The person who checked me in could be best described as somewhere between indifferent to annoyed towards me. The equipment doesn't seem to have been maintained at all. My truck blew a wheel cylinder, lost right rear breaks and eventually all brake fluid. As it was being towed in the right front wheel bearings gave and nearly caught the truck on fire. We had stop frequently to cool it down

I first scheduled with a different location, which did not even have a truck available. I called three different numbers and got rescheduled for this location. The customer service person was nice and helpful. They did not have a Dolly available, which meant I had to go buy one. The truck had a few pieces of trash (a coat hanger, some used paper towels…) in it. Overall, considering this location had 2 minutes of notice, it was good. But, my experience with Uhaul overall was abysmal, and I will never use it again.

Poor customer service representative at this location... charged for extra day eventhough we were only half hour late and had tried to call. Also was unkind and not willing to understand the situation with the times and blamed me for condition truck was in when I picked it up. The rudeness and unhelpful nature of your staff and operating systems far outweigh any convenience offered by your company. Corporate assholes who get rich taking people's money from this little penny anti shit... you guys suck all the way around

On Tuesday 2-20-2022 I rented a truck to help my daughter move back home. Her apartment was in Homewood but my house is in McCalla, so asked to drop the truck off in McCalla (about 16 miles one-way), and the gentleman set up the rental. After talking it over with my daughter, I wasn't sure if there was a price difference between a one-way rental versus bringing the truck back to the same location because was not explained. I went back into the office but this time there was a young lady at the desk. When I asked the question at first she said there was a difference but didn't tell me how much. I then asked her to check my reservation, and she quickly changed her answer to say the price was about the same. So I went to my car and was about to drive off when I saw the gentleman who checked me out and asked the same question. It turns out the price would be cut in half if I brought the truck back. That said, I don't understand why the young lady didn't want to help me. POOR SERVICE

We turned right into the street beside U-Haul. The largest U-Haul truck was parked in our lane for display. There was not enough turning radius room for our truck and U-Haul trailer. We had to back up in the busy road to try and gain more turning radius. To make it without hitting the huge parked U Haul truck, we had to drive our truck over the concrete curbing to make it. The valence under our truck hung on the concrete, we thought we busted a tire, spinning out to turn in. I told the lady working so she could be aware hoping no one else had to have a bad experience. She blank stared at me not saying a word. The truck on display sets up customers for trouble. This could be avoided by moving the truck. I'm thankful my husband is a very skilled driver.

I chose the option for a self-guided pick up, but when I arrived to pick up it said that no equipment was prepared. I went inside and there were no workers present. I waited for 15 minutes before someone came. I even used the walkie talkie provided on the desk, but the other one was also laying on the desk. I had ordered a mattress protector and it was not present in my equipment - as my equipment was not prepared. I did not receive the mattress protector, even after asking for it. I was given a pack of furniture pads, which I did not need.

The attendant would check the truck in and I was free to go. When I got receipt, he charged for 2 gallons of extra fuels which was baloney. The truck on level ground had more than a half tank. Was parked on severe hill at drop off location and they marked it as half tank. Which is not accurate. I am disputing the extra fuel charges that were not accurate.

The right turn stop & tail light did not work but I was late for a 11:00 pick up already didn't haven't time to go to another u haul rental to find another car dolly cause this was the 2nd place I had to go because the 1st place could not find the 1 they just rented me and had to credit my card backs to go to this 2nd store

At checkout the attendant was courteous and helpful. A reservation was made with a phone call and everythi9ng was in order when I arrived. Assistance was given at check in without hesitation. Returning the vehicle check in was just as efficient.

This uhual facility is by far the worst , the number online is not correct . Customer service is trash. The manager is rude . They guys on site were great help especially the older man . Very sweet . Do not rent from them at all

Clean equipment before use. Any reason to not clean is unacceptable. Also too I had a bank debit card with a Visa Logo. It has charge feature on it. It works just like a charge card therefore I don't need a separate credit card. The rental was executed without any problem. I do not understand the rental hesitancy. Merci.

I am surprised and disappointed in the last experience with Uhaul @ 540 Valley Ave in Birmingham/Homewood, AL. I placed an order for Glorified Movers to move me and the movers were a NO SHOW. They did not respond to my telephone calls and email. The truck was rented from the above mentioned Uhaul location. Upon return of the truck I explained to the clerk what had happened and she showed no empathy for the situation, did not apologize and told me to submit a review. I have used this location for many years always with GREAT service but not this time unfortunately. Will look for future needs elsewhere. Also was told that the receipt would be emailed to me in 10 minutes, it showed up finally in 2,5 hours. Any future needs I may have will be taken elsewhere. Disappointed in Uhaul.

