the truck initially the smaller one would have been several hundred dollars cheaper. After about 30 minutes on the phone they lowered the price an extremely small amount, almost negligible. I had no choice but to rent as it was the day before my move. Shady business practices. Also very convenient that I'm reviewing a location for pickup and not U-Haul services in general. Seems like they want to shift the burden. I'll reiterate the location was great. U-Haul however screwed me over.

TRACY GSmiths Rentals is great, but I am displeased with U-Haul for making me drive 20 miles away from the original location I reserved pick up for the van (made six months prior). It cost me a significantly more in time and expense to do so.
Vince Dmy reservation was moved without notification, the truck had a hard time starting, i picked it up with the tank empty, they left the light on in the truck so the battery died the next morning. i had to call and get the battery replaced which caused schedule to run behind and unable to make original drop off time and i had to move the drop off time. when i went to drop off the truck there was no where to leave it and when i tried checking out online, it kept kicking me off.
Katie HOutstanding attention and equipment!!! This place is excellent for folks not used to using trailers, trucks, RVs and they do speak English and Espanol. Paperwork is minimum and service maximum!

Alison HEverything was good slexcept uhaul in Vallejo tries to charge me 3200 but my card declined it due to not enough fund. And I rented from u haul in Santa Rosa so it's weird that a Vallejo would be fraudulently charging me dosent make me feel like my private information was safe at all. If I had that much money they would have just taken it.

Peter RWhen I picked up the truck it had less than 1/4 tank of gas. The truck alarmist broke down in the middle of the move. It was overheating needed coolant, and was leaking gas my friend had to pull over and get coolant. This made the move late and I was still asked to get gas and the guys at the counter were not helpful at all. We did get a credit for the coolant purchased but I expect more of a discount for our trouble. You should not be renting faulty trucks!
Lisa HThe employee checking me in was very short and brisk with me, and came across as annoyed that I had questions. I do not know her name because she didn't share it. She stated "your Van's the only one out there", and then left the office. I'm guessing she's not a morning person, but she was my first contact. The checkout process of me going over Van on my own and doing on line verification after I signed forms was not helpful. The Van had the "change oil soon" indicator on dash as soon as I turned it on. The van smelled like old dog and urine, and there was dog hairs on passenger seat, and in back. Return process smoother, and the employee at the desk was kind, and didn't come across as annoyed that he was working. Vehicle handled alright for what it is...a commercial van. It squeaked a lot, and was very bumpy on gravel road.
Mary SWhen a customer walks through the doors of any business, their initial expectation is exceptional customer service. Unfortunately, this establishment falls far short in that regard. Moreover, when a customer invests $150 or more in renting one of their vehicles, the least they can expect is a clean, fully functioning vehicle. It's beyond frustrating to knowingly receive a dirty truck with operational issues, particularly when embarking on a long-distance journey. I strongly encourage the owner, manager, and employees to explore alternative options to witness how a well-managed establishment should operate. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this place to anyone else.

We had to come back twice and call you all our self and do everything on the phone so took us over an hour to get the truck and then we didn't even get the right truck and then I had to call again because there was no gas in the truck mileage is off, so it's not a very good experience. Definitely not for this location.

Donald WThey gave me a truck with a tire with a slow leak and when I returned it they charged me for the tire. I also had the truck for two days and they charged me for three days. I recommend that no one uses this location.

Raymond STerrible attitudes and customer service of the counter people, especially the lady. I reserved a pickup 4 days in advance, showed up at my appointment time and they had no pickup trucks. She tried to send me down the street without even calling them to see if they had one. I told her just to give me a van. She discs. I took pictures of odometer it had 93 miles on it. When I got back I note iced my paper said 64 miles out. They would not correct this and charged me $24,92 for miles I didn't use. When I got van gas's tank was empty, I put 1/2 tank in, when I got back they charged me $6,22 for a gallon of gas even though I brought it back with more gas than when I left. They would not correct this. I will never go here again and I will tell everyone I know to not go there
