Person working the desk used this experience as an opportunity to lecture myself and my staff as to how operations work. There was a simple misunderstanding that could have easily been addressed and corrected without the poor attitude.

Excellent for now but had trouble with a U-Haul company before but I like this location better

I reserved a small unit, but when I arrived the manager told me they don't accept reservations (despite booking it through uhaul.com). He then charged me twice as much for a larger unit without any apology or civilness in general. I was also scheduled to drop off my UHaul trailer at this location. He then told me they don't accept trailers there (despite Uhaul scheduling making the arrangements). After a few minutes of wavering on the fence about this, he finally accepted my trailer. Throughout all of this, the General Manager was mean. The kicker of this is that I am a grown adult and this is a college town. I'm worried about how he treats young undergraduates. Despite having great service and my expectations surpassed in all my previous UHaul experiences, this one made me question my choice.

I was renting something the morning after Christmas and had my worst customer service experience. This was my first time getting a trailer from Uhaul, so I'm not an expert at hitch systems nor do I know the terminology. The man working the desk could have been more patient and helped me understand what was needed to tow the trailer. Instead, he was rude and spoke to me as if I should have been the expert that he is in trailers. If I knew I needed to be a professional before renting from Uhaul, I would have considered using another place. Turned out my vehicle was prepped for the trailer anyway, so his smuttiness was completely unnecessary. Trailer was great. Online return was easy. Customer service was horrible.

Owner was unmasked. Rushed me though the checkin process. I found a used mask in the vehicle. I was charged for a cleaning fee without explanation. Checkout didn't work because the website was down and I was charged 20 bucks for it.

Maybe follow County's rules about wearing masks? Both the gentlemen who checked me out and checked me in were not wearing masks. Shame that it happens in Madison City. And in an International company.

Ordered a van online. Showed up to pick it up and they said they didn't have it for me. Tried to give me something smaller but that wasn't going to work. Then they tried to make me go to another location which was 20 mins away but I was dropped off and didn't have a way to get there. After 45 mins of going back and forth, they finally gave me a truck slightly bigger. While I paid what my original reservation price was, the experience wasn't great to say the least.....

Front desk person was extremely rude. Truck was dirty and smelled like vomit. Drove only 8 miles but needed to put 5 gallons of fuel to move the needle back to where it was when I started..felt completely ripped off. Will avoid this place and Uhaul in general.

We were shocked at the "dual businesses" being run at this location on Saturday, October 30, 2021. One employee - god bless her - was short staffed with a line out the door to rent trucks that morning at 9:30 AM. However her "boss" or counterpart was busy in the parking lot taking cash from cars who were using the lot to park for the Badger football game. He was more devoted to that portion of the business that day. The young lady was clearly overwhelmed and she called him for back up help at least twice. He was busy stuffing cash into his pockets that day instead. Very disappointed. And the truck we ended up with could barely shift out of gears.

Don't greet them with a "put on a mask"! There has been no isolated, identifiable Covid19!! If you want to wear a mask, thinking you're protecting yourself then wear it. It's your choice. Don't push it on me IT'S NOT A LAW!!! Forcing a medical device on me IS AGAINST the law. WAKE UP!!!

Last time I checked out after Parking in the designated area. After waiting for 5 minutes I had to go inside to finalize the checkout. The signage should reflect the change in the process.

The automated phone response system was not helpful, nor was the automated chat online. The wait times were long to talk to a living person. I can handle the type of questions they the kinds of questions they are designed to answer by going online. It is only when I have a concern that is not obvious--a desire to return my truck to a different location in one case, a lost object that might be in the truck I had already returned in another. Once I reached actual people on the scheduling and assistance lines, on the other hand, I thought they were quite helpful. U-haul should hire more of them.

Ensure the correct and paid for equipment is in the truck. Ensure the engine is regularly maintained so the check engine light doesn't come on 1 mile into the rental.

The location was WAY understaffed and wait times were incredibly long, despite having a reservation. The online confirmation / process did not function properly, and the customer service staff member was clearly overwhelmed with customers.

Very bad experience. The last time I laughed with you, they transited me with the miles. I recommend that new customers should take a picture of miles before and after. I didn't do 20 miles and I got 100 miles. Or there is how to claim because everyone says they feel it but they can do nothing to help. The attention in this office leaves much to be desired from the manager to the employees. I will never use that office again. Bad, bad, bad.

No blankets in the truck. Barely any staff available to help customers. I had to return to the store to get blankets and had to flag someone down outside as the store was empty. Uhaul should also do better to notify customers of exactly the documents and process involved in the online check-in process. You can only check-in when your phone's GPS shows you are at the store and I only then found out that you need at least two contacts available to receive a phone call at that exact time, or you need to somehow know to carry your passport around with you.

Dolly was left in truck by previous user. Additionally, key drop location was in a confusing location (different building than pick up), and the picture showing where it was completely inaccurate. When I called a representative they were not helpful, put me on hold and eventually hung up on me without warning.

The app is broken. I was unable to upload a picture of the odometer to return the van, and was forced to return it late while I troubleshooted the issue. I ended up logging into the website and returning the vehicle there, which worked fine. The site appeared understaffed. When I came to pick up the van at 3:30-4pm, there were only two employees struggling to keep up with the needs of peak move-in season.

Only complaint I have is that I had to walk into the U-Haul facility to have my question answered. The phone tree for this store blocked me from reaching a live human. But once I interacted with a live human from U-Haul, things went very well.
