They gave a truck with 1/4 tank of gas. I told them can I have one with full of gas and been told only one left. When I found out no gas left in the truck, went back in store talked to the guy and waiting for 15' and got truck with full of gas. Overall I was not happy with the service I got due to let me wait too long.CUONG N.

The "estimated gallons needed" gas chart did not list any amount as we were told it would. We were told the MPG for the truck we rented was 5 MPG and that ended up being exceedingly low. We filled with what should have been an appropriate number of gallons based on that BAD information and ended up returning it with half a tank more than we picked it up with - at and expense of 40 $+ to us.MICHAEL K.

All U-Haul customers should understand one thing: it makes no difference if you reserve an accessory like an appliance dolly ahead of time. If the location from which you are picking up the truck doesn't have one on hand at the time you arrive, you simply don't get one. And some locations don't ever have a particular type of accessory. This was the case for a truck we had rented from a different U-Haul location earlier in the week -- they apparently never have furniture dollies despite the website allowing you to reserve them at that location. U-Haul does not replenish accessory supplies at third-party locations. If an accessory happens to come in on a truck coming from some other location, then great, they will have it until someone takes it and returns it to a different location. The website makes it seem like the sky's the limit -- you can have whatever you need. But that isn't the case at all, at least with these third-party locations. What they have available at the time you arrive is the bottom line. The folks at this store were very nice and helpful, but U-Haul has an idiotic system where if you reserve a truck for a time that's outside of the store's usual business hours, you might not be able to actually get your truck. Like an hour before our scheduled pick-up time I got a call from U-Haul central telling me that they weren't sure -- yes, they weren't sure -- if the location we'd selected had after hours pickup available. How do they not know this? So they asked if I could move up my pickup time by 15 minutes to be within the store's regular business hours just in case. I agreed. Turns out the store DID have after hours pickup as an option but here's the kicker: despite showing up while they were still open, the store employees couldn't process my rental for me. Because my original reservation was for after hours, I HAD to use the website on my phone while standing there in the store with the guy asking me what screen I was on so he could help me through the process. What the heck, U-Haul? The man is standing right there at a computer... why can't he do this for me? This is a dumb system. Between the previous experience we had where the store didn't have the accessories we'd reserved and this experience where apparently high-school level computer programming is beyond U-Haul's IT capabilities, we won't be using U-Haul ever again. I've only ever used U-Haul for moving, but it's time to give a competitor a chance. Can't be any worse.Matthew B.

Horrible service. The truck box was locked and it wouldn't open with the key they gave me. The jerk at the front desk told me it wasn't his problem and that I wouldn't be getting reimbursed or a new truck. Then he hung up me saying he had to deal with customers, as if I wasn't one. I took a picture of the fuel gauge when I got in the vehicle and I added gas equivalent to that before I returned it - I stopped and got gas just down the street before I return the truck and I know I put the same amount in that was in it when I leftand they still charged me 72 $for fuel for 12 gallons at 7 $/gal. I made sure the gauge was at the same level when I returned it so I called BS and I will be calling your location tomorrowJennifer S.

Hello All, I'm being over charged for turning in the truck late. This is incorrect because the truck was turned in on time and the keys were dropped in the box. I have spoken to "Mel" at the Modesto location and she confirmed the truck was there when she arrived in the morning. This is the third time I'm taking time out of my work schedule to resolve this matter. Please credit the over charges back to my card. Merci.ANGELICA B.
I reserved a truck for this location, on arrival at said pickup time representative advise me my truck was not there. Rep contacted traffics of issue and then confirmed a truck at another location in Rancho Cordova. Keep in mine my wife and I worked all day and chose Elk Grove location because it's close to our home this is the second time we now have to run around rush hour traffic to acquire a truck. We then arrive in Rancho Cordova and once again no truck was ready for pick up. Representative at this location said he would rent us a 10 foot truck that was 560,00 $ one way and that was with 100 dollar discount which was more cost then the original 15 foot truck I had reserved. To my discuss my wife and I just turned around and walked out. Worse experience and customer service was non existent.ERIC M.

When I dropped off the rental truck I had to bring the hand truck, furniture dolly, and all of the pads into the office without any help from the staff. I don't see why someone couldn't have been a little more helpful and gone out to the truck to ensure that I returned all equipment by inspecting it instead of me hauling it all inside the store.GARY N.

Customer service was very poor your rep is very rude and disrespectful makes very rude snoddy comments when asked questions. This is the second time i rent from this location. I rented a 26 ft its breaks where worn metal to metal sound, as well as in cabin was dirty was told i had blankets and dolly no such items as well as bed was dirty it got my bed dirty we tried sweeping it out before use still soiled furniture. When we told your rep he never acknowledged or apologized . Will be the last time using this location.JUAN H.

