Vanessa was amazing and wonderful to work with. I will recommend this location to all my friends who need it in the area
Josephine DWhen I went to remove everything from my unit I had to throw more than half the items away because they were wet. We had rain that week but my items shouldn't be wet. The manager was rude and hung up on me several times and charged me after I had canceled.

Kevin B | Expérience généraleHorrible experience related to very, very incompetent manager Vanessa Martinez. I got to the facility for my appointment and no one was in office. My appointment was set to pick up a vehicle at 8:30am. Both me and another customer were left waiting 45-60minutes for the manager to come help us. At some point, a man wanders into the office from a back room, waves, and leaves into the back room again...completely ignoring our questions about getting help. He's wearing pink shorts and a tye dye shirt like he rolled out of bed. After knocking on office door for a while more, Vanessa comes out greatly angered and refuses to let me in because she, "did not feel safe" on account of my knocking and, admittedly, pounding at one moment. I figured whoever was in the back wouldn't hear normal knocking so I knocked harder. That was enough to greatly disturb Vanessa from her lazy stupor. Vanessa marches into the office and angerly asks me if I have been the one knocking. I said yes: she should have been giving my key 30 minutes ago when my appointment was set. Vanessa opens her office window 3 inches wide and processes my driver license. At this point I have displayed no (justified) impatience with her tardiness. I have been calm and controlled. She was very passive aggressive with me, blatantly ignored my questions as she sat at her desk, and refused to answer any questions I had after I got my keys. Even the other customer who was waiting in her now late appointment was dumbfounded. There's more, but simply put: go somewhere else and avoid potentially running into this poor excuse of a manager. It put my day an hour behind and it was so unnecessary. They did not compensate for lost time.
DOMION AU-Haul has always been an excellent choice for us as we move to our new location never had any issues with anything. Your staff is outstanding and always are very helpful. Thanks for the great customer service. We appreciate it.

JANA MThis is the second time I rented a U-Haul from this very location in the last month that I have to rent one again in about 2 weeks and I want you to know that every employee there is absolutely fantastic I left a remote in the truck one time and they called me I was able to go back and get it they are nothing but nice and professional and I have already referred you to a few people. I used to rent from Home Depot and it was never this good I am a U-Haul fan for sure.

Couldn't access our storage unit after business hours even though we have a key card - what's self storage without being able to access it whenever as long as we're supposed to be there? Manager had a major attitude problem every time we reached out. At move out, the manager called us claiming we left our lock on the unit but we didn't and she wouldn't believe me until i had to send her picture proof. Gate is honestly small, doesn't work the best and was even broken at some point where they wouldn't let us have access, at first - had to be let in an entirely different way because it was an emergency. Would highly not recommend.

Yuriesky R | Expérience généraleThere was nothing I noticed that needed improvement. Although yesterday upon leaving I had forgotten a very expensive wrist watch in the pickup truck. Well when I returned this morning the staff on shift informed me he saw the watch on the cart where vehicles are returned. I was VERY pleased and impressed as usually when an item is found the person will take the item. I commented to the sales person on shift of how surprised and so very pleased of the impeccable honesty revealed as the sales rep said "at U-Haul we do not keep or steal anything we hold onto the item until the customer stops by!" I was so enthralled of his response and informed him he convinced me to return to this specific McDowell and 24th Street location. I told him I would stop by again when I need a rental. JOSEPH CI was told the storage would be available until 7pm, but it closed early without notification because they needed to repair a gate. I arranged my multiple moves I had around this closing time, with the last load to be dropped off by 6:30pm which would have been plenty of time as I had a small truck, so small load. As no one was in ofc or just wasn't answering and with no way to get in to drop off last load of night, I had to drive back to old house rental and start unloading truck for a separate load going to current rental while trying to reach someone at UHaul to assist me. The woman I spoke to could have just said, "we have another gate we can let you" in but instead went into a separate issue about the first month not being free. HUGE waste of my and movers time, all of which were completely exhausted by then. We then had to start reloading truck with atorage stuff and race over there to unload it. This caused boxes meant for load to bee house to get mixed up with storage stuff, so I now have to spend my day figuring out where movers put my stuff needed now. .

That was main downside because other than that my belongings smelled just fine and were all in the same condition after 7 months untouched, especially impressive in hot Arizona. I was able to sell a bed through Facebook Marketplace and it proved to be a good, safe meetup location.

