Arrived at site. Parked at designated location, waiting on an associate no one came out to check me in. Decided to check in a return truck through the app instead. Went inside to drop off the keys there were two associates sitting down doing nothing. Dropped off the keys they both decided to get up and go on break. Poor customer service.

Storage facility was clean and easy to use. Was a little confusing for what part of the building the room was in but once we figured that out it was a fast process.

Staff was rude because it was close to closing and would rather talk with each other. Said I couldn't drop off my truck because it wasn't in the system without them even looking. Had to pull the app open to show that this was in fact the location.

The girls at the Ankeny Uhaul off of Delaware were great! They were thorough and quick! They were very friendly and knowledgeable. One thing, I tried to do the self check in when I brought it back, but I could not get the thing to work.

10/10 WOULD recommend this location. The GM working was very helpful & kind-restoring my faith in U-Haul as a company. That girl needs a raise. She was able to fix what Bastrop & Feed Supply messed up regarding the gas discrepancy and literally made my day. After a long & tiring move, she was the angel at the end. Thank you so much!!!

I had 24hr access but any time after 10pm the alarm would go off and I work as a mobile mechanic and roadside assistance so I would get calls late in the night and I kept my tools and equipment in the unit and it would cause the alarm to go off, and the bay area was not kept clean when caty was working it seemed like all that employee would do is sit in the office.

Employee was friendly and professional and knowledgeable. She check milage and cleanliness of the truck and found no problems. I pay for 3 days and given I used the truck for only 2 days my credit card would get a credit. Hope so.

First, they identify the vans by total length. Not by box length. So a 15 footer only has a 10 foot box. Second, the prices for their insurance online is different than in store. It's nearly twice as much in store and they won't give you the price quoted online. Third, you have to estimate how many miles you will be driving the rental and pay for it in advance. If you drive less then anticipated, you don't get refunded the difference. So estimate short. Fourth, the people working are friendly enough and the vehicle I rented was in great shape. I wouldn't have hesitated driving it anywhere.

I asked the manager if she would call me and let me know if I could have a sale for my stuff out of my unit,she said she was new and would have to ask owner. She never called me back. Then I moved out 13 days early because it was the only time I had help and a trailer,before I left out of state for a month. I was also not prorated the difference back to me. Any place I have ever rented always prorated me back the difference and I wasn't under any contact.

Nobody ever answered the phone in Ankeny. 800 telephone number was horrible. Nobody could find my unit and confirm it was canceled, after I spoke to someone telling me it was canceled. Even the lady at the storage unit told me it was cancelled, she lied, you charged me again on my credit card. So I would never recommend this place to anyone!

I used the 24/7 option and had to pick up my truck after hours .. while the idea of this option is super convenient, the execution was absolutely horrible. The app sucks, customer service is helpful once you can actually get them on the phone, there were no keys in any of the lock boxes at the location I was originally supposed to pick up my truck at. I had to speak with customer service for over 2 hours to finally have found a location that had a truck and keys available.! The trucks back door wouldn't even stay closed .. and I had to stop to put air in one of the tires ! ANNOYING ! I'll never use this option again!!!

Would give negative stars if I could. Management never available, no communication from staff amongst themselves or the customer- locked my unit multiple times when unit was paid for and their automatic payment system only works sometimes- absolutely terrible

I have not had goid experinces previouly with a diffrent lication . This location is 30 miles away from the nearest location but as i said before the previous location was one of the most poorly run and organized . The locatio on magazine road is by far the best. It seemed short staffed but they were exteamly courtious and polite. The owner was extreamy knoledgeble and efficient. He moved from terminal to terminal helping his staff. I will always make the drive for his buisness. Unfoutunatly i do not remember his name.

Once this storage facility was taken over by uhaul it's service went downhill. My entire unit of things was moved without my permission, anytime I called staff wasn't very helpful and when I called to cancel my unit I had to call multiple times before it was actually cancelled. I would not utilize this facility again.

