Tony BThe staff member that completed my return over charged me by more than $430, because he failed to record the correct mileage. I estimated 40 miles and only drive 22, but he charged me for 363 miles. That shows he wasn't paying attention. I only had the truck from 10 am (leaving your storage units) until 3 pm. I couldn't have driven that many miles and if I was moving 200 miles away, why would drive another 200 to bring it back to hickory? I would've dropped it off in another city. I've used you many times but after this experience I may go elsewhere!

Natalie SThe facility was absolutely spotless. I had the opportunity to utilize the restroom and it was equally spotless. I rented the truck in Clearwater Florida and returned it in Hickory. Two women were at the front desk during my encounter. The woman operating the right side was super nice and personable, the woman on the left side, not so much. My storage locker was easy to find and I encountered a cleaning lady mopping the floors. She was very nice and greeted me. I found the donation bin to be genius and very accommodating. Overall a very impressive operation and obviously well managed.

Elizabeth SWindshield inside had what seemed to be a sticky (Thick) melted residue from a suction cup or something of that sort. Was to the left of center so was a distraction while driving. Did not attempt to clean it off as it would prob smear and make driving impossible.
Sam GOverall a decent experience. I had reserved an appliance and utility dolly. When I arrived to the location it was brought to my attention that they had neither dolly. When asked if they would be willing to contact the other store in the area they advised that the store was not open yet. After checking hours of the other store I advised the employee that they were open and asked if he would be willing to call and see if they had the dolly's that I needed. He then stated "They might have just opened and she never gets there on time." I took this as him bashing the other employee/store in the area and he would not call on behalf of the customer.

Cynthia TNot happy with Hickory's UHauls. Had numerous rentals; experienced, equipment rented online should be readily availabel to experienced indivuals who pay completely online. Rental in Raleigh enabled select your own trailer, inspect, upload pictures to Uhaul, and leave. No rep required if expereienced and online rental. Having Uhaul select equipment for me has been a bad experience. Biggest issue for trailers, quality rims/wheel, and tires. Not happly with yall. Unfriendly Hickory Uhaul centers, specifically females. Guy are much more chill.

Dana MThis one was hard to grade because I am not the type of person that likes to leave bad reviews and that is why if you look above I still gave a good score although I had a bad experience. Also, I don't like to score somebody based on just one experience because you don't know what they are going through, but the person that help me was just so rude that it needs to be noted. I felt as though I was the employee and felt obligated to give her customer service but eventually stop trying because she would just not cheer up. She made the transaction awkward and dry and you could tell that she did not want to be there. She certainly did not want to help me. I don't know her name and even if I did, I would not list it here. I just hope that she reads this and realizes, if something is making you that upset at work take a minute, an hour, heck take the day and put yourself first and recharge. If this is just how you are then I pray God brings more joy to you and your family.

Diane M | Expérience généraleI ordered a pickup truck and front wheel vehicle tow dolly. When I arrived, I was later than the reservation by an hour. This was my fault not the facility's. I was told "The truck was in the paringlot, in the front line by the road and the dolly was in the parkinglot next to the lot the truck was in". I was told "Grab the truck and the dolly and bring it under the covered return area for inspection. There are two dollys so be sure and get the right one. The number is on the paper". He handed me the tow hitch to place in the hitch receiver on the truck. I went and got the truck and the trailer. Came back and a lady came out, had me test the lights and took a picture and told me I was good to go. I didn't expect to have to mount the hitch to the truck, or assemble the truck and trailer. Or to have to bring the vehicle to be inspected once I completed these tasks. I would have thought this would have all been done before I arrived. I feel this is extremely lazy and poor customer service.

ROBERT MThe woman was so polite and helpful. We needed to do a last minute move and the other location we tried to get a U-Haul from didn't have a person inside to allow pick up. This location saved the day we will be using it again soon when there rest of our family moves out to hickory.

