JAMES FAbsolutely disgusting, there were roaches in my vehicle and the manager berated me. She is extremely unprofessional and I have submitted a formal complaint. Her handling of the situation was disturbing and quite frankly unnecessary. I get better service at a grocery store than I did here. Unacceptable and appalling, do better.

Segundo FRemember to tell the driver about the tow haul button. The first 300 miles was hell. The whole truck vibrated. Regardless this button should NOT be in its location. About every time I put in park or gear my finger turned tow haul on.

Gary SThe truck was not clean when I picked it up - I have video saved as well of my walk around. Some of the scratch marks were actually just dirt. I actually washed the truck when we finished using it. We hung a new car smell fragrance tree in the truck because whoever drove it before us smoked so much weed that the fabric reeked of pot. TERRIBLE and the person should be fined for smoking weed and driving your trucks - as a physician, I know the effects of weed on cognitive skills and reaction time and the risk this person put everyone in on the road is unconscionable.

I left feeling like I had stupid questions but at 5am realizing I have to figure out how to get my job done. Then coming back at 7am to get the truck. Was told I wasn't verified which could have been done the day before and that the app had been glitching for the last 3 days. Why was I not told that the day before. I'm beyond disappointed. Still paid $25 for something that made my life turn upside down. I will never use uhaul again for anything.

Juan PI was given a truck with a dying battery. I called UHaul roadside assistance for a jump start. The tech acknowledged a bad battery and malfunctioning electrical system; but refused to tow to a U-Haul station 2 miles away. I was forced to drive and the truck shut down completely in the midst of busy traffic. I was lucky to pull over; but waited 5 hrs for U-Haul roadside assistant to arrange towing. Horrible experience.

Courtney M. at Gandy is incredibly personable and customer-centric and we have never had an unpleasant or unsatisfactory experience at ANY UHaul location (of which there are many in several states we have used). It's impressive that the company culture is so consistent from one location or state to the next.

Carlos M1. Be clear on UBox at Contract signing that you require 24 hours' notice to access; I couldn't find this anywhere and showed up unable to get my Box. 2. The U Box was atrocious. There were screws that penetrated the inside against my contents. Who's in charge of maintaining these? They need training. 3. My rental truck rental was a mess. They had the wrong equipment staged outside that I had rented (two furniture dolly's and a regular dolly), BUT the worst part was moving that equipment to the truck to find the truck was filthy- looked like food and dog food in the rear cargo area where my goods were to go. The technician was nice enough and cleaned it out an apologized; but more time to wait and I was on a time budget. Overall UHaul came across as mismanaged, and poor service

SHEILA DOne thing I didn't understand - the clock - If you rent for one day - it should be a 24 hour day. I ended up paying more. Also - the truck performed OK, it needed front end balanced and the front end needed alignment - it was all over the road. I put over 100 miles on it and it was very difficult to keep it going in a straight line. The rental agent was very kind and friendly - when I asked her about the military discount plastered on the building. She said it was one way rental only. Seems odd to me. I used to be a car rental agent many years ago and I was treated with respect.

dave fSt pete uhaul on 9th called the day before to tell us to go to Gandy as they had no trucks. I got to Gandy, they had no trucks. Finally found a 20' truck for 8 hrs ( I had to be back by 6:30) instead of 24 hrs as we had reserved. Truck had under 1/8 tank of fuel. Low fuel light came on a few miles later crossing Gandy Bridge. Overall not a good experience.
Roy EReserved truck was bat available at the location I reserved at. To get a truck I had to drive approximately 35 miles round trip. I had 2 movers on the clock. The bottom line was a 1,5 hour delay in pickup time which added $150 dollars to my moving cost. U Haul graciously refunded $50. So my experience was disappointing and costly. Your teams at both locations are professional and courteous. They did their best to relieve the service failure but I lost time and money.

This location was confusing to find, in a very unsafe feeling part of town, the building is surrounded by a chain fence with several dogs inside, and had no place to even park the truck. There was a stray dog outside that bit me as I was trying to find my way into the building to talk to someone. This was not even the location I selected when making my reservation.

Within one year our storage unit rate increased twice. As a long time u-haul customer/ renter you should have a code for the restrooms to accommodate the people who are actually paying the bills for your u-haul establishment to exists.

We had movers hired, and the employee in charge did not open the locks on the double doors for over an hour because he was busy with truck rentals. There were two other people trying to also move. One woman waited for over a hour. It was ridiculous. The doors were right outside the desk where he was checking people in, yet he would not take the thirty second to unlock the doors. Very frustrating and rude. Overall, the facility is nice and it's clean. But even when we went back after the units were cleared to have the contracts closed, it took a long time. Just a very inefficient front desk. Very very close and inefficient.

David b | Premières impressionsThe general manager held my unit hostage from my boyfriend stating that she wouldn't give him any information on the unit until he paid the month in full of almost $200. The due date was one day before. She then refused to give him any information as he was not listed as a "user" of the unit. So it was okay to extort him for $200 but not give him a map to the unit's location. I was very sick with 101 fever and had to appear to grant him access. The GM then said she would change my address for me as it was an out of state address when I first moved into the unit. She only changed the street number of my address. She didn't change the street name, city, state or zip code. This has been my experience with the staff ever since I began renting the unit 2 years ago. I would NEVER recommend this place. The staff claims to be protecting the facility but in fact, they're only interested in making money. If the manager had any conscience at all, she'd refund the whole month that she charged me for 24 hours of use. But I doubt she will as she has never been helpful or friendly.