VICTORIA P | Premières impressionsOnly con I have about this storage facility is that I reserved a 10×20 unit on March 11th, move in date was the 15th. They Said only had one left on-line. I reserved a truck and the unit for the 15th, they didn't have the truck for me, so had to pick it up a diff site, no problem. When I went to the store unit to get my unit, I was told that it was already taken although the site said one was left. I was told it was first come basis, the site never says that, so what's the point to reserve a unit on-line if it's a first come basis? Now I have to pay $100 more a month for 2 10×10 units when I reserved for only one 10×20.
Jeffrey V | Premières impressionsThis facility was not staffed for a very long portion of my two-plus years using as many as three different units, yet the rent was increased twice in the first year and again for next month. When it was finally staffed, there were changes made to my passcode after my second move-out, an error in instructions to me that resulted in a late fee being charged, and after the last move-out no refund given for the partial unused month. I now rent a much larger and cleaner space for a lower monthly rate with a different provider. I also rent a unit nearer where I now live, and they have never raised their rates and are much friendlier. I'll never use nor recommend U-Haul again. I am SO glad to finally be out of there.

Joel MI had a storage unit for about five months and didn't think there was any issues until after about four months. The general manager called me and asked if there was any food in my storage unit to which I made her aware that there was no food in my storage unit. It was strictly large furniture we were unable to bring with us and she had said they had the smell coming from my storage unit to where I then made her aware that I have had my storage unit for months and have not had any complaints about any smells until now and she said the smell had appeared a couple weeks after we had rented, but nobody told me anything, and then said she'd help me set up a U-Haul to be able to get my stuff and from that point on I had nothing but issues trying to get a hold of her so I am not really happy about that

Leandra PManagement at this Uhaul is horrible I rent from uhauls all across the valley and I just could not wait to end my lease at this location. First of all my storage unit door was broken the moment we first rented it I let management know and she said she knew about it, weeks later the door falls and completely falls off and lands on my husbands back. I contacted management which is Vanessa and she didn't really care much about the situation she later arrived and didn't acknowledge the situation I had to tell her what I wanted to happen. Soon after that she gets loud with my husband so immature I don't know who people like that get moved into management. I honestly felt like I did something wrong when ever I would approach her on a situation she would get so defensive. There was another situation where my clicker wasn't working and I kept pressing the button because that's the only way to figure out if it's working or not and I go up to her office and I hear the maybe it's working now i keep pressing it and she says "CAN YOU STOP DOING THAT" with a customer in there I was so embarrassed there is no reason to be talking to me or anyone like that. Typing this review I literally cannot even believe that I had to deal with this. In the future I might have to rent a space around this side of town again and I can just feel what a drag it would be to have to see this manager there. Not a very good feeling. Just like ghetto like if she just wants to fight I don't know I don't understand that kind of behavior. I really hope they train her better or get some one new because that was not okay. This is not even all of it I can go on about so many other things but I really don't have the energy for this. I hope she finds a job that makes her happy a smile to her life :)

They provided me with a trailer, which worked but cost a lot more in gas. Overall, it ended up being a flawless one way trip and got done, but cost an awful lot. But was satisfied at the end of my journey. So thank you U-Haul!

The general manager Vanessa has a disgusting attitude and severely lacks customer service skills, threatens customers, I'm not sure how she even made manager. Riley was fine until she followed in the footsteps of Vanessa. I had an amazing experience with Erica and Walter though. They are truly wonderful and have what it takes to keep customers coming in. I really appreciate the efforts and time taken out to deal with my issues.