Cynthia TThis location is open on Sunday which was very helpful. Customer service was excellent, but the truck left something to be desired. It was clean enough, and was 3/4 full on gas. But after driving it about 40 miles there was no water and no coolant in the truck, which overheated and had to be refilled with both once it was cool enough to touch. Luckily we were near a gas station where coolant could be purchased but if it had happened on the road we would have been stuck.

Stephen HI patiently waited in line for 30 minutes to "check in". There were only 2 service reps, so it seemed understaffed considering how long each customer before me was with a rep. The install started 1 hour later than scheduled - the install before mine was apparently difficult. Other than those 2 hiccups, the service reps were knowledgeable and the hitch is great.

They were willing to be the helpful, go-with-the-flow company to help me accomplish what I needed even as my dates changed multiple times. And I've already been telling people how your company has been the calm help in the crazy storm of other companies that don't budge!!! Teresa R | Expérience généraleThey cut my lock off claiming that it wasn't the right kind of lock to use at their facility even though I bought it from their facility.. then when I asked about they made me buy a whole new one and then tried to lie and say it wasn't their kind of lock when it clearly had the word u-haul on the lock and the keys I had. They left my broken lock and their broken drill pieces in my storage unit kicked to the side thinking I wouldn't see it. Would not recommend!!!

Please fill this only Complaint about me NOT receiving my 1st Month Free on my new Storage Unit and this office NOT honoring the Rate I was quoted online of $44,95 @ month. Please have Someone Contact me regarding these 2 issues too. Thanks

Could've saved a lot of time just calling uhaul first. Everyone else has these extra charges I wasn't okay with for small space. So that they could accommodate me!!!

However when I needed the late payment lock cut off of my unit it took the manager 45 minutes just to send someone else from maintenence to cut it off and he told them the wrong unit number so they were lost until I called them down for help. They do not answer the phones hardly ever, very unfriendly. Not satisfied AT ALL with the storage or rental part of this particular uhaul location. DO NOT AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!

I understand that I moved out the same day U-Haul received my payment but U-Haul still could have worked with me. Because of people living in units access was limited which made it an inconvenience to move my stuff out. I asked about a refund and the lady laughed and said sorry you lost it.

I would strongly recommend that there is a manual process put in place to handle customers when these issues arise. Our camper reeks of drugs and alcohol. Clothes that are kept specifically for camping were worn and discarded on the floor. Mattress was turned upside down (AN EXPENSIVE MEMORY FOAM MATRESS) THIS WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER. WE DIDN'T EVEN GET AN APOLOGY OR ANYTHING! THE STAFF WAS VERY UNFRIENDLY ABOUT IT AND TOLD US THEY WEREN'T RESPONSIBLE. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT THE SECURITY CAMERAS WEREN'T WORKING EITHER. THEY TOLD THE POLICE OFFICER THAT AS WELL. I AM ENRAGED AND MY HUSBAND IS ALSO. WE WILL BE MOVING FORWARD WITH SOME SORT OF ACTION TO HAVE THIS RECTIFIED! CLEAN UP THE PLACE. A LIGHT COVER HAD FALLEN AND WAS JUST LAYING ON THE GROUND FOR AT LEAST 3 MONTHS. NO ONE CAME TO CLEAN IT.

I got tired of coming back into the office and have been using the credit card "type" scanner. It's inconvenient to get out of my vehicle to swipe the card. However, it works.

Thomas M | Expérience généraleI have had three coaches and have stored all three at this facility. All three coaches have been moved by the personnel to let other coaches out of storage and all three were left unlocked and unplugged from electricity and. the batteries went dead. The latest incident was two days after putting my coach in storage it was moved and left unplugged so the batteries went completely dead it had to be jumped off in order to get it started. The house batteries were so dead the steps would not even work. Steve the manager did not apologize for this happening nor did he even seem concerned. He did tell me that the coaches only get 2 hours of electricity each day for battery charging, which is not enough to keep the batteries charged at least on my coach. I brought my coach home and I have no intention of using this facility again.