From the first contact, everyone is welcoming, very friendly (even remembering our names) and extremely helpful in determining storage needs. Kimberly, who is the storage expert, is definitely a huge asset to UHaul on Gandy in South Tampa. She knows exactly how much storage is needed and went above and beyond in finding us storage to meet our needs and making sure it was available for our move to storage day. The facility, managed by Courtney, is very clean, the staff is very helpful and another huge plus is you pull your vehicle into the building and load and unload in air conditioned comfort! I highly recommend UHaul Storage on Gandy!

We were preparing to remove our items for our move and noticed there we water marks on our boxes. We noticed there was a leak and it was apparent that it had been leaking for a while. The boxes were dry and had some spots on them. The plastic totes had orange rusts spots and calcium build up. We took some of the totes down and there was a water puddle that spilled over us. We had notified the staff and they placed a tarp over the unit. We notified them May 27th and we returned June 1st and noticed there were puddles forming in the tarp. There were 4 puddle spots. We did file a claim. Other than the leak, everything else was great.

Rental at about 5:00 was horrible young black girl saying no we don't have any ! I must have mention 5 time I'm going right there you can see the house from here! Then we loaded up wasn't enough room so we left to go back to get the washer! It was 6:41 and the young black guy said I'm closing this door( the wide ones, understand we just got the truck we were back quickly it was 6:41 PM. He told us we had to go to the other door. There's no way to go to the other door with the heavy duty table. My daughter mention it's 641 and you're closing now he said yes for the third or fourth time I said, do you see we only have a few more items including the table, my daughter screamed because I picked up the table in a hurry and broke it. We took our time getting it in there patiently he hurried us, so bad upset us so bad, the table broke we have insurance and expecting either U-Haul or the insurance to pay for the table , we put the broken table in the storage unit. The storage unit door would not hold up itself. We had trouble in the beginning to slide the metal to open the door again we had trouble when we open the storage unit the metal piece had to slide the broken table is in the storage unit on top of that we noticed that it wasn't a 24 hour rental having us clock out at before 11 pm aweful experience

I specifically set up my credit card for auto billing to avoid forgetting payments and incurring a late fee. They had a problem charging my card 2 months after I set it up and they charged me a $15 late fee. They did'nt even call, text or try to email me before charging me. They're relying on your late fees. They would'nt credit me. I terminated my account with 25 days remaining before the next billing and they would'nt pro-rate me a refund. They STOLE over $160 from me. The person dealing with was very smug and had the attitude of "Take it or leave it". Well I took it alright. I took my business to Life Storage. Same size unit for $50 less. Do yourself a favor stay as far away from U-haul as possible. They also raised they're rates twice this year without giving notice. Shady, Greedy and dispicable!

I was advised by another customer on how to access the building. The second issue was that the 3 doors that are used to drive in and load/unload have cars parked in front of the doors and the one door that was available was being used by one of the employees who parked inside and was actually sleeping in her car. Only two of the three doors were actually functional and again had vehicles parked in front of them and not inside where you would load/unload.

During my move, they did not provide the equipment I paid for when I picked up the truck, they "gave away" my storage units without informing me so when I arrived with my truck filled with my things there was no where to put them and "it is uhaul right to not guarantee anything you reserve". I then had to drive two hours north to put half my things in a friends garage while the storage location cleaned out one storage unit for my valuables. That unit was filled for six weeks and when I went to gather my things to move into my house there had been a leak in the unit and it covered all my things with dirty water, damaging electronics and a mattress. They do not provide insurance for their units. This is all from one move. Uhaul is the worst company that exists and if you can find another moving company, even if it costs more it will save you in the long run.

One, the slide-card access to the door on the east side (between the garage doors) never worked to open that door. This was a problem when the bays were occupied or when the garage doors were broken and didn't open. Two, the garage doors seemed to be out of service often, but not sign would be posted to indicate they were out of service. On one occasion, I saw a truck back into the door because it didn't open, which only further delayed its repair. Since the doors open automatically with a small amount of clearance when they are working, It would be a good idea to put a sign on a non-functioning door to avoid further collisions.

One piece to improve on is customer communication about what a split level means and that there are NO elevations to those units. We were originally assigned a split level and would have needed to carry heavy items up and down. Customers have no idea what location-specific issues are and without a good explanation may sign up for something that is not a good fit.

Ended up putting it all in the donate section ( mattress and box spring, fabric lawn chairs and a old wooden desk). Water damage and mold. Awful. Maintain your roof better. I stored these thing for over two years at 180,7 a month and I lost it all. Wasted my money for what?? Very disappointing

This was on a Sunday.. When I tried to make a claim with RepWest, U Haul's insurance carrier, they would not pay me because there were no photos of the damage. At the time of the damage, when I went to the clerk in the office, she didn't know what to do and suggested I wait and speak with the manager the following day--he didn't know what to do either. If you require insurance, you should do your job when there is a loss.

I have called 3 times and still have no response, I keep getting told the manager will call me. I rented the storage unit 2 weeks ago, I'm already having major issues since day 1. I called for the 3rd time today, the customer service representative laughed at me. I find that extremely unprofessional, I am not sure what they look for in the employees. During these uncertain times, with unemployment being so high I am sure there are better applicants to hire. Supposedly the calls are recorded so I would really hope they would review the call and make it a coaching opportunity. I am still waiting for the general manager Todd Rarick to contact me. I work in financial sales, and understand the value of great customer service which this company lacks. I would never recommend anyone to rent from this facility. This has truly been a disaster. I rather pay more money and rent somewhere else.

Then they told me I had to bag it up! Ok, still acceptable. THEN they told me it was going to cost me $10 PER BAG!! UNACCEPTABLE! That was the only thing I didn't like! I got rid of the storage unit simply because I don't need it. I'm going to be throwing away a lot of it. I have to do it at home.
