Disappointed in my first 2 encounters with UHAUL reps. Made a reservation days in advance, only to learn they had no veh when I arrived. Sent to another place who had the same response. 3rd/last rep was Courtney Ritz at this location who was wonderful and apologized for the first two encounters. We had a terrible experience. 24 hours before pickup, we were called to tell us the closest location was going to be 35 miles away from the one we picked. After 20 minutes on the phone, the person found us a truck a little closer to the original location, great! We left early in the AM to pick it up and when we got to the store, the truck was apparently not one they can give us because it had to come back to the pick-up location but what we reserved was a one way truck from Tampa to Sarasota. After 45 minutes in the store, we finally negotiated that we would bring back the truck for a discount. Originally, they wanted us to bring it back AND pay for the return trip that we didn't want to do. So not only we were giving up 3 hours of our time having to drive back and forth but we were told we'd need to pay extra. The customer service rep did their absolute best but the manager she called didn't want to budge and really left her out to dry with the inflexibility and a ridiculous option for us. The store manager (Tod or Tony Rarick) and Uhaul has a thing or two to learn about customer service. You didn't deliver on your promise at the very last second when we had movers already on the way and then you tried to make us, the customer pay for your mistake. The split level lockers were confusing. There were no elevators at this facility so moving large items up stairs is difficult. The main door by the truck loading area didn't work so had to go to a different entrance There was a carpet in the locker so trying to slide items in becomes more harder. The wait times for pick up regardless of arriving early and on time will result in nearly an hour of standing in a line to pick up the keys. Which delayed my time of using the truck resulting in needing to purchase additional time for an additional fee. The reps at the counter seem really miserable, as if they don't want to even help you, let alone be at work. One lady arrived to work, put her stuff down, saw the line of waiting people, then proceeded to go to the back area to eat her breakfast. Then came back and didn't help. The reps honestly sucked and I wouldn't recommend this location. Moving is stressful enough, shitty service doesn't help.Gina A.

The staff here was bare minimum at best, the intercoms never worked (nobody ever answered), the doors were constantly locked when supposed to be open, TONS of roaches in units and in hallways, tons of ceilings falling down, hallways filthy, a really disgusting and super dark and creepy place; so glad we are done with this place. The 15' truck I reserved was missing. Could not find the truck so I went inside and told them and they told me to go look again. I did, went back inside and they sent me out with a girl. We walked around the entire building. Truck is really missing. No other 15' available. Had to rent a 10' which led to multiple trips so my mileage went over, was charged $40 extra for the mileage and the move took longer. I was offered the 26' but was uncomfortable driving a truck so large. They seemed frustrated with me when the truck was missing and didn't want to believe me. When I came inside after the third look for the missing truck, the woman inside asked if I needed a new reservation. I told her I don't know, I just need a truck for my move. I was stressed out at this point. She told me not to get sarcastic with her. Customer service was missing. Not a great experience.Karen R.

Accurately reflect gas tank gauge as was reported at half tank but was 1/8th lower when picked up and I was charged about $7,5 for the 1,5 gal to get it back to the half tank reported even though I refilled the tank to the level I picked it up at.PRESTON W.

When customers are renting a U-haul, please try to keep them in the area of choice, I reserved one in Largo, then it got change to St Petersburge then Tampa. When this could be avoided, then when you g your to Tampa your information is not there because no one took the time to do it right. The manager of the location was so rude. I am allergic to synthetic fragrances when I walked into uhaul to pain up trailer I apologized and let them know I've been hospitalized in the past from being around glade plug-ins and I had to leave store can we set this up outside she said â€œthe sweet vanillaâ€ I said yes i am very allergic to those I have to leave she argued with me saying then I can't rent trailer after a minute of telling me it was impossible to do this outside she left into the warehouse part to look for someone. After another minute of waiting I left my photo I'd on the table with the other lady working and told her to tell the manager I will be outside. 10 min later they brought me my Id and did everything outside. There was no need for me to be inside location. I had to use my emergency EPIPEN 20 min after leaving location. I still have not fully recovered I am in contact with fragrances almost daily but as soon as I smell it I leave the situation and I rarely have an issue it's been 2 years since I needed to use an EPIPEN and she is the first person that has got offended that her chemical smell causes harm to my body I've been using uhaul for my business for the last 2 years most weeks 2-5 times after reading location reviews I am not the only one who has been treated poorlyPhil D.

Rented a car for 7:45 AM this morning, checked to verify my reservation online just before leaving the house to go to U-HAul, 7:20, and verified the 7:45 AM reservation. The I go there I was told my reservation was for 2:45 PM. I showed the agent screenshot of my reservation and she THEN told me she had just gotten a note from corporate that she should call the customer to inform them that the 7:45 reservation had been changed to 2:45 PM. Courtney is awesome and made the entire pickup process so easy - the rating is not reflective of her and if every employee operated like her it would be 5/5. When we came back to pick up the auto trailer a few days later, the team member who â€œassistedâ€ us seemed like he didn't know what was going on. It made me really nervous to have him attaching something we would be towing cross country when he seemed really confused. We also initially paid for the assistance to help secure the vehicle and he helped us attach the trailer and then said he needed to leave and left us to figure out the setup on our own. We then figured out our tires were too big for the straps and had to refund the trailer. I believe her name was Michelle & her expediting professionalism was platinum. She deserves substantially more than a 5 Star review. That employee is VP/Director/Regional Management material!!!!!!! Honestly if I had not experienced mechanical alerts only 300 miles into my 1200 mile trip the store itself was very accommodating and pleasant. The stabilization system didn't work- so we were fighting alignment issues the whole way. And then the check engine light. I was getting a uhaul to return to my home base in MO. after my house was destroyed in hurricane Ian. So I was already full of anxiety I did not need to have the added worry if I would make it home. Upon return of truck I reported the problems and was told the truck was going right back out on another rental. Roadside assistance is always available so if a problem happens that is the answer to be stuck until help arrives- this does not make me feel safe. If repairs and maintenance are done before the rental goes out your custers may have peace of mind... I did not.jennifer D.

