Your customer service when picking up was not good. You had one employee working, no trucks ready, none of the radios were working so there was no communication between front of house and yard. It took approximately 1 hour to actually get the keys for the truck. I booked this truck 2 months in advance and no one there was ready for the pickup time I indicated on my reservation. The rental was fine but the process to get the truck was really bad.

I tried calling the Barlow location to ask a couple of questions before. Was put on hold for 20 mins. Hung up and tried again and was put on hold again. When I arrived, i stood in line for 45 minutes for a reservation. There was no sense of urgency at all to help the customers, and no apology for the wait. More employees and a better system needed.

Used the mobile app for pick up which didn’t work, finally got it to work, the brought the truck out to me and as I was about to get in was informed it was given to another customer. I then had to wait an additional 20 min to get a truck. The lady inside was over the moon helpful and should be praised but everything else about this was extremely frustrating.

Understanding that monthend is very busy, there was a lineup that took 90 minutes to get through, probably 40 clients while I was there. When given a booking time what does that mean as I showed up at that time not expecting a line as much as it was. The service agent was polite, but didn't focus on me alone, but was interrupted many time to help other clients. I was about to make a payment when she went off to help another for about 5 minutes. I remained patient, but she should have finish me before going off.

Wait times in lineups are ridiculous for starters, then I rented a van with a car tow dolly for a 1 way trip. I gave the model and make of the car and told them it’s an automatic 4WD to which they said a tow dolly would work. I paid for one with the van and basically had no direction on how to get my vehicle on because if they were to help they become liable. A guy did help a bit but he was very reluctant because of this. Once I got everything to my work, a coworker informed me that if I used the tow dolly it would destroy my transmission as they aren’t meant to tow 4WD’s. I took the tow dolly back and asked for a refund to which the guy said yes, but the drop-off location would reimburse me. I move provinces and arrive at the drop off spot where they say that they can’t reimburse me as they are an independent location and to call the first location for my refund. I do that and am put on hold for 40 mins before I hang up and try again. When they answer, they don’t even wait for a response before instantly putting me on hold again. I call again and they don’t even say hello, just press hold. Finally I call the 1-800 # in which a lovely lady finally was able to help me and get me my refund. Overall I’m very disappointed in the level of customer service with exception of the 1-800 number person. I would not recommend this location.

The person that hooked up the trailer to my truck was not knowledgeable at all, 20 minutes after leaving the trailer unhooked from my truck, I found out after that the ball mount was too small for my hitch. I was honest with the person who was helping me that this was new to me and that I required help to ensure I left safely. When I brought the trailer back I was the one that unhooked it after waiting for approx. 10 minutes for someone to come. They didn't seem concerned that I did this myself.

The location has many vehicles. This is great. But the team is not able to manage well the influx of customers on busy days. Given that most trucks are previously reserved, the influx of business should be highly predictable. There is an obvious lack of process to deal with this, which leads to long wait time that appears to frequently cut in reservation time for the customer. I made the online checkin to save time, and from what I could see, this did not save much time since the clerk had to go through all the same steps with me. I am surprised that uhaul does not now have a process that looks like some rental car services where you could checkin online and just pickup your car with minimal to no interaction with personnel.

We waited in line for 2 hours. There were 2 people at the counters and the process was extremely long. The line was out the door. This left us with less than the expected time we needed to move and trouble with out moving. Terrible customer service. Please go to a different location or choose a different moving rental company.

Absolutely worst customer service at Barlow location in Calgary. 1.75 hours to get the haul, with a reservation already made. The woman at the counter belittled me and made me get the 50$ insurance which I said I didn’t want. Not to mention she was very rude to everyone in line. The guy who grabbed the truck took 30 mins then came back without a truck. DONT GO here trust me anywhere else will be 10x faster.

Had to wait an hour to get my trailer, and when I got to my destination I found out that the lights in the trailer didn’t work. Price was good, but the “Heavy duty” trailer doesn’t come with any of the heavy duty connections. The electrical connection was 4 pin, and the chains were too small to fit the hitch on my Porsche Cayenne.

