The trailer stunk like marijuana and it was clear no one checked this. Now our items all stink like weed. Not acceptable

ALEXANDERR B | Expérience généraleWe had wanted to reserve an 6X12 cargo trailer but were told there was no availability for Sunday so we reserved an 6X12 utility trailer at another location, pick up was to be noon on Sunday it never became available. We scrambled to find another trailer and discover ther WAS a 6X12 cargo at Barton. The other location never did come through for us - no call no explaination. Seems a bit of a run about! Ultimately we were able to complete our move but this certainly added more stress to an already stressful day, and made our daylight move stretch well into night.

Larry BI picked up the U-Haul from the U-Haul store But drop off was awful , I was supposed to receive money back at drop off but the guy at ninis convenience store it telling the lady who work at U-Haul that he didn’t have a device on him so why have a drop off location at that store , I recommend to anyone do not drop your truck at that store , now I have to wait 3-5 business days to receive my money back according to head office of U-Haul! (Unbelievable)

When I came back with no damage and gas back to where I started another 13,75 came up on my credit card. The employee didn't know why I was being charged considering every thing was good. Can you please explain the extra charge . No a big issue 13,75 but should have been charged on my first payment . Truck was also back well before it needed too . From 9:30 until 12:30 pm . Overall still a great rental from U-haul . Merci

robert lI rented a van on Saturday morning and it was filthy. The dashboard and the cup holders were filthy with spilt drinks and crumbs and evrywhere. Does U-Haul not clean there vehicles anymore like they did before? I was not impressed at all. The back of the van was also filthy with what looked like sawdust all over the floor. I was charges $180 to drive in filth. If this is the way U-Haul looks after its vehicles, than I might be renting my vehicles from others. I would recommend you have someone looking into the cleanliness of the vehicles before they are rented out. NOT IMPRESSED!

Erika PI couldn't access the storage unit to unload my stuff. I tried calling the intercom to get help but the numbers pressed were not working. So I was not able to access the storage unit. I will have to come back in the morning to unload my stuff.

robert lYour server was rude ther was little bit of dirt on the rubber mat.in the back of the van it took less a minute to clean it he threatened to charge me extras if didn't clean it and then as l was rinsing the mat he raised his voice and said how you like it if someone bring the van back in that condition he was a total jerk about the situation the thing is l have given uhaul lots of business over years and never have l experience the rudness before he could have more polite when was taking to me and my son instead he decided to be standoffish its good thing he doesn't work for me cause I would not let him talk to customers that way

Christine DThe time it took & receptiveness of questions that I had already provided answers to when I booked online. Maybe once you have a booking go over the unit & park it in a designated spot & when the customer arrives have them go out and inspect it. Then meet them at the unit and if customer has no concerns send them on their way. I realize a vehicle would be a little more intense but for a trailer the time spent could be a little more streamlined. Maybe one of the questions when booking a trailer could be if the person renting is familiar with pulling a trailer to save both parties some time & effort.
Tim NThe gas tank should be full and ready for a trip. Not having to stop for gas as soon as you get going. The cab overhang leaked so all the boxes were soaked on the bottom which made it difficult to remove them! The drop off location was not correct yet there was a u haul sign in the window. When I called dispatch she didn't know about the location change. If someone wasn't doing renovations at that location I wouldn't have known where to drop it off. Big business! Not very organized! Won't recommend. Truck was filthy on the exterior!

It "should" be the perfect place to rent equipment... however the knowledge and ability of staff on my recent visit was terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone because of the difficulty in transacting a trailer rental.
daniel mMy wife and I rented one of your utility dollys, over the phone we were told the price, but when we got to the store we were told that we had to pay a 60 dollar deposit and the price of the rental would come out of the deposit. We took the money for the deposit out of a bill because your employee never said anything about a deposit over the phone. We used the dolly all day and when we returned it, we expected to get the rest of the money back, but no again your employee didn't tell us it would take 2 to 3 days to have the money returned to us. So that now completely screws over the bill we took the money from that we could have covered when we got the money back that same day. So I'll will never ever go to any Uhaul company again you take your misinformed, bull shit lieing company and it employees and shove them where the sun doesn't shine. If I need to move something I will take a shopping cart from Walmart before I walk in one your uhaul locations again....ps I'm still waiting for that money to be returned.

Sarah W | Online Move InWe had a regrettable experience dealing with a storage facility at 2275 Barton St E in Hamilton, Ontario. It started from us renting a 10'x15' storage unit on August 20, 2023. No one informed us that this would be a "split" unit containing of two smaller units until we filled one of the units (10'x10') and realized we don't have enough space. We were informed that there is a second smaller unit (5'x10') is part of this rental agreement. While that was an inconvenience, we were prepared to live with it. However, when we opened that unit to put our items, we noticed a pervasive and foul odor in the unit. We reached out to the staff at the counter and was informed that we need to contact the facility manager. We called and left a voice mail to Colin Weese, and after not receiving response, we emailed him on Wednesday September 6, 2023. The lack of response was deeply disappointing, especially given our efforts to engage with the company in a constructive manner. After waiting for a few days and not getting a response, we approached a front counter again on September 10th, 2023. We only asked to exchange a location of the small units as our larger units was already full and we would not be able to move our stuff ourselves and could not afford to pay movers. Front counter staff informed us that the only options available to us: move our stuff from both units to a different location; stay in the existing units, or move out of units. We explained that due to the health issues we are not able to move stuff ourselves, and cannot afford paying movers, and both alternative options would require us to go to external movers to complete this task. However, front counter staff refused to work out a solution for us constantly making reference to the "system that would not allow us to switch only one unit". We insisted to discussing this matter with the manager, who only confirmed that these are the only two options available to us as an alternative to stay in the existing units. We explained that due to our health issues we are not able to make this move ourselves; our plea to the manager to be compassionate and find a resolution left unanswered. Our encounter with front counter staff on that day only exacerbated our frustration. The employee we interacted with was not only unprofessional but also displayed a complete lack of courtesy. They used phrases like "let me finish," "you don't understand," and "I know what I'm talking about," and raised her voice during our conversation. We've been a loyal customer of Uhaul for many years, and have never been treated this way before. We regret choosing this location for our storage needs.