I had a terrible experience with Uhaul. When I reserve my Uhaul a week early in Elk Grove. A day before my reservation Uhaul sent me an email stating they have change my time from 8am to 10 am and also the location from Elk Grove to Sacramento. I had to rearrange my time for my move. The day of my move I went to the location only to find out they didn't have my truck. It was very stressful because we had everything planned out. My family and friends was waiting for us to get the truck so we can get our move started. The guy in the counter told us to call Uhaul to check if they can find a truck for us. Luckily the guy in the counter helped us and reserved a truck for us in Elk Grove. The confusing part was why they did change the original time and location and it just resulted in going to the same place where we reserved our truck the first time. We tried to call the call center and talk to a representative but we couldn't get a hold of anyone. The experience of getting a truck for uhaul was the worst ever. This was the first time I used uhaul and it will be the last.NERLITO Y.
The amount of money I had to pay for a truck and trailer, I shouldn't had to drive up to Sacramento and back Stockton. I spent 100 dollars of gas and 4 hours of my time. I didn't even get a reduction in my rental rate or reimbursed for gas I tell everyone to go to Penske or Ryder. The gas gauge is on a 1/4 tank at the time of pickup I called your customer service line to file a complaint. I was bounced around for another 30 minutes.Bryan H.

The truck smelled terrible. Awful. I stated in my request for the rental that I was planning to drive approximately 300 miles and I drove a little bit farther than that. Why did the truck smell so bad? Not sure, but there was a sign on the seat saying the inside had been disinfected. You probably sprayed it with a hazardous toxic poison to kill off whatever you could kill. Guess what? That is bad for the driver and his passengers too. I had to drive with the windows down, which was noisy, in order to get some fresh air. As soon as I put the windows back up the stink in the air was more present. It was a long 300 miles and no, it was not comfortable or even close.MARK G.

The trailer pin was damaged and would not connect to our vehicle. Informed the U-Haul person, but he would not believe it. Blamed it on the vehicle. Spent a long time struggling to fit into the vehicle's connection. Eventually the U-Haul person spoke with a coworker and fortunately that person suggested they just replace the pin wires, which they were able to quickly switch and it easily fit the vehicle. Such an easy solution that the U-Haul person could have resolved more quickly if he listened and didn't argue with us. Wasted about at least 30 minutes unnecessarily.JUSTIN L.

Update your U-HAUL website for checking out a truck. It was a busy Sunday and we had to wait for 2 hours to get our reserved truck. The website kept crashing and the only thing the worker can do is refresh and try again. And there was only 1 person working that day, so we had to wait for him to address other customer returns/ requests.NHAN N.
The guy was extremely rude , and then lied on where my gas level was returned, I took a picture of it to prove i brought it back the same level I got it at. Local company was fine. National company has false advertising. Claimed "19,95 $ for a day". I drove about 10 miles (about 2 hours) and the cost was 72 $++. That is definitely bait and switch. Not happy with your false advertising and will so note when recommending your service.LARRY A.

I dropped off the trailer in early afternoon on 27 September 2021, a day earlier then receipt states. The trailer was disconnected from my hitch and moved into position in their yard. I was not asked my name or checked in/out. I was told by the representative in the yard: "OK you're good. You can go. " When I inquired about a receipt for the check in, I was told that they would do it and a receipt would be sent to my email. The receipt was not received yesterday and I was not able to contact the yard to follow up. The voicemail was full and unable to record a message. Attempted to contact the yard, and same story. They need to make sure to double check the trucks and do a visual with the customer. First they pulled up the wrong truck and had I not checked the gas compared to what was on the paper I would not had caught it. Once I pulled up the page to verify the truck I realized it wasn't even the same picture on the side. I went back in they apologized. Gave me the truck that they were originally supposed to. Got to my house to load truck and it was covered in motor oil and was so slippery we couldn't even use the ramp with out slipping and falling. Tried to call the store and it circled on the automated greeting and then it hung up on me. Staff should definitely pay more attention to detail. And should fully walk the whole truck with customer. Dropped keys off in drop box. Never receipt a confirmation emial with final close out bill. They wanted me to give them the reservation and had to drive back down there to explain the keys were in the drip box. Thought all information could be extracted from the key in the drop box???Darrel G.
The guy that checked me out is a mental stage guy. He was acting weird while all customers and I were in line. Also, this locate required you to park your car off site, on another plaza, across the street, which is very dangerous due to J-walk and might be tow away by different properties management. The guy called threatening me to taken my car off The Box Store's parking lot or he will call a town. I had to stopped everything and went to pick up my car. If they cannot handle parking or have parking issues, they shouldn't allowed to parking with Uhaul. I feel it's unsafe practices. I need Uhaul to look into this matter. ThanksPhuong P.

Our trailer was stolen in Albuquerque along with all our belongings. From speaking with the police this is a common occurrence with Uhaul trailers. Uhaul should provide locking pins as part of a normal rental. As a customer I was preoccupied with moving concerns.CYNTHIA M.