The amount should be given in office immediately upon return of truck Instead of waiting for a text to give payment due.. I was told over phone I could use a debit card . When I got in office I was told I needed a credit card because people can close their bank accounts

Make sure all equipment is there for reservations. I made my reservation two weeks in advance only to arrive and my equipment was not available. I also had to drive a extra 10 miles to another location only for them to be out of the requested equipment as well.

The process of getting into the gate was slowed by another truck being parked in front of the gate. The overall process could've been 2 hours quicker if it weren't for the slow servicing of the truck in front of the gate. The friendly staff helped.

I use the online check in it didn't work brought the vehicle back around 11:45 tried to use the return on the app still didn't work had to go back in the store to give the guy the key. Bad thing I see is that the online need improvement doesn't work the people at the service desk need to makesure to check the vehicle before the customer leave. A customer may get charged for not have the vehicle back on time may get charged for not put the gas back one of the workers could drive the vehicle to the store and then the customer get charged for the gas everything need to happen when the customer returns 1. Check the vehicle 2. Check the gas

I bought a lock from the office when I rented the unit. The new manager came in and replaced my locked saying it wasn't the right brand or something. Then had the nerves to charge me for it had a hospital emergency and needed some paperwork from my. Unit and couldn't even get in my dam unit

I like U-haul when I needed to rent a truck they was available. I used there storage facility and it was big and spacious. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to my family and friends.

Pick up lady was a little "short" verbally, and had trouble connecting the hitch and asked me what size my 2" ball was. But in the end she got it all worked out. Drop off was an absolute breeze and very smooth and helpful staff.

I moved in a few items and came back to a lock on the storage and a few of my boxes open. When I inquired about it, I was informed the manager who did the walk through may have opened a few boxes to try to find mail with my name on it … not a logical excuse in my opinion, as all that information is in your computer system. If anything is missing, I will report it once I move my items out.

The young man who helped me was amazing and kind. I would definitely use that location again. He went above and beyond with a smile. I hate that I can't remember his name as I'm writing this, but he checked me out and checked me in when I brought the truck back.

Description of the dimensions, and the size of your current living space compared to the suggested rental space, is a little deceptive. The larger measurement happened to be height (the ceiling), while I was figuring out floor square ft in my head like you normally do with homes, apartments, etc.

I had a good experience with the previous owner Jordan, however the new one Andrea has a smart mouth on her. I am going through identity theft right now and know who is behind it, so my A118 was part of my cousin doing and even though I was wrong letting it build up. Jordan has a heart and was helping me sort it out and was about to set up a plan of payment for that one so i could get it paid and out of my name. However, B252 was prepaid and who really keeps up with receipts when it is put in the system. Now i can not get my belongings due to the fact that Andrea said i have to have a receipt but by law since it is documented in y'all system I have a right to get my belongings out of that one. I have spoken with my lawyer as well and will be going forward with this, so if she has gotten rid of my belongings then I feel y'all owe me as well. My main concern was my laptop with documentation on it, my chest full of paperwork and some house items that i just brought. Overall, I really like the facility and hope in the future when all is resolved if I ever have to get a storage I can or even a U-Haul rental to move.

We reserved a temp-controlled 10x20 about two months before our move . When we arrived yesterday to actually move in , we were informed that they were sold out of that type of unit . At that point, we had a moving truck full and a crew ready to unload . Because we needed a temp-controlled unit, we had to downgrade to a 10x15. Not everything would fit and it has been a massive headache on top of an already stressful move . Why offer advance reservations if this situation is a possibility ?! Will not be recommending .

The management and the customer service experience that I received from the regional and the manager was totally unacceptable and when I called to complain about people ordering in the hallway of the storage facility and smoking weed and doing drugs no one ever called me back U-Haul on the Valley Avenue in Birmingham Alabama in Homewood is a poor run facility and the upper level management does not care about their customers never got a reply no one ever follow up

I was a long time renter(10 yrs) at this storage unit and had no intention of leaving b/c it was so convenient, but in recent years the management/maintenance has deteriorated considerably all while raising my rent (twice last year) I think the current manager likes to sit in the office vaping (getting high) while tending to nothing. Hallways were no longer cleaned, gates stayed broken (open and unsecured).

I left that storage facility from November 14,2022. I moved out I got a call from a nice Lady on the 09 of December and I explain to her that I was no longer in that space. The management at that place was really bad  and was never no one there, the phone will ring never no answer. I have used U-Haul in many occasions but this is the worst experience I ever had. I hope you'll get it together soon, thanks have a great weekend.

