This was absolutely the worst moving truck rental experience I have ever had. The newer truck we were promised when making our reservation was not available on the day of our move. As there was not much else, we could do, we accepted the 14-year-old truck we were provided, but the car hauler at the location was faulty. After the truck was loaded, we had to drive across the city to another depot to get the car hauler and load the car on it. On the drive back home the engine light on the truck turned on so I called U-Haul Help. I was directed to a U-Haul maintenance facility. The mechanic diagnosed a faulty oxygen sensor but was not able to replace it. I told him that the truck used a lot of fuel for the drive across the city. He assured me that it was because the truck was an older model but was safe to drive the 4 000 Km move across the country with the engine light on. We drove around 200 Km and had to refuel at an outrages cost of $250: a cost of more than a $1/KM. When we tried to start the truck, it would not do so as the battery was totally dead. After contacting U-Haul Help again, they dispatched a service truck. The driver was not able to start it until I provided the jumper cables. When I looked at the engine, I noticed that the air intake was not properly connected to the hood of the truck. Why did the mechanic at the maintenance facility not notice it? I readjusted it so it was properly connected to fixed it. We continued our journey, and the engine light was no longer on and noticed a modest improvement in the fuel consumption. We contacted U-Haul Help again regarding the battery issue, and they referred us to anther service provider further up the highway where a new battery was installed. We continued our trip across the country with no more problems starting the truck. It is unconscionable for U-Haul to have rented a 14-year-old poorly maintained vehicle for a 4 000 Km trip across the country. A newer vehicle would have avoided our delays and the fuel consumption would have been more reasonable. The old vehicle also had old technology head lights which made nighttime driving difficult and less safe. On one of the many conversations with U-Haul help I was promised compensation for the extraordinary initial fuel consumption which I have not yet received. After such a negative and costly experience, we will never use U-Haul again nor recommend that anyone else do so. Regrettably, Andy LoscherANDY L.

The U-Haul representative was not at the location when I went to return the truck. Another employee of the store said that he was out running errands. That employee called the rep who said he would be back in 15 mins. He finally arrived after we waited for 45 mins. He did not apologize for being late and was actually incredibly rude despite us being very understanding about his tardiness. After beginning the process he asked if I had moving blankets, which I did (2 dozen). After responding yes, he muffled the word "fuck" and then told me "that is the last thing I want". He then told me that I had to get the moving blankets from the truck and bring them in for him. Afterwards he told me he would have refused my service/return if he knew that I had moving blankets because he did not want to deal with re-packaging them and did not have the space. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. This employee was berating us for using U-Haul and the extra perks (blankets). We would never go to this location again and will probably avoid U-Haul after this permanently.Brian B.

Very helpful at this location . I originally reserved a 5'x8' covered trailer 8 weeks prior to going to cottage and was called the evening before my pick up date to say it was not available because damaged and was getting repaired from Forest Glade location that is 3 km from my house . The alternative option was to drive over 50 km each way to get this larger 6'x12' covered trailer so was left with no choice but to accept this one or none . Trailer was clean and worked good but was a bit large for my vehicle to pull . Was given $50 discount for this option . Would have gladly paid the $50 and been much happier if got what I reserved 2 months in advance . This was 4 th year I reserved trailer from Forest Glade location and 2 Nd time reservation was screwed up . Would prefer better than 50/50 chance at getting trailer I reserve correctly in the future .TODDG C.

The store staff was ignorant and unhelpful, the truck had garbage in it and the windshield was dirty on the inside. The store staff did not go over the contents of the contract, and over charged me for distance as well as gas. 100 % not impressed.Faye M.

The moving blankets I rented were soiled. I was moving pristine furniture from my parents house that is now much dirtier after using the supplied moving blankets. Also, the instructions on the back to â€œshake the blanketsâ€ and return them to the bag for future use suggests these blankets are not washed between customers.Derek H.

Was at the location for over an hour to reserve as I was booking to pick up a non standard style vehicle. I was at the location for an additional hour to actually pick up the trailer, then waited yet another hour to return it. 3 hours at the rental location seems excessive. The owner or guy who is running the convience store there is incredibly slow at doing his job. On top of that if anyone walks in the store a uhaul customer is second rate and has to wait until the owner is done with his convience store customer. He was very rude about thatRADU C.

The location was welcoming however extremely laborious to process my rental. There was also an issue with rental of a trailer hitch which I was not able to complete even though I was told over the phone when making my purchase that this would be no problem. Secondly, I was supposed to pick up my trailer from the Walker road in Windsor location which they then changed to Amherstburg. I did not receive a a call from the Windsor location either, which they also said I would. They then proceeded to change my drop off location after my pick up. This entire process which should have taken less than an hour took over 4 hours of my time. I spoke with a U-Haul representative on the phone and explained my concerns and was given no answers and no compensation. I feel as though I don't even have to say this but I will NEVER use U-haul services and I will ensure none of my friends of family will either. Absolutely abysmal service.DYLAN R.

Excellent customer service upon the initial phone call and obtaining a registration for car dolly to haul an un-driveable vehicle. Helpful all around. With, locating what we needed, to registration and confirmation as well as all of our questions answered with accuracy. All done with a polite manner and a bit of humor, which goes a long way in my book. Given, the mishaps I had with the universe in General, from running out of gas, to doing everything during a blizzard. The highlight of everything was U-Haul customer service and rental. Every concern I had was answered with confidence and ease, essentially placing me within that mindset, that everything else was just humorous instead of a frustration. Had the results been different (ie, demanding the dolly be returned the same night), I think this review would have a different ending. Thankfully, that wasn't the case and I'm grateful for their kind assurance, humor and confidence which ultimately affected the outcome of my own mood. Upon drop off; it was just as delightful and much appreciated. 5 stars Highly recommended.jennifer C.

I completed everything on line. Only to arrive to someone who would not take my confirmation number...soooo, I very slowly had to re-do, all of the information. It was painfully slow. Also, I not only did not get the two dollies I needed, I was charged over fifty dollars more than what I was to be charged online, with the dollies. Worst business I have ever dealt with! Asked the customer service agent at location NOT TO CLOSE OUT THE CONTRACT because there was an issue. While I was on hold with your awful customer service hotline he closed out the contract anyway and I was over charged automatically on my credit card. Re-train the owner. I did the online checkin and confirmation process, including sending pictures of my license for a "quick" experience at checkout .... was at thew location for 50 minutes dealing with the owner of the location. I topped up the fuel over the required 3/4 tank and ended up being #3,93 for additional mileage... not a big deal but really? Aside from that, all was perfect. Your Econoline U Haul can sure feels like it has too much steering play. Maybe worn linkage, tie rod end.....Terrance S.

I did not request to pick up the truck from this location considering it is 30 minutes away from where I live. This added an hour of driving to my day when I already had 4 hours of driving to do. If I wanted to pick up the truck from this location, I would have requested to pick up the truck from this location originally. It's unfortunate that the customer has to do the running around for the company to get their order when they most likely have a very busy day of moving ahead of them. The location also didn't have my order in their system which added more time to my day that wasn't focused on moving my stuff.Dallas D.
