Cindy TateI went to the U-Haul on 96th and Pacific the first time. I made a reservation night before and everything. When I showed up for my 10:00 a.m. appointment, the line was very long. Once I got to the front, there were two staff members who are males. The gentleman who is helping me was very nice and went outside to get my trailer ready. He immediately came back inside and said the trailer must have been stolen as we do not show that it was rented out and it's not out there. The employee did not offer any other trailers, I'm assuming, because of the amount of stress he was going under. At that time he was getting yelled at by another woman who said she was there for an appointment in her trouble is blocked. I was a little worried because the gentleman knew nothing about a refund for the amount I had spent. I ended up calling customer service who told me to go to 64th and Yakima for 12:00 appointment. When I showed up for my 12:00 appointment around 11:45, there was no one in the store at all. I counted five different men who are there and none of them help me at first. the employee rented out a particular trailer and when we went out there to get it, he changed his mind and thin air and gave me the other one. There was no proof that this was changed in the paperwork and I'm hoping I didn't take off with the wrong trailer. The trailer was covered in some kind of block tar, lots of dirt and other materials such as broken glass and legos. I'm thinking someone use this for a dump run prior to me. It wasn't clean at all and I'm hoping I'm not responsible for it
Deborah LauckI will never recommend uhaul and will never use uhaul again. I have used uhaul 4 times in my life and all 4 times had very bad experiences. Most recently I my reservation got moved last minute to a location 28 miles further than the one I originally scheduled. For the 26' truck. And I was told the car trailer would be not avail at that location it was 26 miles oposite direction and not avail until later in afternoon around 3:00-4:00. And was told I would receive phone call to let me know if it was there or not to save me trip if not there but no phone call and it was not there . Then I was told nearest was 90 miles away. So I declined trailer. In addition, my reservation got scheduled for the wrong two dates so I called to change it from fruday/Saturday to Thursday/friday. Well I found out that it got made for the 3 days and I was charged $40 for 3rd day that I did not use. Then I got called on Saturday the 16th (today) stating that I failed to pick up the car trailer that was scheduled to be picked up today (3/-6) I did not schedule a pick up for 16th I was already in different state and done moving. I then asked them about the overcharge of Saturday and was told me and the lady at drop off location don't know how to listen and the drop off lady for uhaul doesn't know how to do her job . This was being said in background by a female. I was told no refund for unused $40 charge so I hung up
marc larsenThe staff onsite were friendly and quick. We were in and out with our trailer in record time. That applies to pickup and drop-off. We are customers of U-Haul frequently, and even though this location isn't the most convenient for us, we will make the trip just to work with this crew.

The problem was the racket straps that lock down the front wheels were in extremely poor condition, and could never get the straps to lock down. I had to stop a minimum of 20 times to re-strap them, was extremely inconvenient and stressful.

PAUL PERKINSONOur representative at check in was the VERY BEST we have ever had at a U-Haul check in:). This is likely not the most glamorous job yet she treated us as if what she was doing mattered! It is SO hard to find in customer service lately and we hope she is recognized for being amazing. I SO wish I could remember her name but look it up? Wapato Park location on Sunday, December 17th in the midafternoon❤️. You renew my faith in those who believe in customer service!

scott smithHi, The rental was a really bad experience. First the van didn't had gas. I waited for the assistant to put a little bit of gas in the van, so I could get to the gas station to put more gas and I went to the gas station and I putted $40 dollars then I start driving and after driving 40 miles then again the van was empty of gas. I proceed to add another $90 something dollars then I get to my next location and the gas was leaking underneath. I had to wait for the tow truck to pick up the van, take me to my house then the uhaul place for return the van. I was told I was going to get reimbursed for certain amount and I wasn't even reimbursed for the full gas amount. Now I have to call or go to the store to get this done.

They were over staffed with none knowing what to do, just standing around. I rented at this location because of the drive in access to feel safe. But you can't use the drive in access because uhaul is using it to store their own vehicles. They told me due to theft and didn't know when drive in access would be available again. Why didn't you tell me that BEFORE I rented?! I literally moved out of one storage facility into this one for that very reason of safety!!! Ridiculous

charles normanThere was a hole in the gas tank, obviously it was not looked over. We got stranded on the freeway with no shoulder space to put gas in. We called uhaul for help, told them someone was on the way with gas but we wanted to inform them of the problem. Our friend arrived with gas while we were on the phone, the lady on the phone heard our friend say it was unsafe and we should call for serious help. The uhaul emergency roadside lady proceeded to say "it sounds like you have everything under control then. Have a nice day." She hung up. Right when she heard we have a serious problem. This is not the first time uhaul has more than failed me, but put me and my loved ones in danger. I will NEVER use uahul ever again. The employees clearly don't care about the quality of equipment they rent out and the roadside people have zero empathy for human life.