UHAUL was better than Cube Smart who originally designed the layout. UHaul had to place drains in front of downhill west facing units as they would direct water in after rain storms. When they constructed the drainage system it left a thick layer of concrete dust all over my belongings. At least the rectified the problem.

could not get a hold of anyone about moving out. also, i paid multiple late fees under this account due to the fact of my paydays but ended up paying 4-5 late charges which i found very unfair. i couldn't access mu unit all the time like i wanted. i guess i don't understand having good security survilance and not being able to access your unit 24/7. last but not least, when unpacking my boxes it seems that there was mice getting into the climate control building and unfortunately they had got into my unit and i now have multiple damaged items.

Got a 10x10x8 the website said it was drive up but it was inside between drive up units. Called and got it switched to a drive up outside.

I had to reserve my storage numerous times. 1st time on the phone, went to the location only to be told I needed to go to the truck rental location to get the storage finalized. Went to that location and neither of the workers knew how to complete the storage rental. The manager walked them through it via phone. I go back to the storage and my passcode is inactive. I called the store and the managers cell phone that was on her business card, I got no answer. Customer service did answer and told me there was nothing they could do, they also couldn't get a hold of anyone and the location was closed till the next day. Was told to contact them tomorrow. My belongings were still in the truck so I also couldn't return the truck till the next evening. The manager redid my storage via phone but refused to compensate me for the extra mileage and gas from having to drive the truck back to west Des Moines to store it overnight and back to Ankeny the next day to empty it. I went to get the map of the storage and there was still no record of me having a unit paid for or reserved. The employee called the manager again and had her walk him through it and I was finally able to empty and return the truck but I still don't know if my pass code is active, the drive thru door was open when I arrived.

I planned my day and went to pick up a truck at 7am to later open up the truck and find no keys. Talked to customer service who gave me other trucks that didn't open then wait in line to finally leave at 9:30am because the girl working there did not put the keys inside the truck.

First, raising the rent $2 plus tax 2 times in 6 months is ridiculous. Why not just be direct and raise it the $5 or $10 youre aiming for, in one shot? Much easier for auto pay. Trying to reach Nikki Newton is quite a challenge. Using her # leads to holds and forwards and disconnects without ever reaching her. And if she sends an email, why do I have to be on a special list for her to get my reply? Totally not customer oriented!

I couldn't get access to my stuff when needed due to construction when it was time for me to move. Construction workers had all carts used at time I could actually move. Workers park their personal vehicles in the building so you have to track that person down or try to figure something else out. I left half way thru the month due to moving so U-Haul gets to keep what was left of my rent paid. I find that ridiculous.

The U-Haul app and website both crashed over and over when I tried to pick up my truck. I called multiple U-Haul numbers until someone could help me. The keyword padlocks were frozen internally and really difficult to use in the cold weather. The padlock on the back of the truck was a different code than the key box, and no one gave me to code. I had to call and wait on hold for quite some time before someone could finally help me find the code. Overall it was just really frustrating and not-user friendly.

W have called to switch our unit. we tried emailing the GM, Nikki, and the email does not take from people outside of the organization. We have been by a few times and left a voicemail for someone to call us back.

It seems to be better that UHaul has taken over from Cube Smart. There were issues with maintenance under Cube Smart.

We reserved a space under Cube Smart ownership and a week later it was Uhaul. Uhaul did not honor the discounted rate we signed up for under Cube Smart. Unfortunately when we took our boat to store, the garage door opening wasn't wide enough -- go figure! Why would you have a 10x25 foot unit with a smaller door? We should have measured when we first checked out the space. The good news was that even though Uhaul didn't honor the discounted rate, the first month was free, so fortunately we were not out anything, other than a last minute scramble to find a new storage unit. Staff was helpful and did what they could to process our move out timely.

This location had just transitioned from Cube Smart, which is who we signed up to rent under. It was very disappointing when we came to do all the paperwork for our check in date that the price we had reserved under Cube Smart wasn't going to be honored. Now it's too late to find another space that will meet our needs, so we will end up paying significantly more than we planned to spend. It would have been rated higher if the price we reserved under would have been honored. Hopefully all will go smoothly during our rental period. The team who checked us in were not able to do anything about the price difference.
