There was coffee stains and some other stains all over the steering wheel as well as foot prints on the passenger side dash board but other than that, I needed the truck for only an hour to haul a large purchase and was able to do it super fast! The employees were friendly, but the one who hooked up the unit did not listen to my concerns about a light on the trailer not working, blowing off my comment with 'it's just a dummy light'. If so, then why was the twin if this light active? Dropping off the equipment was painless, too. Just rolled up under the canopy, disconnected the unit, then head on our way. Unfortunately, offloading the trailer into my storage unit at the Council Bluffs location ended in us almost getting trapped behind the gate. Apparently, your clerk closed the access gate mire than 10 minutes before the business closed without making sure the lot was empty first. I tried calling the store, but no one answered. Again, this was before the stores closing hour of 1900. Fortunately, the employee responsible for hooking up rental equipment was outside doing just that, so I was able to get his attention and get let out. Annoyingly, he tried telling us that access to the storage units was limited to business hours. I already knew that and our departure was at 1850.

Jeff FranksI ended up in the hospital for a few days and tryed to get a hold of them on the day it had to be back.and it was difficult to talk to someone so i had to try tge chat thing the next morning the day after that a lady called me said they were gonna call it in stolen i was in the hospital the day before they charged be 498 dollars and said I had till before 330 to have it back mind you I just got outta the hospital for a minor stroke they told me it was 19,99 a day plus milage i added it all up and it wasnt 498.

katharine Kelly | Expérience généraleI was harassed to get a return time and day in, yet despite 4 days being included in price and returning it in under 2, I was not given half of my money back. If this is a policy the company protects, then they are more selfish and inconsiderate than expected. Do not push your customers to get a return time in if their is no incentive or logical reasoning to me hindering and rushing myself in the moving process. Despite this the employee and location was quick, no questions asked. I drove up to returns, they came and took it, and I was politely sent off. However, I was asked over an hour later to complete check in, despite already dropping off the trailer. There seems to be a lackluster push towards completing paperwork and check ins across both locations I went to, although they are multiple states across from each other.

Duell SullivanI am not very happy that I got a call the day before I was suppose to pick up the truck in Harlan, IA and was told Harlan didn't have a truck for me there. Is it not your responsibility to have a truck there since I put the request in about 3 weeks ago? I am not sure I was compensated enough for the trouble and how far out of the way it was to pick up the truck in Council Bluffs instead of Harlan. Council bluffs is 40 mile where as Harlan was only like 12 miles from Avoca where I moved from to Council Bluffs. So instead of 52 miles I went 90 miles. It was inconvenient to say the least.
Heidi HillDoing the contract prior to hooking up the trailer, then changing it in the system after I've left, means the paperwork I have if I get pulled over is not valid. Additionally, as a former U-Haul employee I can saw with certainty, no location should ever have only 1 employee on the clock at any one time. Having 1 employee opens you up to liability if they get hurt and there's no one there to even call for help. It also leaves your store, and cash drawers unattended with the CSR is in the lot pulling a truck, checking one in, hooking up a trailer, etc. And I can't imagine trying to install a hitch or fix wiring, with only 1 employee.
ben ossmanThey used no pads and many many things were ruined or scratched. They were late, and only used 5 of the 6 containers. We would never have used them. Would never use them again and they should not have been recommended to us. To anyone.

The bottoms of everything gets pretty gross which then gets transferred to the carpet or floors of the house. I could go on…… but. Floors are the worst part by far!!

When I signed the rental agreement the agent told me that the paperwork he gave me should be to the truck I wanted so I just took him at his word. I didn't physically do the check out report on the vehicle I just him for his word. When I returned the truck I realized I had the paper work to another truck. I wrote down all the information for the vehicle I had and first thing the next morning I called our Manawa location in Council Bluffs, Iowa and spoke with the GM Mallory Carver, who assured me that they figured it out and everything was transfered to the right vehicle and it was okay. Thanks Mallory for taking care of your customers, you've gone above and beyond for me!
Tina RamsayI paid 216$ for a 26 foot truck with a steering wheel that was 30 degrees off center driving down the road, and a crazy vibration in the steering wheel on the highway. It's by far the worst experience I've had yet with a rental.

Not only did they go above and beyond for a trailer last minute but they also gave us a storage unit free of charge for the first month. When we got to the unit it was to small. So once again Uhaul came through last minute and got us a bigger unit. I would % recommend U-haul. P.S. Pensky wanted over $1 000 for the same thing that Uhaul got us for $127.00. Just saying.

On Apr 27th we needed to check out of a hotel and had acquired a good bit of stuff and needed a truck to move everything. First I had enough money for the truck and the mileage but not the deposit that was being required... A friend ended up helping me out with money for the deposit so I went back and started the process of renting the truck. Toward the end of the process I was told that I had to call this number to clear something up before they could rent the truck to me. I ran into this once before about 2 months prior, which I cleared up within 10 minutes and rented the truck and was on my way. I have rented three or four trucks since then so I was a little confused as to why I was having to go through this process again but nonetheless I called and come to find out that U-Haul just decided not to do business with me anymore. Would not tell me why even though I asked repeatedly and frankly I feel that I deserve some kind of explanation, because I have rented several several trucks from U-Haul and two storage units. After getting nowhere with the representative, I rented a truck from Penske picked up my stuff at the hotel and immediately went back across the road to U-Haul and emptied out one of my storage units! Next week I will empty out the other storage unit and I will never use U-Haul ever again and I will make sure I tell my company and all my friends not to use U-Haul for their storage or transportation needs! They all deserve something from the company for the level of customer service they all gave me and it was every single time I went in there they all was very busy with others but would still help me out. One time we showed up and the staff had put a lock on the unit indicating it was ready for another tenant. I had to go to the store and they had to come out and unlock it. 3. With any of these occurrences it seemed like it would take way to long to resolve whatever issue was at hand. It would usually take them 15 min to figure out a solution.

This was why I obtained storage elsewhere. Also, the required padlock was very difficult to unlock. It took several minutes of struggle every time I tried to open it. I was able to rent a garage that is literally six times the size of my Uhaul unit, for $18 less a month. My Uhaul unit was way overpriced for its size. The location and layout of the facility was very convenient, and your staff was friendly and helpful.

They should of took that 10 dollars off my account knowing that the gate was broke The card reader really never worked. The staff was always very helpful and polite. I didn't like the fact that almost ever 6 months my rent would go up because uhaul did work to the property I shouldn't have to pay for uhaul to upgrade their property. I was there 6 years if anything I should of got some kind of discount.. One of the main reasons I got all my stuff out is because the cost always going up and I couldn't even get a discount when I rented a truck.

Even when i broke a key off in my lock, the staff was helpful and friendly for/to me. Definitely suggest this over all other storage options in council bluffs. Alsothe first month rent free after renting a uhaul truck was immensely helpful and a wonderful option i hope stays part of the business model.