Told her that I drop off at location and give the name of the person. Not heard from her again until I received a certified mail stating that the trailer is not clear out. I went back to the drop off location and trailer is still in the lots. Have called the scheduling agent to clarify the matter. As simple as going to the computer to clear out my return on September 21st but have to wait until November 6th. This is totally unacceptable and reflects poor management of your company and customer experience.
CHEE CHAIThere was only one time that someone asked to open the bathroom for them, as they did not have access. Other than that, everything went great. We rented for about four years.
Penny Octuck-Cole | Expérience généraleTruck had enough fuel to go 10 blocks and the fuel warning lights came on. It took 15 minutes to get the mirrors adjusted to be able to drive it. They were frozen in place. No help from the dealer . Door locks were falling out. Inside was clean though.
john goucherI paid for a hand truck that was not provided. The truck I was given had a check engine light on and when I went back to ask she said it was okay to take. It had excessive exhaust that looked like clouds of smoke when you would accelerate.

Tom Bryant | Expérience généraleI had a great experience with this facility. Every once in a while I needed access a bit later than 7oclock pm, but I managed. My one and only complaint is that when I was month behind (with late fee attached) and wanted to pay the past due balance and late fee on the due date of the following months rent to gain access that morning, I was told I would not be allowed access until the new months rent was paid as well. My situation was such that, had I been able to pay the PAST DUE amount and retrieve my tools from my unit, I would have easily been able to pay the amount that was not yet over due. I feel like the restriction on my access should've been lifted once the PAST due balance and fees were paid. And, had I allowed the day to pass without paying the rent due that day, I would understand being restricted again. However, I was unable to pay both the PAST due and due balances all at once. Therefore could not retrieve my tools, making it nearly impossible for me to recover financially and effectively causing me to accrue an unmanageable balance on the unit. It was very unfortunate for things to have gone this way. I will note that I appreciate the opportunity to retrieve my belongings from the unit months later. I was unaware that my things were still occupying the unit as I hadn't heard from anyone or received any notifications about missed payments or anything for months. Until the call about the "move out special". However, the bill that I'm saddled with because of the technicality or inconsiderate handling of the billing and lack of communication, not at all. Hopefully this matter will be evaluated so that future customers aren't lost die to similar situations.

They had put this black paint stuff on the back and I guess it hadn't dried before they shut the back lift door thingy lol! So that's why it was stuck. Like glued shut. But! They did good and refunded us some of our time. They were great about the problem. The manager Megan was very nice and took care of us .

The rates have gone up extensively being too high for the average client. I will never rent storage from U-Haul again. I've gone to local mom and pop storages in Tacoma.

This facility needs to be manned at all times so that customers can ask questions and so that all the doors will work. Checking out of the storage unit was a complete pain, first I have to wait on hold for 30 minutes to talk to the first person, then I get transferred to another person after being put on hold for another 5 minutes, then I was told there was nothing he could do to assist me with checking out of my unit and that I had to go to another location in order to check out. I went to that other location and checked out in less than 2 minutes, didn't sign any papers or anything. This process should have been handled over the phone instead of this crappy process.

billy lott | Expérience généraleWe had to stop at three uhaul offices after picking up the uhaul because there was a check engine light and tire monitor light before we travelled from Alexandria, La to Leesville, La. The first location visit after the lights, in Leesville, after prodding, the code PO 442 was found on the vehicle. We were advised to call the 1-800 number and wait for someone to come to the uhaul location to check out the vehicle. Lack of being able to get through to a mechanic over the phone, we googled the code and found that it is an evac code that means that the issue could be anywhere from an insecure gas cap to tube issues…the advisement was to correct the cap and drive for a few days in order to determine the issue, after the code is cleared. The first associate stayed long enough to check the code but did not clear the code. We fixed the cap, checked and confirmed that the tire pressure was correct and drove for a couple days. By the time we got to Albuquerque, NM…a couple days later, we met an associate named Joshua. Joshua took the time to explain every issue with the vehicle and how to determine if issues were worsening and we needed to ask for help. Advising us that the code could indicate catalytic converter issues and how to tell if that was the issue. He reset our vehicle on the tow dolly and took the time to explain how to properly use the dolly and cleared the code for us. His customer service was exceptional. We continued to drive, the evac code did not return but the tire monitor code kept coming on. The tire pressure did not waiver the 5 PSI, we kept driving. When we arrived at the Tacoma Uhaul, it took prodding, to be helped with removing our vehicle from the dolly. Overall, being the first time using this service, I don't believe that either of us are willing to utilize this moving service again. The storage service is very good, as well.

U-Haul 1-800 customer service set up the reservation for us, and instructed us to go directly to storage. Problem: there was no accessible staff at storage. The callbox went unanswered for nearly 20 minutes. A fellow customer informed us that entry required a keycard and the only place to get a keycard was at equipment drop-off, which was a separate facility. After we obtained our keycard and returned to storage, it took another 20 minutes before our keycard worked and we gained access. It then took another 10 minutes waiting for an answer on the callbox for staff to introduce us to our storage unit and provide us with a lock. Meanwhile, we observed the exact same problem with three other customers: difficulty in obtaining keycard, difficulty gaining access, difficulty finding staff. Additionally, a loud security alarm went off multiple times. Did that mean evacuate? That there was actual theft in progress? It was very unnerving. All in all, a frustrating experience. If you're having trouble hiring staff, then increase your pay. Workers are out there if you're willing to pay a living wage. Don't get cheap.