When I walked into the office. I was hit with a very awful urine smell that burned my eyes and cause me to be sick for a week. I ask her what was that smell and she said "I don't sell anything". I said it smells like a cat litter box. Therefore, I ask her if she had a cat. She replied. "Yes I do". She had cat hair all over her clothes. I then had to stand outside the office in order to conduct my business. I'm allergic to cats and was sick for a week after the incident. I have never smelled anything that awful in my life. When I moved out of the unit. Your company charged my debit card for the next month along with late fees after I was out of the unit without my consent. I was a costumer of U-Haul for the past 4 years. However, I will never recommend to any of my friends. As a matter of fact everytime I'm on social media. I will make it a point to trash U-Haul. I had to move into the unit and out of the unit 2 weeks later and never had lights the entire time. The outside area was trashed with big boxes and cardboard everywhere and litter. The gate was broken and didnt open at one point. I spoke with the General manager about the lights the day I moved in. When I went back the girl who was working stated she had just gotten fired so nobody could help. Then a big guy said he was taking over management and still did not fix my lighting. Another incident occurred on 11/26/2022 --- I went to my storage unit on Saturday, 11/26/2022 and my lock was cut. Apparently, Uhaul's staff got my unit mixed up with the unit across from me that unit had not paid their monthly rent and had tag on it for not paying rent. I contacted the Uhaul on Dunlap to inform them of my lock being cut and someone else's lock is placed on my unit. I informed the service clerk that I have been paying on unit and all of my payments are up to date. This was confirmed and the manager had to come out and open my unit. When my unit was open by management, I noticed that someone had went through all of my property once again and my belongings were neatly arranged. I informed management that I did arrange my belongings in this manner; my property was not set up this neatly in this unit. Because after my unit was broken into around the beginning of this year, I left the unit in the same disarray from the first break in. The manager tried to tell me that he put the lock on because he found the lock broken. I asked if you are saying that my unit was broken into (2nd time) and if that is the case, why wasn't I notified of this; he could not answer my question, nor could he tell me when my unit was broken into. Also, I told told him that if someone broke into my unit, they are not going to take the time to arrange my property so neatly. I explained to him that it appears that my unit has been set up for auction. To make a long story short, no one with Uhaul wants to take responsibility for cutting the wrong lock as well as going through and taking some of my property. I would never rent a unit from Uhaul again. The staff are stealing from the customers. I will tell anyone never use this Uhaul on 51st and Cactus... I will also contact the corporate office regarding this matter.

Chose uhaul out of convenience not preference, these reasons are an example of why. Employees need better training on your computer system to properly close people accounts once they finish with the storage unit

I shouldn't have to go to a separate facility to take care of anything regarding my storage storage unit and even then when I have been told by the people, including the general manager at 27th Avenue and Dunlap that they would take care of it, I would receive a email, or both, 9 timeout of ten I have had to call the customer service line because I have not received any information about my storage unit and/or they have not done what they told me they would do. I even mentioned that there is nobody at the 51st Ave and Cactus storage unit facility to the general manager at the 27th Ave and Dunlap office and was told that he, the manager would make sure that there would be someone there. I've been there many times and have not been able to find anyone. I pay good money for my storage unit and if I need to get in touch with someone regarding it I don't want to have to call customer service or go to another storage facility. I should be able to get the stuff taken care of at that facility instead of having to either call or run around to make sure that it gets done and have it also waste a good bit of my time.

I find an open unit and ask if I can use that one, gain approval, noting new unit has damage to the door. I call to make sure I can switch contract to correct storage number, no follow up with new contract? Trying to leave, the gate dose not open. No information is provided. Note on gate says to check in check out but there isn't a card reader on the inside of the gate. I repeatedly ask how do I get out, am I supposed to do as the sign says when leaving, I finally ask if I'm to reach through the gate to swipe card on the card reader out in front and am told not to strain myself. It's not a strain, It's hot, I'm exaughsted, and I don't know anything about this place! Who thinks they would put thier arm through a gate thats going to move to open it???? So my stuff is there in a unit not on my contract and I'm worried because of the interactions I'm having with staff. ???? Yes, I was sweaty and stank because I had an emergency move of an adult son with special needs. The staff weren't awful but the totality of the situation was. Now I will probably have to find another facility as I don't feel my son's belongings are safe.

I hired movers for 2 hours to help me and had to pay an extra $110 for time lost because we couldn't get in, it took over 10 days to finally get all my stuff. After a week of trying I finally spoke to ANGEL DE LEON who I was told is the manager, he gave me a code to get in to my storage, and agreed to refund the $149,95 I paid for services that were most definitely not rendered, however, rather than refunding he sent me a bill for $327.01, charging me another $144,95 for the month already paid, $144,95 for April, even though I moved out in March, and $28,99 late fees for not being able to get in to move out, PLUS the $149,95 I already paid, this totals $476,96 examples of fraud, and $476,96 reasons to hire an attorney. This does not occur at storage site that is secure and monitored. Driving by yesterday, I witnessed the card and gate were still not working.