Thankfully we noticed, called, and it was corrected promptly. Furthermore, we read on Facebook that the facility was broken into and 5 units were entered and stolen from, which was after we emptied our unit. We consider ourselves lucky and this is what makes me reluctant to recommend the UHaul Storage. But other than that our experience was great and the staff, especially Colin, was so helpful, professional, and friendly.

Making us unable to use the dollys provided and move items in and out easily. Our locker and the hall too it was also very poorly lit, not able to see of what we were doing or moving in our unit. I had emailed about my concerns and asking to move to a ground unit and no response. We did not stay longer than our free month period because of this. Took our belongings elsewhere.

My only concern is the placement of the "Arm/Disarm" login. I saw a few people, myself included, keep going to the keypads closer to the sliding doors. It probably isn't possible to change the location of the sign in pad, therefore I would suggest a large sign above it. A sign reading LOGIN AND OUT HERE on the wall above the keypad may eliminate a lot of confusion for new customers, and not take the employees away from their other duties to assist us. I would definitely recommend your site to others.

Everybody bent over backwards to go the extra mile to make my business with Uhaul go convenient for me and very pleasant. My special thanks go to the manager, Tom. He turned a couple of potential problems for me into problems solved! I walked away on Jan. 9th from UHaul only with gratitude and not one regret of having dealt with anybody there.

I threw everything out as a result. I complained twice to management about it and was told someone would contact me but I didnt hear anything from them. When I asked if they had a problem with mice, they said that they had only had one other incident that month despite there being mouse traps in the corridors. I think that this was an absolute waste of money, a disgusting storage unit and poor customer service.

Paid for it and 3 days later got a letter stating I was late on payment and would have to pay a late fee! Went in and was told not to pay as I already had and that the company does this all the time! Received another notice maybe a week later stating the same! Was told by counter person (who was friendly) that it was NOT the correct price and to not pay. At the start of next month I received another letter stating same price, so I went in and was told by the same person he would talk to manager and see about getting the price I was quoted on the internet. I was told by him that if the manager would not agree (which I was told NEVER HAPPENS) that I could move out and not be charged. A week later when I did not get a answer, and looked at my credit card statement I had already been charged! When I went to see what's up, I had the unpleasant experience of meeting the manager one (Colin Reese) who was nothing like any of the other people who worked there. He was rude, ignorant and unwilling to listen. His only and final answer was that (I was wrong, and that's that!) I told him I was not happy and would leave a review. His words were I DON'T CARE! DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO! For sure do not go to this place, but if you must definitely don't deal with the manager as you will get nowhere!

BRIAN J | Expérience généraleMy rating is average because I was told my unit was being demolished and would have to move ASAP. I arrived at 3pm and talked to office. I was told they were transferring me in a U-box and would get one delivered to my storage unit. After about 30 minutes the guy drove up saying they were just figuring out what they are doing and would just be a little while longer. After 2 hours of waiting I went back into the office to find out what was going on. The guy called his boss and was told they are moving me to another unit not a U-box. I was told the first month was free but I needed to pay the 18 insurance fee. I had forgot my wallet but need to come in to pay my other unit in a couple of days. I had to then go back unpack my truck of the things I was bring home and repack with the boxes to move into the new unit. I received an email a couple of days ago saying that there was a 15 late fee on thec18.00. After being left sitting for over 2 hours you people are trying to charge me a late fee on 18 this is ridiculous.

The storage was book and was told given the pass code to enter after hours but the MOST important part they left out was that the access code wouldn't work until after 24hrs, hence why we were locked out. We had to leave all our furnitures in the truck, park on a street. We returned May 21 to store our stuff and was told that, no elevator, so we we forced to cancel the storage and had no were to store our furnitures. Just horrible and very incompetent service.

Some of our belongings were damaged (carpet) and no one bothered to help nor provide some sort of compensation. Will never use uHaul again for any kind of service. Every facility may have its challenges however, customer service is extremely important and no one seemed to care. Perhaps further training is required with this location staff. If there is still no further follow up after this review, further reviews will be made available online including evidence (pictures taken).
LISETTE F | Expérience généraleThe person that was working should not have been working they didn't seem like they wanted to be at work I asked for a lower unit I have a lot of items to put in the storage I waited 40 minutes to get served once I obtained my key I went around the facility to enter my unit and realized it was on the top level I went back to say that the unit is not on the lower level and I was told that you couldn't do anything about it that I would have to go around the building and wait in line again after lugging in all my valuables onto a dolly from my vehicle into the facility and it was very frustrating therefore due to the attitude of the employee I decided to cancel and I did not go ahead with renting a storage unit from U-Haul however I did use the truck for that day to bring my valuables and stored items to another facility however the vehicle rental division as always was excellent but your staff on Barton Street is very young and they don't want to be there when you work somewhere you have to take pride in your job and make the people feel welcome and listen to the people when they are making requests because we the customers are the ones who grow your business to a large successful business that you are today