There is no security 24 hours, the cameras they have have immense blind spots and wouldn't be capable of picking up a license plate or description of a thief. Only after my unit was broken into did they put UHaul locks on the doors which they said they were going to do weeks prior. My rent was raised while I stayed there which was absolutely ridiculous and my move out process was unorganized and I ended up with charges after I already moved out and notified them. Not sure who's running this place but they're not doing a very good job.

This made us a little gun shy. The person who redeemed it for U-Haul was the young guy at this facility I am reviewing. He went above and beyond, was extremely helpful, had the perfect sense of humor to be dealing with exhausted people. U-Haul is doing such a good job we are going to buy stock in it. Didn't get the young man's name at the storage facility on Yakima Street, But a big thank you and shout out to him for making our lives so much easier on November 18, 2021!

christian matter | Expérience généraleThe email I received after paying for a storage stated that my access hours are between 5am to 10pm M-S but on Thursday 7/1/21 around 8pm I was denied access to the building. My access code would not allow me to enter to store items. I wasted fuel, time, and energy packing items and driving to the storage facility only to be denied entry. I called customer service, and after 45 minutes of waiting in queue I was told my access to the building ends at 7pm. I was also told I needed to call the local facility to inquire about 24hr access. I also called 11 times and left a voicemail the after hours contact James who did not answer his phone. It would have been nice to have all this information included in the initial email I received containing my access code. This has been a very horrible experience.

Lock should have been in unit like promised I had to leave my storage unit unattended while I drive all the way back to retrieve a lock for my storage unit.

I decided to use this facility because it was 24/7 access(supposedly...it is not) and it was down the street... I am driving from arlington where I am staying with my sister. We had to have my three kids watched and my sisters 3 kids as well and we only had the one day....get there and they say storage hours are only until 7pm....the pull in garage type doors are out of order. The access panels keep saying that access is denied. At this point its like 620pm and we still have at least 3 more loads. Im packing up anything left from a fire and looters and i only have 1 day. The person on site was actually nice and contacted the DM to ask for extra time for us(without us knowing) and let us have access until 10 pm. I also called the corporate number and they didn't really offer anything except to call the manager...But had i known any of this I would have went to public storage and paid $1 for the first month instead of 120 or whatever it was. Will definitely not be using this company again.

Over time, the indoor loading areas were discontinued and the bathrooms were locked. several times on the weekends, the main loading doors were locked, leaving us only a man door to load sofas and large furniture through. The floor was always dirty in the hallways and the carts were rarely cleaned as well. On top of that the price was raised. My wife never felt safe there. There was no direct line to contact anyone about the problems.

I couldn't access to move in on a Saturday at 7:20pm. No help from Uhual when calling, GM wouldn't answer as posted on signs on the building. Couldn't move in until Sunday Morning 9am, access doors for loading and unloading weren't working, it was raining could only use front door with 1 cart. It's a mess and un professional. Would never rent from them ever.

I leave my house at 6am to go to work and get home around 6pm so I want something with hours that allow access hours that are convenient for me. At some point the 24/7 access was taken away and I never received any notification this would be happening. With my works hours and the new access hours I could not access my unit Mon -Fri. There were many times the doors didn't operate correctly, especially the doors for the drive-in bays. I moved all of my stuff to a different storage with better access hours.

Megan Davis | Premières impressionsI'm really disappointed because when I decided I wanted to rent a unit here I was under the assumption that I was able to access my unit 24 hours a day and was a huge factor in me wanting to choose this facility but once I sign my agreement and got my unit I was notified that they changed the hours to 7am to 7pm .... with my schedule it leaves me absolutely no time to be unless to access because I'm at work during those hours if I would if known of the change I would of never rented here . And retrying to talk to customer service is a joke. Haven't been able to talk to anyone to resolve this

Jill Guinta | Expérience générale.We were supposed to pick up the trailer and 11:15am. We called the Pasco location at 11:30 to make it was there. The phone was not answered by them but was directed to the customer service line. Who ever spoke to us was very rude and said we were late picking it up and yes the trailer was there!! Guess what? When we got there the trailer had still not been turned in by the previous renters. The employee was very apologetic and explained that the trailer would be there shortly and it did arrive about 15 minutes later. The staff was very friendly and quickly washed the trailer and hooked it up to my explorer. My husband noticed an odor but he assumed it was the chemicals used for cleaning. When we got the trailer back to the house to pack up, we opened the trailer and it still stunk. We finally realized it was a very strong marijuana smell. We assumed the previous renters are to blame. Now that we have unpacked our house hold items in Tacoma they all stink of that awful smell. We could not bring those items in our house so we had to rent a storage unit till the smell subsides. The customer service at both locations and the storage unit were very professional but I was not to happy with the person we talked to at the call center.