I think that the staff is very friendly and helpful however after waiting 30 minutes to check in ( understandable because its month end ) it took another 20 minutes to find a unit that was functioning correctly. I would suggest that units that need servicing be marked off or moved to a specific area on the lot so time is not spent hooking up to a trailer that doesn't have working lights only to have to disconnect and hook up to another. If the additional 20 minutes after check in didn't happen, I would have given a better review. But I can't refer people to them when there are units potentially being offered that are potentially problematic.

We got there for our 10 am pick up only to wait in line for an hour and a half with no indication of when we would be receiving our van. Thankfully the gentlemen in front of us in line figured out we could check in online, it wasn’t working on either of our phones for another 20 min and finally we were able to access it. No one in the huge line up seemed to know that was and option and nothing was mentioned by the staff even though this would have majorly sped Up the process. Long lines not enough people working at 730. Truck dirty inside. One of the staff female extremly rude almost walked out. Just not the attitude someone should have. I would fire my staff if they had a attitude like her. I am a assistant service manager at major repair facility and that does not cut it. Waited to pick up after waiting in lime for 30mins for another 30mins to get my rental that was not even ready. Then upon return at least half an hour to get it back to them one return in front of me. Truck not safe needs major front end work also suspension work.

Literally the second worst customer service I've ever received anywhere I've ever done business.. The absolute worst was at a Uhaul in Edmonton. This survey is a joke because the only way to fix your problem is fire your C-Level Executive and do a house cleaning in every single Uhaul outlet. For Uhaul, Bad Customer Service is how they do business. As a customer you're a piece of crap who is only there to fill their pockets. It would take me an hour to type all of the ridiculously pathetic things that occurred during my visit. If there was somewhere else I could get a trailer this weekend I'd go elsewhere. The worst of it is, after treating me like a sweaty piece of crap (customers don't deserve AC while they spend their hour in line even though they pre-booked), I got treated like I was a substandard douchebag by the person who finally helped me. Zero explanation or discussion about the rental, tried to add insurance that I'd already declined on line, and then, because I paid by debit, charged me $60 for a $38 rental. Why? Because I paid debit. "You'll get a refund IF YOU COME INTO THE STORE" even though she knew I'd be using their 24 hour drop off. A bunch of thieving slime balls with no respect for anyone but themselves. Disgusting. To be clear, I wasn't the only one who was treated like crap. The manager also treated us like she was herding cattle. Seriously, DON"T RENT FROM UHAUL. RUN THE OTHER WAY. This survey is a complete joke because their service has been terrible for years. A little venting is all it will come to. U-Haul - Where every customer is a BAD customer. U-Haul - where you're only there to give them your money. U-Haul - Number 1 on my Companies I hope FAIL this year. Fire your CEO, and all of your employees. Change the name, and start over.

I rented a 6 x 12 trailer with ramp. The lot attendant did not hook the trailer up to my truck properly. upon loading the trailer it came dislodged from the ball dented my tail gate, and crushed my license plate, and damaged my bumper. when i returned to the location where I rented the trailer I discussed what had happened with the manager, and was told that they have to do their investigation, and someone would get back to me within 48 hours. U-haul you need to make this right, and fix my truck.

Very happy with the prices, this was my first time with uhaul. The girl on the phone was a total sweetheart, which I badly needed that day after losing my work trailer in the height of busy season. We had a laugh and that made my day. Please thank her again for me. She was extremely patient in explaining the way things work there, and I really appreciated that. You know, over all, that girl on the phone being kind and understanding in my circumstances and calming me down will be what I remember most about your company.