This is the worst main U-Haul location in the area as stated in my google review. I rent A LOT of U-Haul trucks in the St Pete/Tampa area and the people that work the 3939 W Gandy location lack respect, intelligence, leadership, proper training, common sense, and communication skills. It's like you guys let a bunch of random mentally challenged people run it and its shocking that it's even remotely successful but nowhere near its potential. After this last rental, never renting from this trash location again. Call me if u would like details why they suck as bad as they do. 3142670012. DO NOT STORE YOUR BELONGINGS HERE! This business does not care about the customer. I specifically set up my credit card for auto billing to avoid forgetting payments and incurring a late fee. They had a problem charging my card 2 months after I set it up and they charged me a $15 late fee. They did'nt even call, text or try to email me before charging me. They're relying on your late fees. They would'nt credit me. I terminated my account with 25 days remaining before the next billing and they would'nt pro-rate me a refund. They STOLE over $160 from me. The person dealing with was very smug and had the attitude of "Take it or leave it". Well I took it alright. I took my business to Life Storage. Same size unit for $50 less. Do yourself a favor stay as far away from U-haul as possible. They also raised they're rates twice this year without giving notice. The first issue is that they did not explain that proper way to sign-in at the 3 doors to access the building to load/unload. I was advised by another customer on how to access the building. The second issue was that the 3 doors that are used to drive in and load/unload have cars parked in front of the doors and the one door that was available was being used by one of the employees who parked inside and was actually sleeping in her car. Only two of the three doors were actually functional and again had vehicles parked in front of them and not inside where you would load/unload.Steven C. | Online Move In

I am in shock that you would rent the truck that you did rent to me. The inside window was so filthy I could barely see out of it. In addition, I had to call for road side help because everything on the steering wheel did not work. To drive a 26 ft truck it should have a working horn!!!! They were not able to repair it but said it was fine to drive - I beg to differ. As per Florida statute Every motor vehicle when operated upon a highway shall be equipped with a horn in good working order and capable of emitting sound audible under normal conditions from a distance of not less than 200 feet. Lastly, the truck barely had gas in it. I would think a 1/2 tank would be the bare minimum that a large vehicle should have in it. I trulySuzanne M.

I quite don't know where to begin it was atrociously unprofessional. I made no less than 10 calls regarding my rental, 4 of them being the fact that I just saw the receipt and that I was overcharged. As your message always says upfront every conversation is recorded and that is very appreciated. I will be requesting those recordings and today I will contact my credit card to stop payment and I will proceed in the dispute. When my son asked about a refund for the remainder of the days in September, none of the staff were able to answer the question and just stated, "well, it's only 10 days". I think I should be refunded not matter how many days left. We were told when we moved in that if we left before the next payment we would be refunded. Uhaul is the worst company to ever exist. During my move, they did not provide the equipment I paid for when I picked up the truck, they "gave away" my storage units without informing me so when I arrived with my truck filled with my things there was no where to put them and "it is uhaul right to not guarantee anything you reserve". I then had to drive two hours north to put half my things in a friends garage while the storage location cleaned out one storage unit for my valuables. That unit was filled for six weeks and when I went to gather my things to move into my house there had been a leak in the unit and it covered all my things with dirty water, damaging electronics and a mattress. They do not provide insurance for their units. This is all from one move. Uhaul is the worst company that exists and if you can find another moving company, even if it costs more it will save you in the long run.julia m. | Expérience générale

Only one person was working and she was working hard. However, there was a long wait. Also, when I signed up for the unit, it wasn't disclosed that I had a to purchase insurance and use a specific lock. Since the planning of my move from Miami to Tampa U-Haul has been consistently reliable and supportive! I've maintained a unit for 4 years. Easy access and always very clean and safe. Kimberly was so helpful on the phone and in person when I needed to arrange for a second unit. Both truck and storage unit were changed more than once. Got to the storage unit at 5:15 and it was closed. Next day returned and was told no units were available. Eventually they found one but it was 2,5 times more expensive than was promised. Did not offer any price reduction despite being their fault. Despite having phone numbers to call. No one could help. The woman i spoke to when the reservation was made said this facility was 24 hours. It is not. I asked for a 5×10. I recieved a 5×8×7?!. The clerk was great but there were no upgrades to be made unfortuneltly. How convenient right. I paid 100$ for the storage and the stuff is still in my truck. Moving in the first day the lock was broken wasn't resolved for a few day , had to move to another storage unit. Had an issue with my unit being moved out with a late notice, when I went to inquire about it , it was confusing with billing and what happened, there was no notice on the change of not using a card for entering the building, it changed from no card to just entering unit number, no email or anything sent out,. Overall it was a good experience. Judith was exceptionally courteous and professional and was always there to help when it was needed. My only one issue was that they raised the storage fees way too often. The storage unit and location we initially reserved was sold out from underneath us. We were supposed to get a friends and family discount from the person that we know and we were told to provide his information to the person that check to see in. The individual was unwilling to apply the discount. The storage unit we were given was not fortunate to accommodate our belongings. We had to end up renting two separate units. That is not within her budget. If this is not made right by U-Haul I will be using another storage unit after the first month.
