geoff sWhen we returned the U-Haul to West Lafayette after hours, the web site did not work to return the U-Haul. I called customer service. She accused me of refusing to use the website. She was rude, belligerent, condescending, and disrespectful. I stood in the cold outside of the drop off location after having followed the instructions to drop off after hours. The website didn't work, the app did not work . She told me that I would be charged an after hour delivery fee for bringing back after hours. The U-Haul was not due to be back until the next morning. Fortunately when I called the West Lafayette U-Haul they apologized and said they would not charge the extra fee. Both the Lebanon U-Haul and the West Lafayette U-Haul were friendly and gave excellent customer service. The call center customer service was horrible. I'm thinking Penske if I move again.

Bryan GLocation was fine but the website listing of the truck was misleading. A 15-ft truck is only 15-ft long at the very top. I was expecting the main portion of the box to be 15-ft long. The website gave no other dimensions except to call it a 15-ft truck. So moving my 14-ft long items was a challenge
Gregory Ttook 6 hours to install and wire a hitch, left the back a mess and half my trim clips were exposed! had to take the trim back out to reseat the clips myself! what a joke! DO NOT RECCOMEND

Jeffrey PI recently terminated my storage Unit, because we did not need it anymore. Apparently you pay for a month no matter what even if you leave a week later. They said they do not make any exceptions at all and wont prorate. As someone who has given Uhaul thousands of dollars over the years, i'm pretty disappointed. We will start to look at other rentals in the future Instead of going straight to u haul. I have always considered uhaul to be the best , but now that I see where I stand as a customer, I will look elsewhere and only use u haul as a last resort. The manager was supposed to call me As I created a complaintthrough the corporate Number, However I never received a call. I wouldn't be surprised if I received a call shortly after this post. I think the people are friendly, That doesn't matter if you're really just ripping off the customer.

Joseph DThe trailer was old. The tie down openings were too small to accept the ratchet straps that I had purchased from U-Haul on my previous rental, so I had to go out and purchase clothes line. One of the two bags of pads contained wet pads, which complicated packing.
Jeff MThe customer service was excellent. The truck was ready and clean for the scheduled reservation pickup time. Good job, U-Haul, for a job well done. Also, the store for check in was in very good condition, clean and organized the way a store should be. I do not like a dirty and cluttered store. Our check-out person recommended some bubble wrap and a few more boxes of which I purchased for a fair price. The move was completed in a timely manner thanks to U-Hall. The only complaint is now having a sore back!!! Thanks again, DR. BOB
DR RTPMS light was on on my 10' Van. Not a big deal but definitely would've liked to actually check the odometer before and after the trip. Other than that, great people, smooth operation, and very easy process. Merci!
Jeff CThe return check in is difficult. The instructions are not great. I was supposed to copy a bar code when I returned the truck. We wasted over 45 minutes trying to figure it out and had to call a UHAUL that was open to try and complete the process. Finally, we gave up and had the 24 hour UHaul notify the local office.

Pete JThis is the second time I've rented a U-Haul in 2 years and the 2nd time I've had issues during pick up. You guys charge a butt load of money for a resource people often have no choice but to pay for and use , for something that's already paid for. I understand it's a business, but for what I paid for I should have had no issues with pick up and yet again, even tho I made my reservation well in advance, at that last minute what I reserved and paid for wasn't where it was stated that it would be. I also received no phone call as stated I would, I simply got a text saying I had to go 35 miles out of my way to get the truck in needed. Which was not gonna work for my situation.

Robert TThe trailer emergency brake fluid was empty. After completely loading the trailer, the braking mechanism was slamming the brake forward and back. On return to rental location, they were not qualifed to repair it. It was suggested that we might have to unload the trailer in 35 deg F rain, but then found out there were no additional trailers to swap to. SErvice was called and they came out and filled the brake fluid again. It was improved but not right yet. I got it to Chicago with minimal issues, and told the drop off center of the issue.

It took a little bit of time to get to them, because there was one person and three groups of customers. So it might be good to add some stuff to this location. If it's like that a lot, anyway

Jim SHate to tell you, but this is kind of a crazy question to ask somebody that's never had this done before. Your first question should be is this your first time ever having a hitch installed or using a U-Haul service? Secondly questions should be asked about the understanding of the use or experience with the facility employees explaining the use to you. Another question might be were they able to answer your questions to your satisfaction?

Booking the unit online was a huge plus as a parent and access was easy enough. Having rented units in other cities before, knowing that the individual unit was protected with an individualize alarm was a very reassuring bonus. If the need arises again, we would not hesitate to rent another unit from this facility.

They gave me a different unit that was bigger and more expensive, and did not offer to match the agreed upon price. They gave me the first month free, which worked because I only needed it short term, but if I was planning on long term storage this would be unacceptable. I had proof that showed I had the reservation and the worker agreed.

The staff at the office was friendly and helpful when renting a storage unit. We rented a trailer at home and returned it at the U Haul location in West Lafayette - the day we emptied the unit and returned the trailer, they were expecting another 15-25 returns! But despite being overwhelmed with customers, they were again courteous and helpful. Je les recommande.

Only thing that would have been very helpful would be an email a few days before our storage reservation date directly from the local U-Haul location confirming that the facility is expecting us. It is very difficult to get through to the local facility by phone and the national customer service center can only verify a reservation and has not information on local storage inventory availability. The last thing a customer wants is to show up with a reservation and not have a storage spot.

Aloke B | Expérience généraleThe U-haul self-storage, climate controlled facilities are very nice and very clean! The rates are reasonable and I love that each unit has a personal alarm. I would highly recommend this space for short-term or long-term storage. The only negative is that the map says that the loading/unloading dock is covered, however it is not, and since I had to move in the rain (thankfully light) it was a bit of a pain. That being said I still give this place 5 stars!

When the lock that they provided failed, I was told, without apology, to hire and pay for a locksmith to remove the lock I didn't want. I was ultimately forced to arrange for the lock to be removed. I understand that in most cases, storage unit rental is fully transactional. If you are storing at their facility, make sure you get a keyed lock if your unit is outdoors. My experience, however was unpleasant and this is an accurate description of it.

We recently rented a U-Haul, and with the help of A-1 Packaging, moved the contents of the locker to S.C. Great teamwork between A-1 and U-Haul!!

At this time, I noticed a planter with artificial flowers on the floor in the corner with a clean roll of necessary toilet paper. As I reached down for the roll, the artificial flowers fell out of the planter. I saw something glossy in the bottom of the planter. It was a used crack pipe! After finishing in the bathroom, I and my fiancé showed the pipe to the uhaul rep on duty. The rep said he would throw it away. Contacting the actual uhaul store was quite difficult.

The manager gave me one from his personal parts. They made the entire experience easy. They also removed an enormous amount of the stress one may feel when doing an out-of-state move alone. Pallets and rodent trap were placed in the unit as standard, but the pallets were dirty and I was concerned about potential for bugs in them. When I moved them, spiders crawled out. I covered them with tarp and set them to the side which took up space. Pallets should be offered but not automatically placed. Timing prevented me from asking for removal.

I asked inside the office and the person at the desk told me that a lock was not included. Jill D | Expérience généraleMy first interaction with UHAUL (after it bought out the storage company) was a threatening letter which stated that they were going to sell everything in my storage locker immediately - because my credit card number had changed and the automatic payment did not go through. More recently, when it was time to move out, I showed up at my locker one evening to find a second lock installed, with a note to go by the office to get the key for it. The office was already closed, so I could not access my things. I had not been notified that a new lock had been installed. Both my first and last interactions with this company were decidedly negative. I will never rent from UHAUL again if I can avoid it.