This made it very inconvenient to access my items when I needed to take them to my flea market booth, and affected my livelihood. Staff was rude, did not want to help us when we were stuck on elevator. Housekeeping staff was extremely rude. I have never recommended your storage area to any friends. There has never been good communication or explanations from staff to myself in the 6 years I have rented there. I was told 15amp 120v which was acceptable. Upon moving my motorhome into there was no power at the 15amp outlet. If I was told this in advance I would of continued looking for a storage facility that met my needs.

I felt unsure that I had a unit reserved when I made my reservation ("we will figure that out when you get here"). When I arrived to load the unit, the particular unit that I was assigned was not yet determined and someone "had to check" if a particular unit was available for me. More recently (this past Sunday morning), when I attempted to access my rental storage unit, the electronic clicker would not open the gate. When I attempted to use my card, the gate indicated the card was invalid. When I entered the store, the U-Haul associates at the counter indicated that there was no record of my renting a unit. They accompanied me to the unit (fortunately, I remembered the unit number) to open it. Of course, the keys to my lock worked and I was able to access my possessions. The U-Haul associate indicated that they would "take care of everything" and record my rental in the system. She did not write any of my information down (unit number, name, address, etc.), so I am not confident this will be done. I now need to follow-up to make sure my information was recorded in the UHaul system. Fortunately, I have a receipt of payment.

You're storing your stuff. Clean. Plenty of packaging material available for purchase. Moving straps and such. Good range of vehicle sizes. Gas was a bit much. I think their vehicles could use a tune-up. Used way more gas this time than a previous move back from the same place. Transmission didn't seem to change well. Had roadside assistance available though if it was needed.

Incompetent, pompous and too arrogant to accept any responsibility for his actions. I will never be back at this location and am considering never coming back to Uhaul if Uhaul is complacent with this treatment towards customers. Steve Punch is a GM, and the bar should be set higher for him as the representation of Uhaul.

Pods had unbelievable hidden charges and found out when I called to have the Pods picked up from the uhaul facility that they only picked up on certain dates and it would be almost 2 weeks until they could pick them up. I was never informed of this when I called to have Pods deliver the pods I was told to call back when we wanted the Pods picked up. Then Pods wanted to charge me for that extra time until they were picked up. They said they would credit one pod back but I had to pay the full months rent on the other pod. Steve at u haul said he would take care of everything and not to worry. Very pleased with the whole experience.

I Haul gave me a very small space that would not even hold a full size car for $34 per month. It was perfect and worked out great. I leave it there Jan-Aug and keep it at my house Sep-Dec. last December late in the month when I came to bring it back, a jet ski was in the spot I was paying rent for. Instead of moving the jet ski and giving my spot back, I was told to put it in a Another spot with no price change. That very month I was billed $54. I know these things happen so this time I went to see the local storage manager. He was short, somewhat rude, and frankly I could tell he did not care about my dissatisfaction. He did not want to give me much time and asked for my number which I gave it to him. He said he would look into it. Upon departing, he gave me his card and said if I do not hear from him to call him back. I told him if I did't hear from him I would not be calling back. I own a $5B business that is the 5th largest company in NC. we have 1800 employees. We strive to give good service but sometimes we get a bad apple and We have to replace them. You have a bad apple. I am only responding to let you know, otherwise I don't care. The rest of the staff has been amazing. I WAS a long term client

I rent trucks from them often and always have had the best experience, never any issues. I have had a storage building with them for a year. Facility makes you feel safe (not saying it still does feel a bit creepy, lol) even when on one else is there because of all the security cameras and access codes. Couple of other things I really like about this facility, they supply flat push carts and a carts that looks like the lumber carts at Lowe's (nice for moving mattress and box springs) making moving all your stuff in so much easier and less time consuming. Especially when your storage unit is on the 2nd floor! Huge freight elevator so you don't have to make a hundred trips up and down. Multiple unloading areas and unloading docks for different size trucks you can just back right on up and unload straight off the truck no ramp required. All in all I would definitely give U-Haul Moving & Storage of West Hickory a 10 out of 10.