Equipment was top notch but customer service was extremely bad. I booked a trailer and the day I booked it for, I was running a bit late. Tried calling the store and no one picked up. The next day I went to pick up the trailer. The girl at the counter kept ignoring the phone. Constantly checking her cell phone. I pointed out to her that I was trying to call yesterday but no one picked up, just as she is letting the phone ring non stop right now. The only saving grace is that the equipment was good. Make sure the trucks are road safe - like seriously this is critical. Hire staff that do not argue with clients. Don't advertise the pre-check in as being quicker. It still took me 30 min to get through - and they still tried to rip me off by charging me double. Terrible experience.

I was happy with everything else except the day I was moving my stuff out (June 22nd 2019) when I met a very rude and unprofessional associate by the name Valerie. I am African Canadian and I feel she treated me with racial bias, she called me ‘ not a regular person’ just because I had forgotten my unit no! This was in front of all other employees and customers, I lost it and called her names after that. I do not think this person is a good representative for your otherwise good business location.

The service at this location was the worst service I’ve ever had from anybody in the service industry. The person on the initial rental did not know how to use the system. Once he was advised by a peer what to do, he chose to ignore his peer. It took 30 minutes trying to pay for our booking and get on our way. Upon return we drop the trailer off in the yard and had to go around back to find three people having a break to determine what the return process was. We were told to go inside and there we four people waiting for service and one group being served. We waited about 20 minutes to see a young man who is unnamed because they don’t wear nametags and he told me he could not find my contract and I could just leave without any proof that the trailer was returned. I informed him what the yard attendant told me and he told me that she does not work directly with the trailer rentals and does not know what she’s talking about. Upon arguing with the fella I gave him both attendance direct feedback and went out to the yard where the British lady who gave me the advise asked what was going on as I was still there. I told her about the conversation and she took me back inside to get me the associated paperwork. She was extremely helpful. A second attendant sat down at a computer and he could not find the contract either. Within 30 seconds she pulled the contract up on her phone that they could not find and the return paperwork was issued. If it was not for her it would’ve been a completely disastrous experience. I would recommend this facility of U-Haul be permanently closed and turned into a parking lot. Stephen

I had called Uhaul on Friday to book the truck for 24 hours on following Tuesday. When I went to pick up the truck, they said its not available for 24 hours. This resulted in me having to change my schedule and movers which created a lot of inconvenience for me and my family. Very poor management.

The service received when returning the vehicle is unacceptable. There is a total disarray with vehicles all over the place. No one around or cared to guide you through the new mobile phone returning process. No one explained prior to returning that the process is completed over the phone. On top of that the final bill indicates an excessive charge on mileage count. I returned the vehicle with the reading at 30013, but the final charge was made at 30024. This does not give me any confidence in U-Haul services. It is disappointing to say the least.

I rented the truck from 5pm to 11pm. Nobody told me anything about the after hours return policy. I returned the truck at 10:50pm, but I could not do the check out because it was only done online. Due to the fact I was moving and also changing my phone plan, I had no data on my phone. I called uhal and was told that the only way to return the truck was online and I couldn’t do it over the phone. I tried to connect to uhals wireless and it was not working. I went to the closest McDonalds to do the checkout online using their wireless and found out I had to share my location and had to be at U hauls location. I gave up and just dropped the keys in return box and hoped that uhaul would not charge me extra and fortunately they didn’t. There should be another way to do after-hour return without phone data. I mean, some people are new in Canada and may not have their phones set up yet. At least wireless should be working properly at their branch.

First trailer had both rear gate lock pins bent and could not remove them to open rear gate on this motorcycle trailer. This was found after trailer was hooked up to truck and doing final checks I found this problem. Trailer was switched out for another one , I lost time. Equipment needs to be checked more thoroughly manner.

