Keep doing what you're doing !! I have used several different U-Haul locations in the past as I am a regular and frequent U-Haul customer. This U-Haul location is the best one that I have ever used! The manager at this location is personally involved with day-to-day operations and customer interactions in order to guarantee customer satisfaction. The level of service and personal interaction at this location is head-and-shoulders above any U-Haul location that I have ever used in the past!

Patricia BryantEven though truck was not located at Bourbonnais address where it was supposed to be available for pick up, the manager in Kankakee was extremely helpful in reducing the toxic start to our relocation process. She was very calming and reassuring while at the same time dealing with in store computer issues. U-haul itself has many issues, starting with terrible communications through their own website and telephone IA call center. NO pass-through connections available or people to help resolve issues, no connection available to anyone that can assist its customer. Companies need to try to navigate their own communications systems to witness the lack of "communications"'.

So Lady over the phone was Very awful and not helping tried to extend pretty much sounded like she was high and was like go figure it out yourself. Can't believe no one even helped the Situation and all that. I would never recommend U-Haul ever for rental.

janet linhartYOU MUST DROP THE VEHICLE OFF THE NIGHT BEFORE AND ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO ENSURE IT IS STORED INDOORS OVERNIGHT. (A simple search on vehicle break ins for the location area will IMMEDIATELY show you why!) The ONLY way to get a hitch installed is to drop off night before OR being there at 6 AM or so..... Mechanic is ONLY in early AM's is the reason.

JORDAN GOODMANThis location did outstanding! My company (Love's) set up U-Haul arrangements for my relocation. A woman called me the day before my rental informing me I'd have to go to Manteno to pick up my truck (this isn't what my company set up for me). Though displeased, I agreed since I was told I could just use the app to pickup the truck. However, the truck didn't show up in the app. She had me going to a location with no one on duty for Sunday. I went to the Kankakee location and explained my problem. They were very friendly and set me up with the truck I originally wanted. Whoever called me and messed up my original arrangements caused me much hardship and caused me to have to pay for this myself out of pocket. However, the good people at this location actually care about customer service and made up for the mess she caused me.

It would not have been possible- our truck would not be able to pull between. As it was, when we picked up, the guy who hooked it up had to pull it aside of the fender of the trailer next to it and we had to exit the spot at an unusual angle going right then left to miss that next trailer. The guy at drop off was rude & very short with me when I said I wasn't exactly sure which spot it went to because there were different trailers parked there tonight. Maybe it was because I'm female driving a pick-up & pulling a trailer.

April Smith1) Pair the ignition key with the correct truck better. I had to blow a bunch of time in the early going because after finding what I was told to be the correct truck (license plates match), and then putting a bunch of stuff in the cab for my wife and I during our travels, I finally put the key in the ignition only to learn I had either the wrong key or the wrong truck. That combined with getting set up with the correct pair blew a solid 30 minutes off our time to accomplish what we needed to. 2) Make clearer where the gasoline gauge is. After clicking on the link to verify the correct truck, and seeing the last person had said there was 3/8 of a tank, I took the photo of the dashboard as instructed (to capture odometer and gas gauge), and I manually changed the tank amount to 9/16th. Well, later while driving I realized I reported on the OIL GAUGE and not the gas gauge... so 3/8 was correct, but I'd put in 9/16, and there didn't seem to be a way to change that. So I wound up having to put in about 1/4th of a tank too much because of that error, and also wound up putting even more in than I should have because the gauge gauge needed didn't operate well unless the vehicle was driven and hit enough bumps so the needle would move. When it finally did, I found I put in even more than the 9/16th, which again was incorrect to begin with. So I'm guessing I easily paid $20 too much in fuel due to not being able to correct my initial error (I envisioned it taking hours on the phone with customer service), and then because I couldn't get an accurate real-time reading of what gas I'd actually put in the tank until going well over....

When I started the engine and looked at the fuel gauge, the needle was touching the "F" but didn't completely cover the "F". During the course of my rental, I drove a total of 9 miles. When I went to the gas station, it took 5 gallons to top off the tank. When I returned the van and presented the gas station receipt and van mileage, I was met with a shrug and "too bad." I understand that this is an intentional ploy by many companies to get more gas back than you are given to start, but this was EGREGIOUS and dishonest.

ann syrstad | Expérience généraleI rented the truck from Crete and the unit in Kankakee. The first unit didn't have a lock inside and the manager said she puts them in there "when she gets to it." The lock SHOULD have been there already, not when it's convenient for the manager. When I arrived the open sign was on at the office, but they were closed. We had to figure out the keypads on our own. The people that answer when the manager has her calls forwarded can help with nothing when called, all they do is apologize. The managers number is listed as an "emergency contact" on the keypad, but it gets forwarded to the "I'm sorry" crew. Horrible customer service! We walked away from the first unit and had to rerent the truck. The next morning I call the location and that's when I was told the lock is put there when convenient for her. She switched me to a different, larger unit that DIDNT HAVE 24 HOUR ACCESS. I found this out as I'm standing at the door at midnight with the people that helped me move the large furniture that was in the truck and am denied access to my unit, and when I call the emergency number I get the "I'm sorry" representatives. Now I have a truck full of heavy furniture that was supposed to be returned to the Crete location, that they had already booked out for another person the next morning at 10 AM, with no access to my unit and no way of getting my helpers back at 5 AM when they open. I am forced to carry over the truck into the next day, that messes up the next customers reservation, and I'm guessing by how helpful the customer service representative was (sarcasm) the email that she said she sent to the general manager probably didn't explain this whole situation. I am trying to move three children and all of our belongings and had very limited time with the people that were helping me move. "I'm sorry" is not what someone wants to hear when they're standing outside of a storage unit that was supposed to be 24 hour access with a house full of their belongings at midnight. I will be calling the location in the morning, as well as the Crete location to explain again what happened and to sort out what the charges will be due, considering all the extra mileage and day added because of these mistakes on U-Haul's part.

She fully explained the directions and procedures. Sophia made the move-in experience so very easy. As I move more items into my new storage unit, I hope to see Sophia again. She made me very happy.