The WORST uhual experience EVER!!! Had my storage broken into & they didn't even alert me, I just so happen to come add things and I see a homeless person wearing my clothes!! Apparently they "paid him" to throw all of my belongs away because they didn't know who they belonged to. (This is what the location manager told the police) They offered me a "V.I.P" which is a 15 dollar gift card and that was it!! Thousands of dollars worth of clothes & shoes just gone! In a so called secure unit, none of their cameras record just plays live video. I got a call to come close out my account I pay the guy cash & next thing I know I'm still getting a bill 4 months later! This place it's owned and ran by scammers & thieves!

Brandon was absolutely an awesome manager and I'm so glad he received a promotion as he deserved it. I know Jordan will have some huge shoes to fill. The only negative comment I have is that the air conditioning ducts would drip condensation or either it was rain as it would leak a lot more when it rained. This resulted in getting some of my items wet and ruined a nightstand. I brought up a clear plastic tarp to cover the area so my items wouldn't keep getting ruined.

My internal unit was broken into and several thousand dollars of equipment stolen. A new lock was put on, but I was never given the combination. When I came from Tennessee to clean it out I was unable to get into it and the staff didn't have the code. I had to have it cut off at my own expense. The manager said they would reverse the charge and that hasn't happened.

I'm saying average because I only just signed the contract and haven't actually used the facility yet. So I don't really know if the experience of using the storage units will be great or not yet. However, everyone I have spoken with and in person or over the phone has been extremely helpful and thorough. So customer service gets an A+ from me thus far.

Staff were too busy to help and it probably affected their poor attitude. It took for ever to get the elevator to work and there was only one usable moving cart to transport my belongings. There was no supervised flow of traffic, because vehicles blocked your movement. Management should be informed to resolve unpleasant circumstances.

The manager at this location was very helpful, appreciative and courteous. Couldn't ask for better customer service anywhere else. I do ask as Uhaul as a business do. Make inside enclosed climate control storage units with building access with double doors where you can access them with larger furniture or whatever. We had to store an art piece at a location at UAB because it wouldn't fit in the single access doors. It was an 4X8X2 enclosed art piece crate. We lacked about 2 inches from being able to get it through the inside access doors to the hallway to our storage room. But besides that, no complaints what so ever. Thanks Mr Phillips.

I don't think I would recommend uhaul anything at this point. I reserved a truck that was unavailable when I got there so I'm not sure the point of a Reservation. Also I need to get in touch with someone and cannot connect with a human about this storage facility. I've called multiple times and been on hold for the longest wait times eventually having to hang up, I've emailed, tried online chat and still cannot get the help I need. I hired movers who showed up with two movers when I ordered 3. Then it was very difficult to get my refund, because at one point they hung on when I called. Four times in a row. They wouldn't answer they just picked up and hung up. It was not a pleasant uhaul experience.

The drop off location was incorrect. I need to make sure I'm not charged $1 000 my original drop off on the phone was Bessemer RD 35208 bham then an hour after the drop off a representative called me warning me of outrageous charges. We used the truck in a 10hr time frame, utilized UHAUL storage I spent over $600 in one day with this company now threats of a $1000 charge because a communications error. If I am rating this solely on our check in experience - then it was great. The staff were very friendly and helped show us where our unit was and was very helpful in showing us the size options of the units. Fast forward to a week later - my husband drives over to drop off some items at the unit. Our code isn't working and he's confused as to why. Turns out we were "moved out of the system", our code was cancelled and a lock was put on our unit. Absolutely no notice whatsoever. Had we not shown up today our unit would have probably been sold, cleaned out, etc. And all of our belongings gone. Is it customary to move someone out without any notice whatsoever?!? He ended up having to resubmit all our information and start a new contract since our other one had been cancelled out. Thankfully we showed up today or who knows what would have happened.

Shandon was wonderful in helping us with our moving process. Their were a lot of people dropping off their trucks and he made sure we were taken care of in a timely fashion. He went above and beyond!

It's a wonderful convenience to be able to rent a truck and store at the same location. I would recommend UHaul on Valley Avenue in Birmingham. Moving is awful but UHaul made it better.

My unit was on the back side adjacent to woods. It was a bit spooky to go back there when nobody was in the building, but I open carry for extra protection, so we had no problems.

Payed for a month at a time through my debit card. Three days into my final month, I moved out of unit. Uhaul would not refund the remaining 27 days. Not Good! Bad on Uhaul!

My husband and I had a reservation for a 10x10 unit. When we got there I was informed that no 10x10 unit was available. I was offered a 7x10. What is the point of having a reservation? Disappointing.

originally reserved a 5x10x10 and it stated it could fit up to 1200 sq feet and a 1-2 bedroom apartment. I lived in a 800 sq ft apartment and it would not fit. Guy who helped me was great though.