I had a vehicle booked for 10am on Friday the 21st, I ended up not having the proper payment method, soon had to go home and get the proper payment, that was ok but all of this running around took up the better part of two hours, thus taking hours off the end of my 8 hour rental term, a few hours into my rental term I called in and told the attendant about the situation and asked if I can bring back the truck a couple hours later, they said yes but it will be another 29$, being in the situation I agreed as I needed to get the move done. I just feel that they should have kept it as the original 8 hour term but instead they tacked on the extra hours to make it a ten hour term even though I turned in the vehicle before 8pm. I hope this all makes sense and I would prefer to see better customer financial ease and fairness to the consumer. Thanks

1) the smart phone app is glitchy and did not work, it took me over 30 minutes to get my truck; 2) the trunk was not located where the app showed, it was actually in the compound; very frustrating; 3) the password for the lock was not correct; when it wouldn't open and i asked for help, i was told that the password was actually one that i was not given. I would not use the app again. it is faster to go to the desk and get the truck from there.

Maybe have a sign stating no dogs allowed. I was almost completed my transaction after waiting at least 10 minutes in line, when the “manager” lost it on me for having my dog (4 month pup) with me. We had just flown into the country the night before and had no vehicle to leave her in. I was asked to leave or tie up my dog outside. The person behind the counter stated they didn’t even know I had a dog with me.

My original reservation was to be picked up at Sunrise Gas I'm the northeast. The owner at that gas station is extremely rude and ignorant. He mocked myself and my friend and refused to give us our rental as we were 15 minutes late. I tried to call him before our pick up time to say we were running late due to my kiddos, and when we arrived the door was locked so we had to stand outside and wait for him to unlock it. He laughed at us, and banged on the window as we left, he could clearly tell we were stressed as he told us he cancelled our truck rental. He could have handled that situation alot differently but choose to be a complete jerk to us. When I called uHaul and explained the situation, we were apologized to and told they would deal with the owner of the gas station. uHaul also got us a truck within an hour at a different location. And also is reimbursing me for my rental die to my horrible experience. uHaul on Barlow were extremely professional and helpful.

The computer system seems to let you down. The reservation was there, the truck was ready but having to take a picture of the drivers licence didn't work well and had to be done multiple times. This caused a backup and lots if frustration. The personnel did a good job with what she had to work with.

When I dropped the 15 ft van off, staffs aid they were busy and that they would email the receipt. Nobody checked the van or fuel. The fuel I had just filled 1 block away. When filled the tank it took 5 dollars I had driven 21 miles.When I got the receipt uhaul had added 11.64 cents for fuel charge. I will never trust another u haul ever

This was not the location I wanted to go to. However it is the one I had to go after the center street location did not have the equipment I required. If you are going to have an on line reservation feature make sure the locations have the equipment the customer requested online. Side note the center street location was not very professional. This is how brands lose a positive image.

I am very disappointed with the customer service at this location. The management team of this location were very condescending/rude however I was treated very good by Uhaul customer service manager after I complained by calling the main Uhaul customer service line. My problem was regarding the reservation policy at this location. I booked my reservation three days in advance and received a confirmation by a call and an email was sent to me to guarente my reservation from 5pm to 5pm-next day (24hour). However, when I went to pick up the truck I was informed that my reservation was only a random confirmation and not a framed booking. The manager and assistant manager informed me that they cannot process my reservation and I have to return the car by 12pm or otherwise I will be charged penalty fees which includes the fees of other people reservations. Also, when I said that I am going to complain to the customer service, they told me that my complains would come back to them and be ignored.They even claimed that Uhaul online reservations are invalid and the advertising of up to 24hours reservation is also invalid. The reservation is only decided by supply and demand chain which they were keep telling me about. I was going to avoid the service however i was limited to moving constrains by my building management where I confirmed my booking with them upon recieving Uhaul booking confirmation. Otherwise I was going to lose 100$ for an elevator booking + possible penalty from my building management. LASTLY, I contacted Uhaul customer manager and she listened to my complain and fortunately understood my circumstance, she was very professional and respectfull she managed to extend my booking and upon dropping my truck an employee offered me 20$ discount and treated me with an excellent manner. Ref# complain: 2258819 for further reference. Again, that was the worst experience in my life, hopefully Uhaul change the management at this location and care about customer satisfaction.