My unit was not accessible & locked on move in day, so I moved into a empty unit next to mine. Upon arrival the next day, that unit had an additional lock. I had to call, wait for someone to remove their lock, so I could access my property. Then I had to move out of that unit & move all my stuff twice. I notified U-Haul I moved out prior to the end of February but I was paid in full until then. An email was sent confirming my move out & asked another U-Haul rep to verify my unit was empty. NOBODY updated your system that I moved out. I called twice, rep said they would fix this. Then I'm sent a late notice & $145 invoice. I drove from Buckeye to unit location. My access card didn't work. (But your computer said I was not moved out). The rep said she would move me out (again) & reverse the charges. I asked for confirmation email. Still have not received it.

After being told by multiple employees on the phone that I was going to get my first month rent free if I rented a trailer, I was not given that offer once I went to the store after purchasing the trailer to sign for my unit. The lady helping me tried to figure out why I wasn't going to get my first month free was then yelled at, in front of me, by the Manager, Angel. He was very rude and unprofessional yelling at her saying he's sick of her and to get out. Then proceeded to say that I am not getting my first month free. I felt very upset with the fact I was told multiple times that I was going to get my first month free after purchasing that trailer. I was also very upset with how unprofessional that manager was acting in front of me and towards his employee. To top everything off, my rental unit was then under my emergency contact phone number and name to where I could not access my account. Having to drive back to the store location because no one on the phone could help me, i had to close out my unit, get a refund for my first month charge and then recharge my card for a new contract under the correct information. I have tried calling customer service to resolve the issue I have but continue to be transfer to someone else and was not helped!

Laurie W | Expérience générale1. Facility did not seem secure. People seemed to sneak in on bicycles. However my unit wasn't broken into from what I could tell. 2. Access was 24/7 which was nice. 3. The office was unmanned every time I ever stopped by day or night. 4. I once ran across a maintenance guy. I was struggling with my code and he asked if I needed help. He assisted me with entering my code and I was able to get in. Very nice guy super helpful. 5. My garage door seals were not actually sealing very well at all to the ground. I could tell that dirt and water had entered from previous so I set up tarps on the ground to protect my stuff. Also one of my units on the back wall has termite tunes, so hopefully none of my furniture is damaged. 6. I wouldn't recommend for most of my reasons above. On top of those issues it was IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of the location via phone. I requested more out the 21st. Next bill due the 27th. They still sent me a new bill and warned me about late fees. I had to contact Uhaul traffic for them to reach out to one of the storage higher ups to handle it. Very frustrating and over the top for what should've been simple and easy to end my storage needs.

The only problem is the gate doesn't open sometimes. I had rented a trailer and hired help to assist in my moving, but the gate was never opened. That is in my opinion the only problem with this facility… The gate other than that the staff is amazing and caring, and as mentioned before Natalie and Rob Packwood are amazing and friendly people. Not at all their fault the gate doesn't operate as it should.

When I first purchased a storage unit here, the lady who was speaking to me and was telling me that they are very willing to work with me if ever need be and what not... Well that wasn't necessarily the case after a while. I had fallen down on my luck, and lost my wallet with quite a bit of money inside and wasn't able to even pay my rent let alone a storage unit. So I had spoke to a gentleman there and asked if there was any way I can make just a partial payment with what money I did have on me at the time, (I had $50 out of a $70 bill) and was told that they do not accept partial payments right now. I really wish that you guys would have been able to work with me because as a result I ended up having to get a loan on my title just to be able to pay my storage so all of my personal and private possessions won't get taken. Now, I completely understand that this U-Haul is under absolutely no obligation whatsoever to try to work with me or to accept a partial payment... But I would have really found it useful had this U-Haul been able to work with me and just let me be late on my bill, or make a partial payment until I could come up with the rest. So after I paid for that month, I took all my stuff out the following month and chose to go to a different storage location. In terms of cleanliness, maintenance, accessibility, and just overall experience with the storage itself... My experience was absolutely wonderful and I think that this storage unit is great.

When I finally got the attention of the worker he opened the gate rolling over my left foot (while wearing sandals) and also left some damage to my vehicle. Instead of using his remote to stop the gate his reply with a smile was "quick put it in reverse". He then proceeded to "wipe" the scratch marks off my bumper and claim nothing happened. Thankfully my foot is just bruised really bad while insurance is handling the damage to my vehicle.
